Jake's has definitely gone down hill. The food is priced like an upscale steakhouse, but quite disappointing as the food does not measure up to that expectation. Surprisingly smaller portions compared to the past experience but still higher end priced. Service was ok.
7:30 dinner Monday special, good value and quality.
Ran out of onion loaf just before we got there and that was motivating factor in our choice to go to JAKE'S. Been enjoying that since Jakes was on 61st & North Ave.
Disappointed but I'll live.
Family time together with Great Food and value!
Flavor and atmosphere was great. Presentation was a bit underwhelming. Side choices were a little confusing. Beer was not cold, but cool.
Great food, great service, friendly staff... drinks are a bit overpriced and the dining room was extremely loud - poor acoustics IMO. We were there to celebrate our anniversary, so not a very quiet romantic table... BUT we'll be back and ask for lounge seating next time! thank you Jakes!
We started with bacon wrapped water chestnuts- always great! I had filet 6 oz. medium rare. Perfect! My husband had the ribeye medium rare - perfect. The only problem was when the bill came. We each ordered a brandy old fashioned sweet. The bill showed old fashioned KORBEL. 12.50 each. We did not call the brand. $25 for 2 drinks left us disappointed with Jakes. Also the waitress knew we didn’t order KORBEL. $25 for 2 drinks is outrageous.
Nice space. Had the walleye which was very good. A wedge of lemon would have made it even better. The non-alcoholic drinks were good, but seemed pricey at $9 - $10. While the abbreviated placemats were different (very small) not sure that they accomplish much.
From the momment we walked in we knew we picked the right place. We checked in and sat at the bar and Amanda, our bartender, was there to help us out. She was attentive and poured a great drink! The dining are was just the right size and the food options were good. Our steak was done perfectly and the sides were great. The French onion soup was especially good. Great atmosphere to done in and we will be back.
There was an hour wait for our steaks. Once received they were good. The waitress apologized for the delay and referenced some problem in the kitchen. No one around us seemed to be getting any food. The lengthy delay affected our dining experience. I think most people would expect a favorable experience for steaks costing $40 plus.
Our meal was fantastic! We have been to Jake's many many times and it never disappoints. We had oysters, steak, a seasonal salad special, a fish special and amazing craft cocktails! Great service and atmosphere. :)
My guests had steak and there were excellent. The Duck was dry not a acceptable based on Jake's standards. Food was a little slow coming out of kitchen. Overall acceptable
Always good, a place for celebration! Friendly, attentive service / great steaks.
Great food in a comfortable environment. Been going to Jake’s for years and it never disappoints.
A wonderful dinner with family, food was perfect, service was wonderful. A big shout out to our server Tina who did a great job over and beyond with service!
Love Jake's! Great place to go for a nice dinner with the family. Special occasion or not! Love the Monday special - how could you not love it! Was the perfect night to eat outside! But love the inside ambiance also. Yes I'm a big fan.
Awesome time!!!!Food was phenomenal!!! Our waitress sorry forgot her name but she was outstanding!!Bartenders were great!!! Will be back!!!
Wonderful food and atmosphere, great drinks. Will be going again.
We had a wonderful dinner. Delicious food and great service. The only thing that kept it from being romantic on our Anniversary was a large table on the other side of the dining room that talked extremely loud. I hope that they had a nice evening as well.
We both had steak. Both prepared perfectly and mine may have been one of the best that I’ve ever had.
Went for a birthday dinner. Drinks and appetizers were amazing. I had seared Viking scallops which were superb. My spouse had short ribs which looked amazing. I was going to try them but they were gone before I had a chance. We ordered dessert and the last creek brûlée was accidentally served to another table. They then comped us another dessert of our choosing. Staff was very friendly and attentive on a busy night. We will definitely be going again
The bacon wrapped water chestnuts and short ribs were amazing. However the French onion soup was literally burnt and the bone in filet was extremely fatty and unappealing. Our server was very nice and brought my husband a sundae for his birthday. We will return but it's unfortunate that a restaurant known for their steaks fell very short. Palmer's and Kurt's are much better steak options in the Lake Country area.
We always enjoy the Monday specials . It’s a great evening with family eating delicious food. We look forward to our next visit.
I made the reservation for 5 persons but mistakenly put it for 7/29 instead of 7/22. The hosts were extremely accommodating and made our evening so enjoyable.
wrong night to go..crazy busy.. noise over so welhming had difficult time talking to and listening to my table mates!!!! Will not go on Monday night.
As always Jake’s is great. The concern is that the prices are quite high.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. Cannot pass up the opportunity to dine at Jake’s when in town.
New bartenders are awesome! Food was good, enjoyed our meal.
Celebrated our anniversary - wonderful food and service, really a special evening
Excellent food. Very creative menu. Wonderful!
We really enjoyed our evening at Jake's. Although there was a problem with our reservation the manager quickly corrected it and every thing ran smoothly. The waitstaff was exceptional esp. our bartender Eric.
The food; steaks and onion rings were what made Jake's famous and why we keep coming back!
Beautiful restaurant with amazing food and drinks! Perfect for a date night. My husband said the old fashioned was one of the best he's had. Will definitely be returning for another dinner!
We haven’t been here in years and I mean over 15 years. The onion rings were exactly as we remembered. The food was very good. The only complaint I would have is drinks were very expensive in relation to everything else. Service was good but a bit slow. Definitely didn’t feel rushed.
Best steak tartare and tuna tartare we have ever had, in addition to their always-excellent filet mignon.
Steak was excellent...everything else ok. Drinks overpriced!
Good food. We ate the Pork Chop and had a Filet and of course, Haystack onion rings.
Excellent food and atmosphere, I highly recommend Jake's! The steak was outstanding!
Every single thing we ordered was amazing! Grilled octopus appetizer, dry aged steaks, mac n cheese, mushrooms, deserts, even the drinks (new fashioned) were excellent. I highly recommend.
I did not realize that I booked a table in the bar area. The person that seated us was a little snotty when I told him that I did not realize that I did this and was wondering if he had anything in the dining room area. Not a nice person. I think that he could have handled it a little more politely!
Waitress was excellent and that food was outstanding!
Everything we ordered was good. The furniture was visibly worn and old. The dining room is one big room. Not romantic at all. Needs work inside and out. The bar area is still nice.
had fish fries cod was great, others had perch ok. salads were great, had the brussel sprout salad super. service was good, nice atmosphere
Jakes has been one of my favorite restaurants for over 50 years. (In the 60’s, you could get a small tenderloin, the best onion rings, dessert, and a cocktail for $5.00!) Today’s prices are a lot higher, but I’ve always considered the restaurant a five star. Things were just “off” a bit last night. It took 35 minutes to get a cocktail; service in general was slow; we had to ask for condiments; the bill was incorrect. The food was still every good, but the overall enjoyment was tainted by the service. I’ll want to return again soon and hope that this was just one not-as-good experience. They DO make a mighty fine steak and the best onion strings in town!
Their Monday night turn back the clock special is outstanding.
