Will not disappoint! Many dishes on the menu that may sound familiar to most but trust me, whatever you have had does not compare to what you will experience here. Examples: the Jamon Iberico which may just come off as prosciutto...like nothing you have ever had. Shrimp in Garlic, a staple dish in many Spanish/Portuguese restaurants and something I’ve had hundreds of times in my life...Jaleo transformed it into something amazing, making every other one I’ve tried in the past obsolete. I guess the best way to explain what you will experience here is simply this...whatever you have experienced prior to this will no longer be valid; prepare to be amazed and allow them to show you just how far the rabbit hole goes!

We got the classic tasting menu. They were able to make every dish vegetarian. It was a lot of food (12 dishes for two people) and every dish was fantastic.

We were happy with food selection. Our waiter was missing a lot. And the busboy was rude and kept trying to take our food when clearly we had food on our plate. It was so irritating because we were trying to have a conversation. I love this restaurant but I guess I shouldn’t go on special holidays.

I love the variety available through the small plates concept. And I love what Chef Andres does with both vegetables and chicken and shrimp. (The sauces are divine!) the willingness to take reservations and to find us a relatively quiet table are always welcome.

Having made a reservation well ahead, we were seated promptly. The waiter helpfully explained some of the menu options, and we placed our order for 6 of the small-plate items. 2 arrived promptly & we started sharing & enjoying them. The 3rd arrived as we were about 3/4 thru the 1st 2 (it was scrumptious), and then the last 3 arrived just as we were finishing the 1st 3.

Ive been hoping to get to Jaleo for years because I heard so many wonderful things about it and Jose Andres. In a recent trip to DC I decided to make a reservation for me and my daughter. Unfortunately we were both underwhelmed. I think I can even check of MiniBar (one of his other restaurants) from my list as well. I ordered the Jaleo Classic from the tasting menu and it was ok. However the timing of each course was really really off. There were times where I would get 2 dishes at once and then 10 minutes later another dish, then 15 minutes later 1 other dish, then I would wait 20+ minutes assuming that was the last course but then 2 more would come out. I ended up asking for my last dish and the dessert to go. While I left feeling very full, both the cocktail special and the sangria I ordered were very very small portions. That was disappointing. If I ever find myself back at Jaleo (doubtful) I will make sure I bring my reading glasses and go thru the extensive menu carefully. Maybe I will be more impressed. PS - when my daughter and I left the restaurant the hostess wasn't even polished enough to lift his head up and say goodbye or thank you for dining with us. It left us with a pretty negative impression. Id say skip it.

Been to Jaleo many times but had never before had the paella. What a treat! Enjoyed the garlic shrimp too, as always.

When we arrived for our 9pm reservation the place was packed, luckily we found a couple of seats in the bar area to grab a drink prior to being seated. Once seated, we got right to ordering a bunch of plates that we had no clue what to expect.
We were able to BYOB under the premise that it was a flat fee of $20/25 for your own wine. Later found out it was $25 per bottle, but the manager was nice enough to remove the extra fee but warned us not to use third party websites as a source.

It’s Truffle season! Had a dish with fried octopus and potatoes with truffle on top and it was delish! The scallops and butternut squash dish was so good we ordered an extra plate.
The strawberry sorbet and chocolate flan was a great way to end the dinner. All of the dishes were great and I would definitely come back again.

The food was good but not incredible per the hype. They were out of a few things we ordered or forgot to put them in. We enjoyed everything about Oyamel much much more: great food and excellent service.

Fantastic food, great service. Highly recommend the Jaleo Experience tasting menu ($70) if you can spring for it. Ended up being about 95 per person with tax and a good tip.

I wasnt a fan. The food was okay and the service was poor. The server just didnt really care about us at all. Crab lump salad was great however.

The atmosphere is there and i enjoyed the fun decor. However, our server just didnt pay us much attention and seemed mundane

Consistently good food. Good service, which was well coordinated because several people were in charge of removing dishes but others serving the next dish (tapas). Surprisingly quiet - tables were about 18" apart, but you didn't have any trouble being heard by your partner, and your neighbors' conversations were not intrusive. We hadn't been there in a while, but we'll definitely go back soon.

Lunch food was tasty, fresh, and prepared with care. Other diners later seated unnecessarily adjacent raised the noise level a bit, and water glasses were topped up a little too often, but these are minor cavils.

Jaleo always is a treat. It has been a while since my last visit. The atmosphere was fun. Although I noticed some recipes had changed, all of the food we ordered was good. We ordered a range of tapas off the menu and none disappointed us. I was surprised that the wine list has trended higher in price, but that may be a function of Spanish wines becoming more popular.

Another good meal at Jaleo. The tortilla espanola and ham croquettes were good as usual. We also had bean salad and sausage with mashed potatoes and dessert. Tables are a bit close but luckily we did not have anybody next to us for the first half of our meal. Overall it was a good experience and the prices were more affordable than the Jaleo in Las Vegas.

Second time here. We go to many tapas themed places and none compare. A simple thing like croquettes, that are easy to make well, are taken to another level here ---ethereal. Every aspect of service is cordial, but thoroughly professional as well. The kitchen is talented and consistent. Dishes that we have had before were precisely the same; and this is amazing considering the number of dishes that are being turned over.

we were seated at a great little alcove in the front window area that proved to be quieter and yet very accessible. The food is great but we ordered too much. The flan was dreamy and the shrimp excellent. There are so many dishes that its hard to choose. Enjoy!

It is sad that this is one of the better tapas restaurants in the DC area. I try new tapas restaurants in most cities I go to (if there is one) and Jaleo fares a lot worse compared to those in other major cities (Boston, Chicago, Seattle, LA, San Diego). I always order tortillas de patatas as a barometer of tapas restaurants but this dish at Jaleo is the worst I've ever encountered. Very disappointing. I could make a better one for my Sunday brunch.

That said, the location is convenient, service is excellent, and we don't have many other options when it comes to tapas.

We enjoyed the restaurant week option and were able to try a variety of options as a result. Everything we had was delicious. The only negative was that we were seated on a curve and penned in close to our neighbors on both sides who were very rude and obnoxious. On one side they smelled like stale cigarets and booze, but we know that had nothing to do with the restaurant. Otherwise it was a great experience and we will be coming back.
