Attentive waiters, quick service. We were there for a couple of hours and never felt rushed to leave as we were enjoying conversation.
Good interesting food
Food and service were excellent. This is a reliably great place to dine for any occasion!
We usually have a great experience but service was very off on this occasion. We spent almost two hours on what should have been a one hour and fifteen meal. Pretty disappointing.
The food at Jaleo, service and atmosphere is always excellent at Jaleo. Enjoyed the Gazpacho, Chicken Fritters, Shrimp with garlic, hanger steak, cauliflower and artichokes- all fantastic.
We always enjoy Jaleo, but even more lately. The kitchen, management and staff seem to be back in sync. Bring back locally farmed vegetable specials!
Had to wait for half an hour for a table even with a reservation.
Another great meal at Jaleo. Always interesting and tasty. I brought a friend from out of town who very much enjoyed it.
The restaurant has a great wine list. Unfortunately, you can't always get the wines on the list. My concern isn't that they were out of the wine, but that it took 50 minutes between the first order and then the re-order for any wine to get to the table. By that time, we had finished the food with no wine.
We were seated outside, and when a sudden downpour hit, we were able to be easily reseated inside. They were very pleasant about our change.
Outstanding food. This was quite possibly the best tapas we have ever eaten. That includes sampling tapas across most of Spain, plus several major American cities. Bravo! We will be back!
Jaelo's continues to impress! So pleased with some of the items brought back on the menu -- Had the short ribs and they were delicious! Everything was fresh, and wonderful. Our go-to restaurant -- it's never missed and our favorite place to dine!
Everything was so good.
Everything was great with the exception of the rabbit I ordered which was over-cooked to the point that it had a beef jerky texture.
Wonderful in every way.
The tapas in this restaurant were very good and the shrimp paella we had was excellent! This is a good choice in Bethesda for authentic Spanish food!
Food and service were delicious as always. One of my favorite places in the DC area.
Food was underwhelming. I had a much better experience at the China town location. Something was different about the tapas here and a number of dishes didn’t taste the same. Service was good though. Hence the 2 stars.
Service was extremely slow, despite being off rush. Food was okay, but just okay, not terribly inspired or interesting. Several dishes were quite flat, under salted, with no 'bloom' to the flavors. This was the tasting menu. It certainly did not inspire me to shell out the $ for MiniBar.
Normally a fabulous restaurant and experience, but the service was really off this evening; one order never showed up, server often disappeared, error on bill needed correcting (5/31/18).
We always enjoy the food at jaleo
Jaleo is an gastronomic experience. I tried the Salt Air Margarita, wow! I am a Margarita snob, blew my doors off.
Transporting my wife and ai back to Spain with all the tapas we had. What can I say, there is a reason why Jose Andres is such a world rebound chef. Attention to detail.
Water was constantly being refilled. Each tapa was expertly described by the server. Awesome!
All I can say is, Ole, Jose Andres!
Do yourself a favor and go. Much less expensive than having to fly to Spain and all the goodies in one place!
This is NOT spanish food!!!!
The tortilla de papas which is the simpliest thing to do and so characteristic of spanish tapas was literally an omelet
with a few floating thin slices of potato.
Ham was cheap and scarce.
The paella that was stated “good for 4” was not even a portion ( I am someone who does not over eat) The portion was 2 table spoons of rice, with 2 shrimps on top. No other “sea creatures” included...the taste was horrible and they did not use characteristic paella rice, but rather risotto.
I would NOT RECOMMEND, don’t waste your evening!!!
Jaleo is a great place to go if you love to eat. So you could go alone and die happy, but go with friends and share even more tapas. There must be something on this large menu I wouldn't like, but I haven't found it yet. Go hungry and indulge. Go with friends and relax and have a good time. Both DC and Bethesda have the kind of ambience where you feel like you've walked into a party, although I've never had trouble hearing the other people at my table. It would be possible to stick to a diet with many options on the menu, but the bread is delicious and if you get gambas, you'll want to dip your bread in the sauce. The staff is helpful and the table is cleared frequently. Desserts are great too.
we paid 30 dollars a plate for a tasting brunch menu. Our portions were so small that I left hungry and 90 dollars. My guests wondered after the meal why the cost was so much and the offerings were so small. I gave been there for dinner many times...all good...but proably would never go back for brunch...talked with the manger after.
We love Jaleo and come for all our events, birthdays, graduations and each time I find new things to try. Drinks were also great. Would recommend it highly.
The reservation was smooth & our group was seated on time in a good location. Servers were decent, but our waitress (Katina) was haughty & oddly negative, which was strange b/c our group of four that arrived on-time and were easy to please. I really enjoyed the food and chatting with our friends, but her personality left me with a bad impression. Our group spent over $250, and did tip. With all the other choices in Bethesda & DC we won’t be back anytime soon.
OK, nothing special. Probably will not go back. Overprice with just ok service.
Went to Jaleo to celebrate my wife’s birthday and the occasion was wonderful! Awesome food and great service!
Went to a happy hour at Jaleo for first time with a friend. Prices and selection for happy hour drinks and food good, reasonable. The endive salad was delicious, light, nice mix of fresh tastes. The paella was brown, unappealing and had very little taste. I would not order that dish again. Waitperson pleasant. Would go again.
Very nice outdoor seating.
Food always reliable.
Service is good.
Our waiter Fernando was very excellent. Food was all well prepared and very tasty. Service was just what we wanted (we told him our needs). I loved the white Sangria, too.
Excellent meal and great service. Loved the shaved fennel salad and spinach with pine nuts, shrimp, grilled ramps - everything was good. Incredible rose recommended by the server. They gave us a great table tucked away. We had a great time.
This is a great place. The food is very good and our waiter was excellent.
All the parties in our group loved the food. Lots of small plates and a great selection
I really love Jaleo, a major contribution to improving the food scene in Washington. My favorite dish was the fried eggplant, delicate with just the right amount of batter. I also liked the dates with bacon. I think we ordered three out of four dishes were fried, so next time I will order things that are not fried. Thank you for a great meal. The highlight was the dessert with chocolate mousse (?) and thin crunchy brioche.
Overall, went well. Got together with college friends - able to hear one another talk. Drinks - wine, mixed and sangria were all a hit. Service started out great but then got less and less attentive as the evening progressed. Waited too long for check to be handled. Good, solid option for drinks and tapas!
I’ve been to Jaleo many times and love it!
This is a wonderful restaurant in a city featuring many excellent dining options. Everything I’ve sampled here is delicious, creatively assembled and presented, and a bargain in price for what is offered. The hosts and serving staff were lovely —they seemed to care genuinely about their dinner guests and about assuring customer satisfaction and a desire to return. It made a ordinary dining occasion memorable.
