Food was out of this world! Perfect place for a romantic date. Our server was very helpful when it came to choosing favorites. The decor is very modern, but unfortunately, our table was right next to the front door and we were constantly bumped by people waiting to be seated. I made a reservation weeks before, but we were still seated almost 30 minutes late.
Would highly recommend Jaleo to anyone who wants to splurge for a nice date. Make a reservation and prepare to be blown away by the food!
We had to wait for 30 min for our reservations that we were on time for, but the food was great!
A great evening. Good service and authentic Spanish cuisine. It’s impossible not to enjoy.
Attentive and knowledgeable waitstaff, excellent food, fun atmosphere
Food was very tasty.
Such great food and fantastic wait staff who completely hooked us up on dinner ideas!
Met an old friend for lunch and wanted to support Chef Andres. The Barcelona sandwich was fantastic, the service was excellent. Pricing is about right for the location. Probably the only nit pick was how many options and various menus there were!
Food was really good and unique. The Gin drinks are to die for. Only knock was that I found the paella a bit on the salty side. Would go again for sure.
La comida riquísima!
Party of 6 tried a variety of meats and vegetarian options none of them dissapointed!
Would go again.
The food was wonderful! We loved the funky design of the restaurant and the tapas style plates. The service was pretty spotty and not personal, however it did not necessarily take away from the experience.
Our server was supremely helpful and just the right amount of chatty. I could have done with a bit less light and noise, but 100% worth it for the food.
Went before a Capitals hockey game. Got the tasting menu along with the wine pairing. Food was excellent. The service was great and when we let them know we had to get to the game they really stepped up the pace and got us out of town
Another awesome meal. Everything was excellent.
Outstanding menu, preparation, and taste! A great value.
Food was disappointing.
The food was excellent and thank you for bringing a surprise birthday dessert!
Wonderful! As always.
The food was delicious and so full of flavor! I am looking forward to a return visit soon.
The $20 lunch is a great deal! Delicious food and good portions. The service was a bit slow but the place was busy.
I am a DC area resident and every time a visitor from out of town comes to DC I use it as an excuse to go to Jaleo. The food is delicious and cost is surprisingly reasonable. I reccinend to anyone but make reservations. The place is very popular.
I've had a number of excellent dining experiences at Jaleo! Love Jose Andres' restaurants in DC. The food was excellent, as it always is. The service was kind of mediocre. It was 30 minutes between sitting down and finally being served a drink. But the excellent food and fun ambiance makes up for this! Can't wait to return.
We hadn't visited Jaleo in several months so we returned for dinner before attending the preview performance of Richard III at the Shakespeare Theater. By accident, we stumbled on black truffle week. This was my first chance to try them (served on top of a Spanish omelette) -- I finally understand what the excitement is about.
Great place to take out of town guests; wonderful shared plates and a lot of variety
I love Jaleo! Would love it more if they offered more vegan options.
Lots of options, all delicious! Perfect for pre-theatre, so convenient!
Tasty dishes and interesting menu! Beautiful location, attentive servers. Always glad to support someone who is so good to others!
What an amazing experience! Loved every minute of it. The staff from host to waitress to server. My family and I had a wonderful time.
Always a creative, delicious and fun dining experience! We love to do the tasting menu, and we appreciate how Jaleo changes it up with new dishes in the tasting menu over time. A cool and chic restaurant without the aloofness.
We were somewhat disappointed at our most recent visit to Jaleo. The ambiance and the service was fine, but the tapas portions were smaller and less flavorful than I have had in past visits. We had a range of tapas items...seafood, meat, vegetable....The presentation was ok, but the seasonings and skimpier portions missed the mark on this visit. I hope all improves.
Food was great, just as it has been for years. We had the tasting menu with wine pairing and the service was not timed well. For at least four courses, the wine/beverage came out much later than the food. It was also uncomfortably cold in our window seats. My daughter wrapped her legs in her coat and stayed that way the entire evening. It was cold outside but not unusually so for February.
My wife, grandson and I ate at Jaleo on a Saturday evening prior to attending a performance at the Lansburgh Shakespeare Theatre, which is next door. My only real complaint is that the restaurant has no comfortable place to wait for ones reserved table. We were shuttled to the bar area where we had to stand among bar goers and fast moving waiters until our table was ready. However, one waiter noticing my wife's discomfort brought her a chair from the main room, a really thoughtful act!
Once seated our waiter took our drink orders and then gave us ample time to review the restaurant's ample tapas menu. Everything we had was excellent and we particularly enjoyed the five-cheese plate and the tortilla española ( a sort of Spanish egg and potato omelette). The offerings of both food and wine are extensive and the tapas large enough to share, so order a selection and pass things around. Our waiter, although always on the run, was attentive and helpful in his recommendations and explanations.
The restaurant was packed and pretty loud, but we seated in a more isolated section and were able to converse comfortably.
Finally, if you are going on to the theater, give yourself plenty of time. We were seated at about 6:20 and left at 7:45 for an 8:00 curtain.
Loved the Patatas Bravas and the liquid olives. The value was excellent. We will definitely return.
Great place for a group of seven to celebrate a Birthday! The menu has a wide variety and the dishes can come out fast or slow, it's up to the diner. We were there for three hours and were very comfortable. Nice wine list too.
When I go to Jaleo I expect the best food and experience - and they always deliver. This time I had one of the tasting menus (with a wine accompaniment) before the CAPS game and it was wonderful.
The first dishes of the set lunch menu were a bit disappointing (esp. the patatas bravas), but the rest was outstanding, esp. the flan for dessert! I'll go back again for sure!
This place is amazing. I’m not one for tapas-style dining but I thoroughly enjoyed Jaleo. The server was exceptionally knowledgeable and very pleasant. There were four of us and we ordered many items. Every one was a bullseye. The ultimate standout item was the Tomato bread with Anchovies. Close behind that was the charcuterie, garlic shrimp and paella. Really exceptional place.
Wonderful experience and flavor. The service was exceptional.
The service was just fantastic.
Unfortunately, the small plates are large plates.
Loved the patatas bravas.
I found the gambas too oily was expecting traditional gambas al ajillo
Espinaca was heavy also. Not like Catalan version.
Just okay food.
Return lunch visit, with shared dishes, all really tasty. Love the span of the menu, and once again all served quite quickly.
