Wow! The meal and overall experience could not have been better. Devon guided our group through the Jalep Experience tasting menu. It was incredible! One of my favorite meals ever. Thank you!

Some of the dishes were excellent, some were good, and others fair. The service and ambience were superior. All in all, it was an outstanding lunch as we sampled the menu and drinks and had a pleasant afternoon lunch.

The service was slow and it was hard to get the attention of a server to order food or drinks. This part of the experience kind of slanted everything. We like to enjoy dinner over a couple of hours but typically that's a paced out meal with drinks. This was more like waiting for a long time, finally ordering and then everything coming quickly. Then waiting for a long time, ordering and dishes coming quickly. The long waits in between just seemed like they weren't appropriately staffed. Overall, the place felt impersonal. The food was good - I was hoping to put it on par with tapas places like Curate or Zambra in Asheville, NC but it didn't get there.

If we had been seated at a different table, I probably would have rated the ambiance higher. But every dish that we ordered was fantastic and the service was helpful and attentive, so I have to rate it a five star overall.
You must have the liquid olive, the burst of flavor is sublime. If you have had the classic tapas like patatas bravas before, skip them and order the more creative selections, except you can't skip jamon iberico.

This was outstanding, like José Andrés' other restaurants; Jaleo DC didn't disappoint. In fact, it reflected positively on the quality established by Mr. Andrés in his work and in his restaurants. The reservation was for two but the hostesses worked very hard to accommodate a last minute change for a table for 5. Once seated, the staff was able to suggest magnificent accompaniments to our main food choices. They did so with an excellent attitude, grace and friendliness. As for the food itself, everything was off the charts from presentation to taste and quality. Definitely a great place to enjoy tapas in a vibrant restaurant.

The service is greatness however this has gone from a local destination to a tourist and business visitor spot and is crowded. It is basically a factory but still executed well.

My husband and I went to celebrate our 46th anniversary. We also had tickets for a show a few blocks away at 8:00. When we arrived at 6:30 we were seated immediately. We told the woman at at the entrance that we were ordering one of the few large plates, the skirt steak of theacorn fed Iberian Black Pig and we were nervous about it being done on time. She ordered it for us before we even got to our table to make sure it was done I time. The. She brought us two glasses of complimentary champagne for an anniversary celebrations. The steak was fantastic. It was like,no other ports I ever tasted and served medium rare! It tasted like the best beef steak! We also ordered two tapas. The white bean and baby octopus was only fair. Trout wrapped in Iberian smoked ham was delicious. On the whole it was a wonderful meal.

Real Spanish food from the great hand of José Andrés.
I live in NC and this visit to Washington´s Jaleo sent me much further than just to the Capital of US...it transported me to the Capital of Spain.
Thank you José Andrés for everything you do for the Spanish cuisine. Thank you for being so honest.
Real tapas. Real flavors. Real deal.

Jaleo is a magical culinary experience in every way. My only moment of disappointment is the stock image-esque "art" on the wall and bathroom floor. Not sure why the awesome type aesthetic was side stepped for these, but otherwise? Perfect 10's across the board.

Service was terrible. It felt like an expensive fast food restaurant. Everything is. Mass produced. We were rushed the whole time. As soon as we sat down, even before we could open our menus, we were asked to order. We asked for a wine list but the server never took our drink order. It was just not fun and certainly not worth the price.
