My family and I had a wonderful time over 2.5 hours of José’s Way tasting menus. I even brought my two grandchildren (ages 2 and 3) and they really enjoyed themselves.
I have been to this restaurant twice and it never disappoints. The food it delicious and the sangria is amazing. Very attentive wait staff as well.
Best Tapas I’ve ever had!
Everything was so delicious. The cheese sampler small plate and Sherry Flight paired well. The gazpacho was so good I made yummy noises. The flank steak small plate was perfectly cooked. Staff very nice and ambiance inviting. Brought me back to Spain. Good for solo or large groups!
We had the tasting menu and 13 different plates! We were so full when it was over but it was all so good!
Jaleo is my favorite restaurant in Crystal City! My only complaint is that they want to flip tables fast here, so service can feel a bit rushed if you order everything up front... I suggest you order a few plates at a time so that you can space them out.
It was pretty good food but seems to have slipped a bit in quality over past year. Had several longtime favorites including tuna with potatoes and beans, cheese plate, Spanish omelette, lump crab salad, and jamon plate. It has been better... but still a good meal. The Spanish omelette was simple but excellent, but neither the tuna salad nor the crab salad were as good as I recall and it was not the tunacrab quality that was lacking. The meat was still high quality but the sauces/dishes weren’t great.
Great “real” tapas but need to add Churros to desert menu! Nice ambiance and great service. Would definitely go back.
Food was awesome! Portions were small (like tapas should be) but quite filling.
Food was great but honestly it was a bit overpriced. You still wake up hungry in the morning.
Great tapas, our waiter was patient and very accomodating. My friend (from out of town) and I met up to catch up and we wanted to enjoy the food/sangria as well as chat. He did not rush us at all!
As, always, on the mark- great food, great service, great opportunity at Jaleo!
Jose Andres never disappoints, and just a quick lunch with friends is still a culinary vacation for your palette. I love his restaurants and hit them any chance I can. His work as a human being helping his fellow man are even more impressive than his fantastic menus.
I’ve been to Jaleo a lot and it is one of my faves. Brought newbies with me and they loved it! I’ve brought two more into the fold!
Love this place, always have!
I don't have anything against Jaleo. Our server was very helpful in helping us order and came back to check with us often. There just wasn't any dish that really wowed us. It was all fine. Would I go again, probably not.
Overall very good dinner- one course was undercooked but the others were fantastic. The atmosphere was great- good level of energy. Service was excellent also.
My friends and I were in town from Charleston for a girls’ getaway. Me and two of my friends decided to go in together on tapas. We ordered the mushrooms, stuffed peppers, rabbit confit, garlic shrimp, scallops, patatas bravas, and a paella that was under the tapas section. The only thing I would say I was impressed with is the scallops, which was phenomenal. Everything else was good but not great. I have a Spanish tapas place I go to in Charleston, and they have similar items on their menu as Jaleo. I ordered based on what I would order in Charleston, and maybe that wasn’t Jaleo best dishes. However, in comparison, I thought Jaleo couldn’t compete. The service was good, but our server made us uncomfortable toward the end after she had given us our checks by staring at us like she was waiting on us to get up and leave.
Great stuff, thank you!
Have used this for several business meals.
They have always done a top notch job here.
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish! Knowledgeable & gracious staff, incredible service, welcoming atmosphere. One of the best places to get together with friends & share fabulous food that I have ever been to. Will DEFINITELY be back!!!
The price of the Sunday Special Tapas meal, without any alcoholic beverages, was so incredibly reasonable that I had to check the bill twice to make sure they didn't forget to include something. The food was exceptional. Our waiter was a delight. Definitely going back.
We've been coming to Jaleo for years, and the food is fantastic. But..... I don't know if the portions are getting smaller but even for two to share some of the tapas, they seemed very skimpy. We will continue to go to Jaleo but will questioning our waiter/waitress in the future for more details about the size and amount of our dishes.
food is good.
Very good, and plan on returning
I'd heard of good things about Jaleo for many years and only knew of the one in DC. Not sure why I never made it there but I'm happy to find this restaurant in nearby Crystal City. Great ambiance, great food and service - and convenient free parking after 4 pm! I'll be back!
Great food and drinks! I'm never disappointed when I go to Jaleo or any Jose Andres restaurant.
terrific food. Try the paella and a selection of small plates. Reasonable and tasty wine choice around $50/bottle. worth a visit.
Great variety of food. Highly recommend the fried eggplant, Catalan spinach, and piquillo peppers. Vegetarians/pescatarians may want to ask about ingredients as a dish came with an unexpected ham garnish. However, the restaurant handled the situation very well.
Always so good!
So glad I made a reservation here. The place was packed when we arrived. Even though we had a reservation, we had to wait a few minutes for a table to clear up. No big deal. There were three of us and we each ordered three to four tapas. Definitely a lot of food. Service was great and so was the food. Jaleo is a favorite and we will be coming back.
I’ve been to jaleo before and was looking forward to eating there again, Unfortunately I was disappointed this time. Especially the paella. You could taste nothing but salt and that’s covered up the calamari. Thank goodness the shrimp was cooked separately bc that was good. I don’t think I’ll be back again. I don’t know what happened.
Jaleos is my go to place for dinner or a weekend brunch. Can depend on them for great food and service.
Cheeses were great. Fried foods were overdone and not flavorful. Calamari was bland.
This was one of my favorite places to eat when I visit DC and I brought a friend with me expecting a wonderful dining experience. We were both extremely disappointed.
The paella is absolutely delicious (I had the one with shrimp and squid)!
Service was just shocking. Only 4 other tables in use in the restaurant and it took us 10 minutes to be waited on? I almost had to search out our server to get a second glass of wine. We would have liked to have coffee with our dessert, but never saw the server until he brought the bill way after we'd finished dessert. Lovely food , but I don't know if I could recommend the Crystal City location based on the "service."
Came here for restaurant week. I was very happy with my selections- bacon wrapped dates, shrimp, fried potatoes, salmon and chocolate dessert. Even though they are small plates, I left feeling satisfied! Waitress and supporting staff were attentive to filling up water glasses/removing plates and food was delivered hot and timely. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back soon.
I met my friend for lunch; the staff was quite friendly and helpful. If you’ve never been to Jaleo before, don’t be intimidated. They explain the menu, the “family style,” which dishes are best suited for sharing and which aren’t. Everything is delicious; not a clunker on the menu. Parking is a snap and they validate (up to an hour). A terrific experience.
The Restaurant Week Menu was fabulous. I especially loved the beet salad and dates wrapped in bacon. The high ceilings and elaborate wall decorations make this a very special space. The service was fantastic...great teamwork by the wait staff. Our dinner of many courses moved along at just the right pace.
Delicious! I went for Restaurant Week and had excellent food. I'll go back soon.
