Jaleo - Bethesda

Sadly , Bethesda Jaleo does not compare to the DC location in food quality or quantity. I can order the same salad, go example, and it seems as if two very different recipes were followed - including different amounts of ingredients. This used to be my favorite restaurant in Bethesda , but it now seems to make little effort .
Very disappointing. The way to win back clientele is to improve, in quality and in quantity of the significant ingredients.
The food was excellent and the service delightful. The only thing that caused me to count Jaleo down was the inability to conduct a conversation at anything less than a yell.
My group tried about a dozen dishes, and loved all but one of them. The bacon wrapped dates were a particular favorite, as was the cauliflower.
Always wonderful food, lovely service and a great experience
It’s just the best restaurant in Bethesda especially if you like vegetables
Jaleo is small plates, and there are a number of good options on the menu. However, I find there are a couple of fantastic items (garlic shrimp, for example) and several decent-but-not-mind-blowing options (sausage in white beans). This set up makes Jaleo a solid choice for large groups, but it’s not my favorite of JA’s restaurants. The inside decor is funky and fun, but I prefer the outdoor seating, especially during fall and spring.
My wife and I shared four tapas: eggplant/red peppers, pane tomate, jambon iberico, and fried green tomatoes. Plus my wife got the mussels. The four tapas were great, but she said that the mussels were just OK. We had a white wine recommended by the staff--Granbazan--which was very nice, but a little lighter than we wanted.
We picked food from Tomatina menu; I would not recommended it at all
Took our daughter and roommate to dinner. Both are researching at the NIH.
The meal was spectacular and accommodated the vegan in the group.
Fun evening. The server opened the window next to our table and gave a great sense of also being outside. Plus, I love that José Andrés cares about feeding people in crisis.
We like sharing Tapas, and Jaleo does a good job. It had been a while since we had been. We missed the rosemary lamb chops, but our choices were delicious: fried green tomatoes with blue cheese, asian crispy eggplant with honey dressing, potatas bravas, hanger steak, and ham wrapped trout. The only drawback on our anniversary visit was the very noisy reunion going on in the bar area, which is tightly integrated with the dining area. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time.
I probably go to Jaleo too often and I should try a couple more spots in Bethesda. That said what brings me back to Jaleo is the first rate quality of the food. Each dish appears to have been prepared one minute ago. It’s a four star restaurant at 2 star prices.
Good waitstaff, ask for Fernando. He knows what he is doing.
Son’s birthday, Food and service was excellent, as always.
We had fruit flies on us on the window and flying around but was very annoying and unhealthy. I did notify manager but he just thanked me.
Sat outside on a gorgeous evening. Shared five yummy tapas and a dessert. Our waiter was very accommodating and delightful.
We love Jaleo, but this was not our best time there as we were inundated with tiny flying bugs around our table. It really made it hard to enjoy our time there.
Food and service was great. It was however very cold inside the restaurant.
My husband and I ordered the 25th Anniversary tasting menu with wine pairing. It was exceptionally delicious and an unforgettably special evening. We are long time appreciators of Jose Andres, his cookbooks, cooking/traveling series, and restaurants. Entirely worth the price.
It was excellent. Food was great and service very good
This restaurant never disappoints. The food is always delicious, and it was a very generous menu for restaurant week. We had excellent, excellent service.
It's always a pleasure eating at Jaleo.
My daughter and I started eating at Jaleo in DC in 1994. We just went back there for Restaurant Week on Aug. 13th. Now we frequent Bethesda Jaleo more often because it is closer to our homes. I have never been disappointed in a Jaleo meal including the excellent service.
As always outstanding menu, excellent food and good service.
Restaurant week is always a time to go to Jaleo! Five courses with three choices each of the delicious Tapas offered there. By far the best thing was the salmon with the crispy skin with two sauces. We always order the potatoes bravas And the spinach with pinenuts, raisins and a-wonderful cider vinegar dressing! It is a wonderful experience except that the air conditioning was broken that day.
We always enjoy a terrific meal at Jaleo -- try several different tapas and share or not -- Very creative selections and all mouth watering. Note you also receive excellent service along with excellent food. At least it's been consistent for our family for many, many years
Jaleo is one of our favorite restaurants. The food and service are excellent.
Food and service was great. We went during restaurant week.
My friend and I went to the restaurant for restaurant week. we had never eaten there before and decided to try it . the food was absolutely delicious and we would certainly recommend it to family and friends the only down side was the noise level. Part of the restaurant was closed so everyone was seated to one particular side. Also the wait staff were too quick to pick up the dishes . We felt a bit rushed.
Jose Andres' restaurants have always been a favorite of mine. Each food is crafted with care and delicateness that makes the experience extra special. It was pretty busy when we were there so it took for our orders to get in. But even so, the experience still good!
Visitors in town
Best food in the area- especially croquettes de jamon!!!
We went on restaurant week. Loved the food and drink!
Very interesting fare, done with a reliable quality. Well served.
One of the best places ever! We stopped by for a dinner and the place was semi-full at 6 pm, however by the time we got our appetizers is was packed full! Judging by the tone and conversations of the people around us - they do come here often, which speaks for itself.
The staff was going above and beyond! Food came out quickly and the portions were just the right size. We sampled half of the Restaurant Week menu (10 tapas for 2 of us) and every single one of them was simply delicious. I did not even take any pictures as the food was gone momentarily! Endive appetizer, watermelon salad, patatas bravas and chicken fritters were EXCEPTIONALLY good! Very interesting and unusual flavors!
We loved the place and def are coming back!
Cleaning the table next to us with a noxious smelling chemical while we were eatingWas my only complaint.
The food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Enjoyed the restaurant week menu. Plenty to select from, came out staggered and freshly prepared. our server kept checking in to ensure our selections were delivered.
good as ever! But the Restaurant Week bargain -- which we didn't know about -- was better yet: many of their best tapas, and more than we needed to eat.
My criticism is of both the service and the food - we (party of 3) ordered off the very limited RW menu, with basically a one time interaction with waitstaff for our entire meal. It felt like a crime when some attention was needed - e.g., could ice cream and sorbet be placed in a dish rather than 2 scoops of ice cream. It was a large quantity of food, but the only truly tasty dishes were the cauliflower and the spinach (perhaps the flan, which I didn't taste). Since one of us ordered an extra, more appealing dessert, the staff could/should have also offered a third RW dessert. I have been a fan of Jaleo for years, and was disappointed by the RW offerings overall.
I was really excited about going to Jaleo but my experience was pretty bad. I went with two other people and I got served all my tapas first and my guests were not served for at least 15 minutes after. Two of my dishes had hair in them and the manager did not handle it well. I also only saw my server about twice during the evening so I couldn’t even fix any of the problems that kept coming up. I was pretty dissatisfied!
The service was excellent and the food, quite good. The gazpacho was first rate and the chicken main course was fine. Although the cauliflower dish was slightly undercooked for my taste, the combination of dates and olives in which it was cooked was novel and I would try it again. And of course, the flan did not disappoint. Jaleo remains one of my favorite brunch-lunch go-to's.
We had the Classico tasting menu. Some things were outstanding. I would have preferred to choose the items. They seated us beside the kitchen, which is not a nice thing to do to people who made reservations weeks in advance. Server was charming, but he was rushed. Decor great. TOO LOUD.
