Jake's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
To me this is a pub with food, good for going out in your neighborhood, but the middle level seating is not so great. Pretty view on the top floor, and nice bar on main level, but food is just ok. My filet mignon was not at all impressive for a place called a Steakhouse, and it was no less expensive. Drinks were good. Desserts were not. I'd comf for drinks as a main focus and get some bar bites if I return
We needed a spot for a quick lunch near Manhattan College. I am pretty certain this is the best option. I had a club sandwich and my friend a burger. Both were perfectly fine and the service was very accommodative. I have eaten there previously also for dinner and it is quite nice, and the upstairs is more quiet if you prefer to be away from the bar.
Food and our waitress , Samantha was awesome!!!! Bar was a total
Let down , we arrived early to have a few cocktails the bar was not very crowded ,2 bartenders and it took me to almost jump on top of the bar to get one’s attention 😡then we waited and waited had to tell the bartender again what our order was, a few minutes later he tells us they are out of Tito’ s and have to go downstairs and get more, what???? It’s a Saturday night 600pm and you are out of titos???? Someone did not check the bar when they got to work, at that point we decided to sit at the table and have our drinks. 4 couples we wined and dined on porterhouse steak for 2 ( yes all of us) bang bang shrimp off the chart delicious!!!! 3 of the couples were new to Jakes and they were all extremely happy with our table service and dinner choices!!!
Another exceptional meal at Jakes. We feasted on lamb chops, bone in filet and a T-bone steak. The meat was cooked to perfection and delicious. Jake's never disappoints. If you hesitate because of the location, let it go! We recently were guests at a very popular NY Steakhouse on 49th Street. We had to wait almost a half hour to be seated, and it was extremely crowded and noisy. While the food was good, it was not exceptional and the prices were over-the-top. As a Westchester resident, there is absolutely no reason for me to travel to the city and deal with traffic and parking when I have a perfectly amazing restaurant 20 minutes from my home. Your car will be valet parked, you will be treated like family, and you will have a thoroughly enjoyable dining experience from cocktails through dessert!
We were a party of 5 this past Saturday night, and were a little disappointed to be seated at a round table next to the bar on the first floor. We usually sit upstairs, so I didn't ask. It might be a courtesy to ask guests of they mind sitting in the bar area, because it is noisy, and the table was on top of a table for 4. Otherwise, Jake's food and service were very good! Thank you.
The service was excellent from the people who greeted us at the entrance to the
staff who served us at our table. There wasn't a long wait at the table when we sat down.
The person who served us was 100percent kind and served us quickly and efficiently.
The food of course was outstanding. My steak was delicious and all the side dishes were delicious.I would recommend this restaurant to all my friends.
Excellent drinks. My vodka martini and my friend's Manhattan were both tasty, strong and double the size of the usual drink.
The food was quite good. I had the boneless short ribs (mashed potatoes and red, sour cabbage) and he had skirt steak with mash potatoes. Food was very tasty and plentiful. The waiter was attentive and efficient, the ambience somewhat upscale but not pretentious, and the prices are reasonable. They have valet parking right in front.
I know this is generally thought of as a neighborhood restaurant but it's good enough, if you live in the Bronx, Upper Manhattan or Yonkers, this should be a 'destination' restaurant.
Looking for something other than the Arthur Avenue fare in the Bronx. Although we had to drive from Fordham University, it was worth the drive. Excellent steaks on the "early bird" prix fixed menu. The appetizers and dessert included were all quite good. We will go there again over the next three years.
I was looking forward to dining here since the reviews were great. I don't know if it was that we had reservations 1 hour before the kitchen closed but the steak was not what I expected. It was cooked to our preference (medium) but for some reason was still dry and tasteless. The only good thing about it was the size! Otherwise, the sides were great as well as the wine and service. Sadly, I dont think I'll ever dine here again.
My husband and I along with two dear friends celebrated our 20th Wedding Anniversary at Jakes. We are not strangers to the restaurant; in fact it is one of our favorites for many years. As anticipated, the food was excellent, the service was perfect and a good time was had by all. Jake's never disappoints!!
Very good food! I had the Petit Filet, Jake style. Jake Style is a blue cheese sauce on top of the filet with paper thin amazing fried onions and a port wine reduction sauce. You can get it in the side which is a nice option. My husband had the porterhouse au jus. Sides were excellent, had the garlic mashed and cream spinach. Service was excellent!!!!! Only complaint was the bread was very dry. Had the bread been better would have been a 5.
Our first time at Jakes, our 27th wedding anniversary, was perfect!! Steak was heavenly! Tender, tasty, seared to perfection! Staff was inviting, friendly, attentive. Place is quaint, didn't expect so many stairs, but was thrilled to be upstairs. Nice view, super comfy roomy booths and tables. We truly enjoyed and will be back!
We have been to Jake's several times over the past year (we started going after stumbling this hidden Bronx/Westchester gem). The short review is that we have never been disappointed. The food is very good, well prepared and larger portions. The dessert menu is decadent, if you have any room left after the meal. Service has always been first rate. We were seated this time next to a large (and somewhat noisy group) but it did not dampen the experience. My dining partners choose the Sunset Menu (first course, entrée and dessert) for $29.95, a great value and I splurged on the Bang Bang Shrimp starter and the Surf and Turf entrée (a more expensive choice). The beer menu is varied and very good with a good choice of wines available as well. We will be back and recommend it often to friends.
