Jake's Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
Seated promptly. Pomegranate martini delish and substantial. Butter was soft (yay!). Petit Filet cooked to perfection. Garlic mashed could be a little more garlicky. Sautéed onions sweet and creamy. The next one is partly my fault...I asked for the bread pudding to be warmed. When I received it, the bread pudding was almost "toasted." I just wanted it warm so that the vanilla ice cream would be melty. The noise level was a little too loud, but I am noise sensitive. Overall a good neighborhood place.
My husband and I came here for our 12 year wedding anniversary. This was our first time here; many people recommended this place to me. Our server Keith was so awesome and great! The food was phenomenal, we will definitely come back here again! Thank you for making my anniversary a positive experience
Love this steakhouse! I split the porterhouse with my daughter and my wife had the T Bone steak Jake Style ( blue cheese and fried onions ) on top. I love the homemade BBQ steak sauce. It's got a real nice kick to it. The asparagus side was perfect and Mac and cheese was good too as sides. My favorite side when we go there is the garlic mashed potatoes. We've been there plenty of times and it never disappoints. Love there French onion soup. For dessert I had Jakes bread pudding that comes with vanilla ice scream. Delicious! My wife had the creme brulee which is a classic and my daughter had the apple crisp, which I couldn't resist to taste. Awesome! Our waiter Brendan was attentive and always came to us at the right time. Great service, love the atmosphere, great selection of craft beer and good mixed cocktails. We'll be back soon!
This place is awesome. My only gripe, which is a small one, is that I was charged for seltzer water twice, which usually doesn't happen. I guess I'm spoiled. The restaurant even called me to let me know i left something behind. I live this place and it's highly recommended. I will be eating here again and again.
After hearing good things about Jake's, I was highly disappointed. I had a $ 44 T-Bone, which was difficult to chew. I was with a customer who seemed to enjoy his steak and I did not want to cause any embarrassment by sending the meal back. I ended up eating about 1/3 and took the rest home. Excellent business evening, but very disappointing food evening
While me and my dining partner did not get steaks, which presumably is this establishment's specialty, we found that there were plenty of other options to choose from. I have the salmon with shiitake mushrooms with Dijon sauce, which was pretty good, although the chef was VERY heavy-handed with the Dijon sauce. Salmon was swimming in it. My dining partner had the chicken franchese, which came with mashed potatoes and broccoli, all of which were reported to be good. The service was pretty slow, as it took quite a while to get our food and, given that we were there at 6:00 on a Monday night, this shouldn't have been the case. Parking is a major issue being that the restaurant is across from Van Cortlandt Park, which always has an event going on, but they do have a valet parking option.
The decor in the place is fantastic. Parking a little tough but they have a valet service. The service by the wait staff was outstanding and attentive. The food was a little less than expected. I had the Jake's Filet Mignon. It was different interesting combo of bleu cheese and fried onions but the steak was slightly dry (medium well). I would definitely go again though.
Seated promptly on the middle floor. I took a trip up to check out top floor. Was very noisy. Pomegranate martini, big and delicious. Petit filet...I ordered medium (which is defined in all steakhouses as a pink center) but there was a 1/2 inch of purple. I ate it, but it was not medium. Garlic mashed potatoes could have been a little more "garlicky". Sautéed onions were cooked well but were not caramelized, therefore not bursting with flavor. Bread pudding a la mode was delicious, but first sent it back to warm. Service was fun, welcoming and attentive.
Our son is just steps away from here at Manhattan College. Jake's is on the College's website as a suggested dining spot. Since the boy was not coming home for Easter we spent the weekend in NYC. We came here for dinner on Easter Sunday and came away with our new favorite steak house. We have been customers of many great steak houses in NYC and the rest of the country and I can say Jake's blows them away. Of course we all had some form of steak. the boys both got a filet which was huge, my wife got the T Bone , also huge, and I got the surf and turf. Excellent all around. We also ordered the onion soup which was stellar, not over-salted, just a touch of sweetness from the caramelized onions and nice blend of cheeses. The boys regretted not getting a lobster tail so we added a couple on toward the end of the main course. We also got a couple of sides of mac n cheese. Most steak houses have this staple but Jake's took it to the next level. Our waiter Brendan was terrific, a great mix of attentive and knowing when to be scarce. Top notch server! He made us feel as if we were his only table even though they were packed. Great beer selection and innovative cocktails. I'm usually a beer or bourbon guy but their offerings were outstanding. Try the Spicy Apple and the Maple Old Fashioned. Wow! We were all stuffed but who could refuse dessert. Try the bread pudding which was great, light and flavorful not just a lump of dough that sits like a rock. The carrot cake was very good, made by Lloyds, a couple doors down. Overall an outstanding meal and will definitely be going back.
Great place to have dinner with family and/or friends. One of the few hidden gems in the Bronx. The service, food and view of park was a great! Porterhouse for 2 fed 3 people and so much juice! Steak was cooked to perfection. This place and setting will make you think you are not in the Bronx!
Really good food. The filet mignon was excellent, perfectly cooked and tender. The only problem is the noise. Large parties who aren't aware of themselves can easily make it intolerable for others. Maybe go early before there are too many people. Otherwise, highly recommended.
We had a working lunch and the food and service was outstanding. They served us promptly, but never pushed us to finish up our 2-1/2 hour working lunch with customer. We took a large table with 3 of us so that we could put papers on the table. Worked out great.
Good place in the Bronx for steak, would have rated higher, but was disappointed; made reservation and specified a booth. Arrived early, seated and when I asked about my Rez preference was told "yes you did", but there are none currently available. A few couples had just been seated in booths, didn't even have drinks yet.... why bother asking if no real effort is made to accommodate...
