Jake's Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
First off, our server Mary was absolutely outstanding! We arrived early for a 6 PM reservation and were seated right away due to the full bar area on Valentine’s Day. Wine selection and appetizers are delicious. We had the bone-on filet mignon on which was terrific. All of the à la cart sides were delicious except for the creamed spinach… It wasn’t really creamed just very greasy/buttery spinach. Our only major complaint was the closeness of all the tables. It is a very cramped dining room and does not lend itself to private conversations. Open up the space and this would be a five star rating. We will definitely be back but in the middle of the week.
Attitude at desk is they could have cared less if we were there. We got there early for our reservation and politely asked if we could be seated earlier. The dining room was about 10% full. No way! Not like let me check or let me try and find somewhere for you to sit to wait all that time...........after 15 minutes or so two people left the bar and we sat there to eat. Never any follow up, canceled our Open Table reservation and the food was very expensive and lukewarm when we received. Too bad this is an iconic name in the area. My parents went there in the 1960's and food used to be excellent.
The only thing I had a problem with, but really isn't fully their fault was it took 30 min past our reservation time to get seated. They assign reservations to a table instead of ad the tables come available, but the food was well worth the wait. The waitress I had was amazing as well, realty nice and helpful.
Off the charts deeeeelicious! I'm a foodie and absolutely everything we had from a starter salad, appetizer to our entrees was flawless....cooked to perfection and so flavorful. We kept looking at each other with each bite and repeating, "this is sooooo good".
*Get a reservation and enjoy a beautiful dinner~
Always a great experience at Jake's. Never had a bad experience. The food was phenomenal. Our waitress, Kim, is excellent and we will be requesting her for all future visits. She remembered us from a year ago and always has spot on recommendations. Never have we been disappointed in the 20+ years we have dined there. 1000% recommend and so worth the cost.
The food was as good as always. It seems like the menu has been changed to get people to pay for a la carte. Entrees now come with a salad OR two sides. Other than creamed spinach, though, the only sides that don’t have an up charge are starches. So, to get two sides with the price of the meal, you either need to get spinach or two different potato dishes. I missed the days when a salad could be one of the sides.
I also didn’t care for our seating. We were seated in the bar area, which would have been ok (not ideal) but next to our table were some barrels where the staff was stacking trays with dirty dishes. It really detracted from the atmosphere.
Very disappointed in our experience. The waitress got our order wrong and then argued with me that the ordered I ordered was wrong and never corrected it. She forgot our drinks, our sides and the dinner took an hour to arrive. This is not the service I am used to at Jakes and I will not be going back anytime soon. However the bartender made one heck of an old-fashioned!!
I had not been to Jake's in many years. What a pleasant surprise - a really great and varied menu. Had several business associates in town for meetings and everyone was very favorably impressed with the experience. Our waitress was particularly good - a real pro - you could tell she had been there for many years.
Wow, what a find this place was. Totally off the main beaten path in Brookfield. The restaurant is in converted barn , all timber so it has a lovely warm, cosy, friendly atmosphere. Food was fabulous! Service was spot on. Portions were huge. Wine list was very comprehensive. Definitely worth coming back.
Celebrated a birthday with friends. Good quality steak. Duck was delicious. Drinks reasonably priced. Entrees pricey. Service ok.
Our drinks were placed on paper coasters cut-out from old menus, however, which we all thought was a bit tacky for a quality steak house. Our server brought a special birthday sundae to the table which wasn't asked for. Nice gesture but when we went to pay the bill, there was a $7.00 charge for the sundae. Really! Spending hundreds of dollars for the bill and they couldn't provide a little complimentary sundae.
