I had been to Jaleos before and I LOVED IT!! The menu was unique and extensive. Since my first visit to Jaleos I have moved out of town for two years and I had now just moved back a month ago. My entire time away I kept thinking that when I got back in the area I would visit Jaleos for some delicious tapas! When I finally paid them a visit I was so upset by my experience. My service was perfect! They were soooo fast, our drinks were constantly full, and the server was super knowledgeable about the menu. She even was able to give recommendations about what foods would pair well with what. There is nothing that our server could do to perform her job better; she was EXCELLENT. The disappointment from the experience came from the FOOD! There was hardly any flavor to it. It tasted like no salt had been added and there wasn't even salt or pepper on the table to use either. The portions were wildly small and I understand that they are supposed to be because they were tapas, but the pricing was absurd for the quality we received (HORRIBLE). Then we thought that we may have just ordered bad dishes but then each plate we got was consistently flavorless. I've had chicken cordon bleu from a freezer pack that tasted more flavorful then the chicken fritters. The dipping oil for the bread was bland as well, like it wasn't even extra virgin olive oil, just regular low grade oil with clove of garlic dropped in it. BLAND. The other plates we ordered look beautiful with nice presentation but each time we tried a new dish, it left us disappointed again. Lastly, I went to the bathroom and the maintenance of the facilities was like that of a gas station. Super dirty, a faucet that dribbled water, paint chipping on the walls, and grout filled with gunk by the floors. I was SO disappointed because the restaurant that had left an imprint of culinary bewilderment in my life was now a place that I never will visit again and advise others not to as well. A cheap place trying to be classy.

Jaleo is a national treasure. The founder is a food genius. But now, they have raised the prices so dramatically, that it no longer is a FAIR value. Can you imagine...the Spanish anchovies (sardines) used to be priced around $15 for a tapas-sized portion. Now, they ask $30. And a "carafe" of Sangria (red), containing a bit less than one bottle of wine: $43!!!!!. That Sangria is excellent, but this same recipe and wine was previously, perhaps $24. SOOOO, what must be done to bring this price escalation under control???

Not as good as it used to be. Service was spotty. Food was average and disappointing. Overall thinking I will not go back anytime soon. Too bad. Used to be fun.

Met a colleague and friend for an early dinner as he passed through town. Had one old favorite and one new dish. The flamenquines were as good as always. The new dish had scallops with raisins and pine nuts in a reduction of Pedro Ximenez. It was excellent; I’m sure it’s one I will order again some visit. The restaurant is usually very noisy, but because of the early hour was only moderately noisy tonight. Service was prompt and knowledgeable.

We tried the "medium size" tasting menu and weren't disappointed. Rather than the wine pairings, our waiter helped us select a brut rose cava and a tinto. A delightful evening.

I hadn't eaten at Jaleo in a while but it didn't disappoint. The food and service were excellent. It's a great place to go with friends or family. I went with a friend and we shared the sautéed spinach, button mushrooms, hangar steak, and roasted onions, plus a flan for dessert. I though the roasted onion was good, not great, but it's one of my friend's faves. My only complaint is that it was noisy but that's a problem in many restaurants these days.

I’m Spanish and so I know the cuisine well. Food was good, not great. But service was excellent, great ambiance, wine selection was good, nice bar area. China Chilcano by Jose Andres was much better with regards to food. Regardless we had a lovely time.

I met two friends for dinner. The decor is beautiful, and the service was excellent. It happened to be during Restaurant Week in Northern Virginia, and there was a special menu. One thing I did not like was a rule that required ALL of us to order off the regular menu or the special menu. I had had a late lunch and was not very hungry. My two friends wanted to order from the restaurant week menu, which meant I had to also. It was too much food for me. But the food was delicious. The gambas al ajillo were perfect, the flan was great. I can't remember the other items I ordered (there were five) but they were all good.

Fabulous food, good prices, fine service--but good luck holding a conversation--the music is way too loud. Several requests did not result in a lowering of the volume.

I (female) arrived first. No one came by but the guy with water. I finally flagged down a waiter fir a menu with all its pages and asked for a Salty Margarita. The waiter told me the bartender said they were out of Triple Sec — on a Saturday night. My male companion arrived, expressed disappointment that there would be no Margaritas and, as if by magic, the bartender found the Triple Sec. When we were nearly finished, a third Margarita arrived for my male companion “extra full” to make up for any inconvenience caused to male companion. I then described my long wait and denial of a Margarita and demanded a free one on the bartender for her behavior. It arrived in “Sec”onds

There was a small glitch with our reservation but Rebecca Janson, the Training Ambassador on site, as well as our wait person, Caroline, more than made up for it. Service was professional while friendly. The food was interesting, delicious, and presented beautifully. It was a wonderful experience. This will be our go to restaurant whenever we are in the area!

We all agreed that the food was good, though there wasn’t an abundance of it. It is very expensive! Even though dishes were around $12, you needed a lot of them to make a meal. The Sangria was the best I have ever had, have the sangria, you won’t be disappointed. 3 people = $170.

Still quite good, but the kittle touches seem to be missing. Not a fan of the newer bowls and white plates, the few fried dishes were a tad greasy, but the salads and paella were very tasty.

Great menu, good drinks. I visited another location a few weeks back and it was also superb. Strongly suggest making a reservation, as the place can get busy. Bar area is nice, and the weekend happy hour is a good value. Lots of variety in the alcohol selection. House sangria was very good, and the Ultimate G&T was not just tasty but beautiful as well.

What a great evening and dinner! Our waitress was perfect, her recommendations were wonderful, and it was a fantastic evening to sit outside. My friend is allergic to pine nuts, and to a person, everyone who brought a dish to our table assured her that they were aware of her allergy and that her food was 100% pine nut-free. It was just a great evening, all around. THANKS, Jaleo!!!

Had a business dinner at Jaleo Crystal City. The restaurant was clean, the service was great and the food was outstanding. It was the first time anyone of us had a tapas style dinner. The waiter did a great job of explaining everything and helped us with selecting our food. Every dish we had was fantastic including dessert and drinks. Our clients loved the place and food and so did we. I would recommend this place to anyone. The price was on the higher side but I have no regrets and would do it all over again.

Food was generally excellent, except the calamari which was somewhat uninspiring. I expect to pay more for good quality (which this was), but $150 before tip, for two people was high, considering we only had three drinks between us

My first visit to Jaleo since about 3 or 4 years ago. I remember being a bit disappointed the last time but this time the service and food were excellent. We were a group of five and everyone, without exception loved the food. We ordered about 10 tapas dishes and that was just enough for us. The waiter recommended 3 dishes per person but we knew we were not big eaters, so 2 each was plenty. We had the rose, which was a bit expensive and resulted in a bigger bill than we expected. Otherwise, based on the food alone it was good value for money. I certainly have no problems recommending the restaurant.

I love your restaurant, however, please serve your Gambas in a traditional terra cotta cazuela. They are just not hot when they come out in the bowl, and it ruins one of my favorite spanish dishes.

It was date night for my husband and I. We have been to Jaleo on one other occasion and I couldn’t wait to go back. So when he asked me what I felt like eating that evening, I didn’t hesitate to tell him Jaleo. We had a pitcher of Sangria which was very delicious. We are both huge fans of Jamón Iberico. So we had a few Tapas that had the Jamón and we also had the Calamares with the squid ink and the Duck. Everything we ate was amazing and we could have always eaten more but we wanted to save room for dessert. We love the food but we also support José Andres due to his Philanthropic work and feeding those who are suffering. Do yourself a favor and try Jaleo
