Excellent all-around, the $20 lunch deal was perfect for us. I definitely will go again next time I visit DC.
The Ibérico paella was awesome. Everyone enjoyed the pork dishes, again primarily the hams and the sliders. The flan was a revelation
Enjoyed our brunch. The waitress was excellent and she explained what the dishes were. The experience was different and we felt as if we were in Spain. This was our first time at Jaleo and we were not disappointed.
Amazing experience. The food was delish. Great ambiance. Great Service. An experience worth enjoying any day of the week.
Great place! The food was amazing. Everything was so good.
Good food with lots of selection and some unique items such as rabbit and quail. Very busy when we went for brunch but had a nice quiet table, so all good.
Our server was outstanding. She was informative and lead us to some wonderful food choices and great wine.
Jaleo is a fun place, but you have to be willing to spend quite a bit.
The lunch menu with three courses was a great way to taste the wonderful dishes.. What a delight for the palette. Bacon wrapped dates are a just try as well as patatas bravas and gambas. Thank you Jose Andres!!
My husband and I went to celebrate our 46th anniversary. We also had tickets for a show a few blocks away at 8:00. When we arrived at 6:30 we were seated immediately. We told the woman at at the entrance that we were ordering one of the few large plates, the skirt steak of theacorn fed Iberian Black Pig and we were nervous about it being done on time. She ordered it for us before we even got to our table to make sure it was done I time. The. She brought us two glasses of complimentary champagne for an anniversary celebrations. The steak was fantastic. It was like,no other ports I ever tasted and served medium rare! It tasted like the best beef steak! We also ordered two tapas. The white bean and baby octopus was only fair. Trout wrapped in Iberian smoked ham was delicious. On the whole it was a wonderful meal.
Real Spanish food from the great hand of José Andrés.
I live in NC and this visit to Washington´s Jaleo sent me much further than just to the Capital of US...it transported me to the Capital of Spain.
Thank you José Andrés for everything you do for the Spanish cuisine. Thank you for being so honest.
Real tapas. Real flavors. Real deal.
Hands down our favorite restaurant in D.C. - Fabulous food and consistently excellent service. Go!
Food was delicious and beautifully presented. Service was excellent!
The tapas were delicious and the pairing of plates perfect. We appreciated the amount of time between servings, allowed a nice relaxed meal. As a long time fan of Jaleo, I am happy that the food only gets better!
Great food, always a fun place to dine. Love Jose!
Delicious food, but small portions. Good service, nice atmosphere, weird bathroom (there's a gap under the sinks between the men's room and the ladies room!). Overall recommended.
Jaleo is a magical culinary experience in every way. My only moment of disappointment is the stock image-esque "art" on the wall and bathroom floor. Not sure why the awesome type aesthetic was side stepped for these, but otherwise? Perfect 10's across the board.
Las frituras estaban especialmente peor que en otras ocasiones.
Cocktails were great. Because it's tapas, we were able to try some new things and some favorites
Service was terrible. It felt like an expensive fast food restaurant. Everything is. Mass produced. We were rushed the whole time. As soon as we sat down, even before we could open our menus, we were asked to order. We asked for a wine list but the server never took our drink order. It was just not fun and certainly not worth the price.
Nice execution of the tapas concept with a lot of great choices and efficient and friendly service. The whole meal, if well chosen, can be a revelation and a bargain. Good selection of affordable wines. Great downtown location. Highly recommended.
Food was good but service not so much. Most of the group had not been before and the wait staff didn’t seem to know how to make recommendations from the menu nor was there information on the chefs tasting menu. We had to ask repeatedly about it. Prefer the Bethesda and Crystal City locations.
We absolutely LOVE Jaleo DC! We do not live in the area, but every time we are able to be in DC Jaleo is a NOT TO MISS restaurant. The menu is fabulous, the service is always perfect, the food is always delicious and reliable to be so. We have been enjoying this location for years. We have not had the opportunity to try another restaurant by Chef Andrés but will certainly do so when in another city with a restaurant by him. It is a not to miss place.
Our first time to Jaleo. overall everything was very good. The food included items you don't find elsewhere, some great and different flavors. We tried 6 different things and there was nothing we wouldn't order again! The flan was excellent and delicious! It ambiance was very noisy. It was very busy. It didn't detract from the service, our waiter was very helpful and attentive given the crowd.
The food is always fresh and service was pretty good even on an extremely busy evening. Highly recommend!
Jaleo has ample choices on menu. Cuisine is not standard dining fare. The Paella was delicious and an unusual presentation of a relatively common dish. Portions were smaller than we thought. Brunch but not lunch size. Seating was a little too cozy. Hazelnut chocolate mousse was to die for.
First, we asked for a quiet table and they seated us as requested. Too many places apologize for not having any quiet seats so this was welcome. The menu offers many, many options. we chose six and enjoyed most of them. The paella used a rice with long grains and only had two large, heads-on shrimp. Would have preferred some more meat/seafood in there. Enjoyed the olives, flauta, Brussel Sprouts, duck breast was okay, and croquettes which would have been better if the filling was a little crisper. The rice pudding was very flavorful and refreshing. The waitress was very attentive and enhanced our experience. We will go back but will try different dishes.
Very disappointed at lack of cleanliness, ambiance, and quality.
Absolutely loved it. Great food fum ambiance.. a bit loud but that's what tapas bars are like
Jaleo has a nice vibe, good food, good drinks. Feels like a chain, lacks intimacy. I would go back but, not running back.
We had a fabulous meal at Jaleo with our daughters, who had lived in Northern Spain for a year. It was wonderful to experience the delicious Spanish cuisine again at Jaleo. The food was excellent and the service could not have been better. Our waiter's personality and suggestions truly enhanced our experience and made our evening even more memorable. We chose to eat at Jaleo specifically to support Jose Andres because of his support of the government workers during the recent shutdown by opening a food kitchen. It was such a wonderful gesture, and a real lift for the workers. We loved every minute of our evening at Jaleo and hope to visit again when we return to DC.
We went for an early dinner on a family trip to DC. It was perfect! The staff was lovely. If your kids are adventurous eaters, there will be lots of options, and everything we tried was delicious. We all especially loved the brussel sprouts on the Cherry Blossom special menu. Yum! Awesome bonus - supporting a wonderful chef and human being. Thank you for all you do, Chef Jose Andrés!
We have been eating at Jaleo since it opened in the mid-90’s and, amazingly, the restaurant keeps getting better. The tapas that we have ordered ( from an extensive menu) have been uniformly excellent, although we do have our favorites, like spinach with pine nuts and chorizo with mashed potatoes. The garlic shrimp is renowned.
Jaleo was a great experience. Loved Gambas al ajillo and red sangria
Food was good, nice new selections, but service was slow and at times hard to find, she did bring fresh ice stupa for our second sangria pitcher, missing forks on the table and had to mention after food arrived.
I made reservations online for an early lunch. They had a special menu that allowed us to try multiple items and a glass of sangria for $25.00. We all thought the food and service were great. I highly recommend it and I'm looking forward to going to the one in Vegas when I'm there later this year.
Vibrant noisy busy restaurant but well worth the wait for a table! Yum food choices (fresh oysters in a gin marinade!!) Good selection of wines and gins. A delicious crusty flavoursome Paella! And quite yum desserts too!
We wobbled back to our apt. Very happy and full! A bit on the pricey side but worth it.
Outstanding meal. Did the chef selection. Good selection of different tapas. Attentive service. Good atmosphere.
Fabulous tapas! Charming waiter!! Excellent wine!!! Wonderful experience!!!!
