The food was not good at all. We disliked it very much. The worst was the octopus which tasted canned not fresh. The olives with anchovies also tasted canned. The potato tortilla was underdone and not seasoned. We also very disappointed at the lack of paella selections.
The ambiance and service was fine.
While I generally love Jaleo and its food, a recent experience left me disappointed by the service. A companion at brunch asked for a glass of “just plain tomato juice” which arrived as two fingers of juice in a snifter with a celery stick. For this he was charged $12. When we asked about the charge, the server informed us that it was the charge for a “virgin Bloody Mary.” We felt uncomfortable pushing back that this was not what was ordered, but we did, and the charge was taken off (we would have happily paid a glass of juice price), which I appreciate, but it just left us with a bad feeling about an otherwise tasty and enjoyable meal.
It was as good as I remembered it from when I first visited several years ago. I will definitely be back next time I am in town.
We brought newbies to Jaleo and they were just as delighted with the food as we were. But how can Jose call gazpacho traditional when it's made with beets? Fortunately, they had the genuine product also.
Love the variety and flavor combinations on the menu. Each tapas was marvelous and wish I had room for them all!
Excellent food and service. The environment was very nice.
Absolutely amazing restaurant. Food was delicious, service outstanding and the attention to detail was out of this world.
They took my husband’s master graduation celebration so serious that they made our visit a wonderful experience. Of course we’ll come back
Our server was fabulous! Food absolutely delish! And we were able to hear each other talk which is a HUGE plus these days.
Just a superb lunch. Can’t wait to go back!
The table was not designed for people to actually talk to each other. Given that I had a reservation, a better table would have been better
Excellent and consistent food from one of the best chefs in DC. Unfortunately, like so many restaurants in the District, they struggle with their service. A manager finally brought out the desert and our bill. Oddly, no mention of the two hour lunch was referenced.
Delicious food. Definitely would go back
Food was good, so was the wine. Dessert and espresso also good. A pleasant, satisfying pre-theater meal.
This is one of my favorite spots to bring visiting friends. It never disappoints and is always delicious. The shrimp, chicken croquettes, ibérico tenderloin with blue cheese mashed potatoes, scallops, and sangria are all must haves.
Great food done perfectly. Was a little loud at first but then very quiet as early diners left. Service was great, very alert and friendly
Always great. Food, service and ambiance were wonderful even on a very busy Mothers's Day.
Food was delicious, service was excellent, ambience was lovely. Value was good, just be careful with drinks, the sangria was a bit pricey. Overall an amazing experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Had the Jaleo Tapas flight and everything was very tasty. Seating was a little tight so not for an intimate dinner. Very family friendly. Went on Mother’s Day and they gave all mom’s a rose. Lovely place. If your like variety and lots of choices this is your place. Also had asparagus but didn’t take picture.
Great food ! Once again we had a delicious meal at Jaleo. The tapas-style restaurant serves a variety of tasty, creative and satisfying plates. Everything was delicious, from the bread with infused olive oil to the vanilla flan for dessert. And the Jose Andres gin and tonic is really special ! Great place to go with a group of people.
Very busy on Mother's Day but they had nice brunch selections. Enjoyed it very much. They gave all the ladies a long stemmed rose. Nice touch.
Amazing tasting experience with wine pairing! Chef Samantha came out to greet us to top off the wonderful evening!
Fun room, not too noisy, great food, perfect for sharing with friends. Lots of choices, helpful servers, great wine list! Highly recommended.
Because our guests were from New York and unlikely to be back here soon, we chose the "Jaleo Experience" tasting menu so that we would be able to catch up with our friends without having to make decisions on what to order. We were not embarrassed! Jose Andres is still keeping his first DC restaurant exciting with innovative recipes, painstaking preparation and presentation, and appropriate, responsive service, even though his name is now on a dozen other restaurants and he is feeding the masses in Puerto Rico. The only caveat is that we wished we had known that after a parade of seafood dishes, we would be expected to tackle perfectly grilled hangar steak, so tender that we despaired at not being able to eat it. That was followed by both flan and pot de creme au chocolat (or whatever they call it in Spain), which we managed to devour despite our protests. Well, the steak and patatas bravas went home with us (sorry, New York guests!) and was our next evening's dinner. We enjoyed every morsel. Thanks, Jose, and the excellent chefs you have trained to take care of us.
The quality and variety of the dishes was excellent, and we especially appreciated our server's helpful recommendations.
The service was outstanding considering we were a very large group. Our waiter was very friendly, efficient and recommended the right things and portions. It was a memorable experience for all of us! Can’t wait to go back. Thank you.
We had a wonderful meal celebrating my graduation and my boyfriend’s birthday. My parents were a little hesitant, as they’re not adventurous diners, but we all had a wonderful time sharing plates and desserts. They have a wonderful, comprehensive allergy menu as well.
I have been to, I believe, all of Jose Andres restaurants + Jaleo DC always seems best oversl
Everything was amazing, start to finish. Definitely get the eggplant!
Fish soup starter was outstanding-better than a Marseille bouillabaisse which previously was our favorite. All four small plates were fabulous (chicken, salmon, pulpit and spinach). Conversation with server pleasant, engaging and wide ranging (classic music to international politics). Usually have port but tried Spanish dessert wine which was very good. Jaleo is a go to when we are in DC and Jose did not disappoint again
Absolutely delicious tapas.. we are desfood lovers and had the scallops, calamari, crab salad, soft shelled crab, cauliflower and citrus salad. The portion sizes were not skimpy at all and were easily shared by 3. I don’t like most restaurant sangria but their sparkling white sangria (tho a little pricey) was superb — refreshing, pretty, not sweet and good alcohol content! It was great tapas style dining with great flavor and freshness!
Incredible lunch special. $20, 4 courses. Everyone amazing. My Spanish mother in law said the flan was the best she’s ever had and she’s the toughest critic I’ve ever met
Jaleo is my favorite restaurant in DC. That should say enough.
Great Restaurant 😀
We went twice while in DC, once for dinner and once for Sangria Hour. Both excellent. Amazing food and value, great service. Just go!
So much fun to share the tapas! We ordered 2 per person form different categories. Then everyone ordered dessert, of course!
Breath taking and awesome experience to be led through by an incredible waitress 12 course tasting and wine pairing was life changing.
I anticipated more from this famous chefs restaurant. Food was decent, atmosphere was fun but overall, the food was just okay.
Friendly staff. Gave good recommendations. Food was excellent. Fresh, good taste, good combination with vegetables.
Spectacular culinary experience in a fun, artsy setting. The only place for authentic Spanish and Catalonian food outside of Spain. Get the tasting menu!
