Jake's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
The HILL of onion rings was so yummy and large, I can only imagine how huge the mountain is. We had a gift card from here and decided to finally go because we are moving out of state and I am super disappointed we never went sooner because it was great. I had the filet trio and they were cooked PERFECTLY. I thought drinks were over priced but the food was priced very comparable to other steakhouses. Definitely worth it if you live in the area.
Four of us all thoroughly enjoyed our steaks/sides and Eric, our server, was exceptional. The cocktails, beer and dessert were also perfect. We had a nice table where we could easily converse and the waiter kept us posted on the WI/OSU score. Unfortunately, he couldn't influence the outcome.
Friday battered fish was tough as if undercooked and potato pancakes were actually hard to cut with a fork and tasted as if they were deep-fried in oil that was old and had a strong burnt flavor.
Have dined many times at Jake’s over the years and always happy with the food and service. Something has changed to see quality drop this low. The wine was good🤙.
The last time we were at Jake's was over 20 years ago. The level of service and quality of food has not changed. Incredibly good. Our service was excellent. She understood when food should be ordered and delivered so we could enjoy a wonderful meal. We would highly recommend Jake's for great quality dining anutime.
We met friends for dinner and again had a great time. Their were 7 of us and we had a variety
of entrees. Their steaks and Berkshire pork chops were outstanding and their Throwback Monday night special of steak and haystack onion rings for $14.99 can't be beat. Our server, Mary Jo was excellent!!
Would highly recommend. A few drawbacks...service started a little slow. Was a little cold in the corner. Flourless chocolate cake was pretty bland. A good steakhouse should always offer key lime pie. Other Than that, a pretty outstanding visit!. Butternut squash soup was incredibly good. Filet was perfectly prepared. Get the bernaise sauce. Flavor was so good with the steak. Side dishes were plentiful. Bread loaf was great. A really wonderful meal. Will go back again...and again..
I go to Jakes 5-6 times a year.. I would say the food is consistently very good. The fish and seafood is very good (the walleye is great!), the brusslesprouts are the BEST!!!!.. steaks are very good but not prime.. great supper club atmosphere with nice servers.
Prices were high. A spotted cow cost $10.50 (Tap). Both mine and my husband’s order were incorrect. I order a ribeye with Jake’s secret sauce, wild rice and Mac & Cheese. When they brought it out they gave it to the wrong person. My husband ordered the ribeye in cracked peppercorn with double baked potatoe and cream of spinach. His steak came out without cracked peppercorn, his potato was over cooked and burnt.
Will definitely go elsewhere next time. Very disappointed.
Nice hostess and waitress however the dining room was very cold and their room heater cycles so the room would periodically warm and then become uncomfortably cold although we were all wearing sweaters. The hill of onion rings was huge, not greasy and very good. One of the entree specials was halibut. Sadly, It was very dry, over cooked and under seasoned. The NY strip was cooked to order and ok. We also had the duck which was terrible! It was over cooked and had a mealy texture. Honestly it seemed like it was re-cooked and may have been spoiled. My husband and I both felt sick after dinner and all night long. ( we were the only people to try the duck). The creme brûlée dessert was nice. We all had not been to Jakes in many years and now have no intention of going back.
The service was very good. With the exception of the delicious onion straws, the portions were small and the prices were high (similar to a high end Chicago steak house but lacking portion size and ambiance). The drink prices were especially high to include rail brand cocktails. Despite the good service, I would not recommend.
Went to Jake’s for a business meal. The drinks, appetizers and meal were outstanding as usual. The service was great as the meal was paced perfectly. Their steaks are always great but have enjoyed their pork chops and crab legs. The fireplace in the dining area is nice during winter too. We will be back soon.
Jake's supper club is one of my favorite spots. I'd have to say last night was a little and I mean really little disappointment for me. The soup was to die for but the king crab legs were just ok and not very meaty. Seemed like a lot $$ for a little. I guess that's why I usually have the steaks. They are outstanding as are the sides. Brussel sprouts still my fav.
We enjoy Jakes every chance we get. From appetizers to desert. Panko and hazelnut encrusted Walleye...the steaks....no disappointments here on the whole menu. Great wait staff that remembers you. Even the bartenders will thank you for stopping in as you leave. You feel WELCOMED!
Jakes is a Historic Gem for foodies and has evolved with the times to include seafood and seasonal options. It was sad when the North Avenue location closed - and so great that the Brookfield location survived. And now also has Jakes Burgers that we would also highly recommend.
All servers -hosts, bartenders and waiters:waitress-are always pleasant and hard working to make every dining experience enjoyable. Jakes is known for their steaks-but the seafood options and seasonal sides are always a great choice too.
Jake’s opened in the early 1960’s when you could get a good tenderloin fillet dinner (with a cocktail) for $5.00. The steaks were always tender, and the onion rings superb. Many years and many steaks and multitudinous onion rings later, Jake’s is still delivering the same quality product -albeit at a much higher price. Jake’s has been one of my favorite area restaurants for years; my entire family loves this place! Highly recommended. (Half price wine bottles on Wednesdays too)
My wife and I chose Jake's because of its location and exceptional reviews / ratings, and we weren't disappointed. Nearly every single element of the dining experience was incredible, from the appetizers to the delicious filets, sides and desserts. Our server, Kelly, was amazing, with a quick sense of humor and a knack for checking at precisely the perfect times. We will definitely be back!
