We were in town for a special occasion. The food was wonderful. They were out of hanger steak appetizer by the time we ordered but my kids loved the muscles. Paella (mushroom and chicken was good. Cheeses were amazing! Definitely going to come back again!
Excellent place, the food is very authentic and the flavors are just impecable. The place is great and well designed and the service was great!
Brunch at Jaleo is great! They know to take eggs and potatoes up a notch and the "Spanish french toast' is delicious! In addition to the fun brunch items, they have there full, delicious as usual, menu. We went Sunday and the service was impeccable.
This brunch was my second at Jaleo. I highly recommend the chef’s tasting menu, but this time we went for hangar steak and egg (excellent), spinach mezze (always good), cauliflower (so-so), ham and eggs (nothing special), and the bacon/dates (good). We arrived at 11:15 so we beat the crowds and the restaurant was quiet for Jaleo but still festive. I really like the Jose Andres restaurants and the way they cook food.
We had an amazing evening. Three of us did the tasting menu. It was FABULOUS!! One delicious plate after the other. We were sooo full and the service was great.
We were expecting so much from this place and found in the en a very poor quality restaurant. The food is not reaching the level that we were expecting and if you have ever been in Spain you will found 10000 times more flavor than in a single Jaleo croqueta. This overall experience was very disappointing with a service that looks like a chain restaurant. No one is really taking care of you. Everything is fast and poorly managed. Give your money and get out is what we will remember .
Food was excellent and our main server attentive. However, the person responsible for cleaning up seemed to want us to leave. Before our last dish was served, he started cleaning off the table, took away all the flatware and started removing the dishes. When we let him know we weren't finished, he kept going, so when our dishes arrived, there was no flatware or dishes. To get new took a fair amount of time. Need better training to allow diners to better appreciate the excellent food.
We've been to Jaleo many times and it's generally great; however, this time we got off on the wrong note and it never got back on track. We had a reservation but the hostess seemed to forget us. After seeing people who came in behind us get seated we enquired again and then she gave us a table. It took a long time for our waiter to appear and then the drinks took another 15 minutes or so. One plate of food came before drinks. It was 45 minutes after our reservation time before we got drinks. The remaining food then was slow coming out of the kitchen. Our waiter was nice and the food delicious and I'm sure we'll go back but this was not the restaurant we generally know. Decibel level was exceedingly high.
Awesome food - awesome experience! Try one of the tasting specials!
I was kept waiting for my table for fifteen minutes past my reservation time.
Excellent food but bit noisy for conversation. I would definitely come again to any of the Jaleo locations.
Nothing more can be said about Jaleo. It is excellent in every way. Period. Now go make your special time there!
The food here is always delicious - I've been eating at Jaleo regularly for 20 years and have never had a bad dish. Service is generally good, but can be slow. Yesterday, for example the promised "almuerzo rapido" whereby you should be in and out for lunch in an hour, took an hour and a half and we had to rush our desserts and both of us were late going back to work. But the food is worth it.
A visit to Jaleo never disappoints -great food, atmosphere and service. Chef Ramon and Chef Maria even greeted us - that was wonderful!!!!
Food is good service is marginal.
Legend-ary. I got the Jaleo experience without realize it’s roughly a 17 course meal. I enjoyed each and every dish, but ended up with a few take home boxes. Highly recommended.
I'm a regular at Jaleo, but mostly for lunch, following the Wednesday Shakespeare productions. This was my first dinner in a while, and it turned out to be a great choice for the occasion, which was a reunion of old friends after many years. The food and service were fabulous, and we got our favorite table, next to a window. Despite the "tapas" label, the portions were generous enough to share, with each couple ordering five dishes plus dessert. We were not rushed, and it was altogether a lovely evening.
We love the vibe and food at Jaleo DC. We prefer it to the Cyrstal City location. The large windows offer great people watching. All the dishes were fabulous. Go with a group so you can try more dishes. We especially liked the chorizo with mashed potatoes and the button mushrooms, the salads were very good as was the crab. We would pass on the grilled chicken (not bad but there are better options). Splurge for the desserts- not your average offerings (Rice Pudding mmmm). This is a go-to for when we have out of town guests. I also appreciate it isn't as loud as sister restaurant Zaytina and has better service too. Hooray for Chef Jose's charitable work.
Spendy but worth it
Four of us ordered the sampler. What they served me as a vegetarian was absolutely terrible food. The others were happier with their selection but not thrilled.
I love this Jaleo location; this was our third time and we were thrilled by our experience there! We have also been to the Crystal City and Bethesda locations.
There is a wonderful variety of vegetarian food. Being a vegetarian, I'm very thankful for the variety offered. Each dish is also unique and delicious. Very high quality food indeed.
Service was great and we had a wonderful time. Thank you Jaleo! We look forward to being back soon!
Wonderful waiter Julian. We did the middle range tasting menu and it was truly unforgettable! We will go back as soon as we can.
Arrived earlier than our reservation and they sat us down. Waiter helped explain everything on the menu and was very helpful. Food was outstanding
I've been here a dozen times since it first opened many years ago. Each time has been perfect! The food, especially, never disappoints!
Love the food, the service, the recommended wine by the barkeep. I do miss your original recipe for the negroni (what was it -- an olive and rosemary?) Cheese sampler -- all beautifully paired. A delicious endive thing.
The food was great as usual. We always enjoy coming to Jaleo.
Loved it. Really brought me back to Madrid in my college days. Would definitely go back & recommend.
This was my second visit to Jaleo (I do not live in the area), and it has already become a must-visit place for me when I come to DC. The staff are wonderful, the food is incredible and the location is great. I highly recommend it to anyone!
Delicious food- big variety-excellent friendly service - would be perfect but for noise level (which is still better than most). One of my favorite DC restaurants
Food was phenomenal, service was amazing, 10/10 would eat there again
One of the best Catalan food restaurants I have ever been to! Certainly the best outside Catalunya.
our table was by a corner, very private but facing a wall, food was great but would have loved to been given a choice
Love the variety of tapas. The gazpacho comes in need of tomato. The desserts are rich and the sangria awesome. Always go when in DC. Reserve a table ahead if time.
The food was good but not the best tapas around for the price. Service was not good. The server added on 2 alcoholic drinks we never ordered (but the table next to us had and they had already left).
Appreciated the allergen menu and our server's knowledge of the menu when brunch wasn't included on the allergen menu so we could safely eat. Food was great, we'll be back!
We got a table outside and had a great experience. Food & wine were delicious. Service was friendly & helpful albeit really busy and not always present. They more than made up for it when they brought out a complimentary dessert (flan) in celebration of our 12th anniversary. It was heavenly.
Very good service! Food was excellent!
It was so noisy on Saturday night that we could hardly hear each other. I will only go there again if i could sit outside.
The food is amazing. I'm already a fan of Andrés other restaurant Zatinya ( don't know how to spell it) and decided to try the Spanish version. Fantastic. I'm not a fish lover, but the trout wrapped in prosciutto was fantastic, as well as everything else, including the rosé wine I tried. The desert, a cheesecake with a Spanish cheese... to die for"
