Always solid service with initial greeting by Haley. Bonus round, impeccable service from fabulous Ms. Kristi and team.
We enjoy the food with amazing service. Thank you 🤙🏼
Our meals were quite good and I especially liked the wedge salad. My husband's salad was HUGE, and he said it also was quite good. We both enjoyed our entrees that evening.
Great food, great service! I would recommend Jake's to anyone.
Thank you for the very wonderful meal on Veteran's Day. My wife and I had a wonderful time. Gladly reccomend Jake's to anyone heading into downtown.
Celebrated 2019 Veterans' Day with complimentary lunch. The Blackened Rockfish on Crispy Lobster cake was delicious.
Without a doubt, the worst food we have had in Portland!
Someone needs to have the kitchen look up a recipe for Chilaquiles, and then follow it carefully. What I got was plate full of mush!! The Yamhill scramble was also a poor dish, with the so-called Jake's crispy potatoes nothing but a shoe-leather look and worse taste.
Will not go back!
Great ambiance! Service was beyond amazing! It was our first time in Portland. What a friendly city! Jake’s was a last minute decision and a great one! Fortunately Open Table had reservations available. The Dungess crab dip was yummy ( but not enough for three), the French onion soup was wonderful.. comfort food. We also ordered the fettuccine short ribs ( basically beef stroganoff!). Excellent.. and the steak Diane. Great cocktails/wine. Did I mention how awesome the service was??!! Lol
Amazing service and spectacular Filet Mignon. Always a good idea tongrt the Creme Brulee for dessert.
Great restaurant with attentive staff and great food. We had a great time celebrating a birthday dinner and would not hesitate to go back!
It was a birthday celebration and it was lovely. The server was so nice and helpful and the food was delicious.
See you next time.
As long time residents of Portland we decided to re-visit one of the iconic restaurants in the City, Jake's Grill. The dinner was a complete disappointment. First of all, one goes to a restaurant to enjoy the food and sadly, the food at Jake's was not worth repeating. The calamari was tasteless, the fish entre overcooked, the sides were swimming in fat and broth; in a word, the food was terrible. While many tourists are attracted to Jake's from it's long standing reputation I'm afraid this restaurant has fallen from grace and is living solely on it's reputation. This is not a place to bring visitors, business associates, or friends. Sorry.
Excellent place for a business lunch. Two of my colleagues and me had an outstanding lunch and the noise level was such that we were able to enjoy the meal and the discussion. We will be back.
Very average food, and nothing amazing! Much better locations throughout Portland that would be better to go to
It was my birthday dinner and I had an amazing experience! Outstanding service, very tasty food, and a wonderful setting. I would love to return for another occasion!
Five of us ate dinner at Jake's Grill this evening for my mother's 85th birthday. Our waiter was nice and tried hard, but the kitchen was off. The ribeye steak was undercooked and stringy, the crab cake was cold inside, the scallops were tasty, but had unadvertised bacon for a non-meat eater (they made another one without bacon). The grilled king salmon was good, as were the Caesar Salad and the complementary creme brûlée that the waiter provided as a peace offering at the end
I was extremely disappointed in my meal. The halibut was over cooked and very dry. Sauce did not make it moist. What a shame to ruin an expensive fish that can be so delicious. I expected more from Jakes especially as it was highlighted that evening.
Lunch service was so unorganized. It took 10 minutes to find a price for a lobster tail, which my elderly mother wanted for her birthday. I had to ask for her drink, which the waiter forgot. The lobster would have come on a plate by itself for lunch if I hadn’t asked for a side dish. The check included a meal for $25 that I hadn’t ordered. I wouldn’t return there again. It is a tired, old restaurant with clueless and thoughtless service.
We arrived early to celebrate John’s birthday. Impeccable service with great food and seating in the corner window table.
Thank you 🤙🏼
Love the atmosphere and location. Food is pretty overpriced for the end result. They will make it right if they mess up, but quality is not the best.
Have been to this restaurant several times, and am never disappointed!
We went for our anniversary. Staff found out and did so many things to make the night special for us. Our server was fabulous. We have been to Jakes many times and have never been disappointed.
Excellent service and dining experience! Went for a business dinner and will likely attend again.
Jake's Grill is the perfect place for Date Night in Portland if you want to be in a room with tons of warmth and charm, or if you want fantastic Martini's, or if you want the most professional, friendly servers in the world, or if you want consistent wonderful meals, then this is the place. A special thanks to one of our favorite servers Mary Ann, who always makes our evening special.
Almost all of our food was amazing. The kids popcorn shrimp was the only thing that wasn’t good (it was almost all breading). Our steaks, hamburgers and tuna were all fantastic! We were a party of 8, but they squeezed us into a table that was meant for 6 so it was really crowded and our waitress was just ok, she forgot items and hardly came by our table. We eat at Jakes every time we are in Portland and typically have amazing food and service.
Great food, especially liked the French onion soup.
The food was not very good. I had the Blue Plate special. The chicken was overcooked, dry, and tasteless.
Always enjoy coming here when in Portland. Food has always been solid along with quality service. The room is very old school and cozy which is a nice change of pace from more modern spaces found in many restaurants today.
Good food as always and being a landry restaurant the cash perks are excellent. Even got a free dessert in a landry promotion. Recommended.
Ordered my Steak Medium, made sure to ask if Their Medium was mostly cooked with a little pink. Was told yes, personally explained I wanted pink not medium rare. Steak came out Medium Rare almost Rare. Other then that, the food was great, I did eat the Steak, Our evening was going to well to send it back and disrupt our evening.
My filet wasn't very warm and my very large potato was very undercooked.
Disappointed this time around.
Server was very nice, but obviously new, had to repeat order, ask for items more than once. Otherwise all was very good.
With a reservation and plenty of open tables in the main portion of the restaurant, we were seated all alone in the hotel section of the restaurant that has no ambiance (we had button ups, dinner jackets and dresses so it want an appearance issue). A waiter in training couldn’t open a bottle of wine (all good but for an upscale restaurant this was kind of embarrassing for everyone). Ordered a Black Manhattan, told the waiter the ingredients because the bartender never heard of the drink and then I got a bourbon mixed with Jaegermeister. A basic cocktail at a high end steak and seafood restaurant shouldn’t be a problem.
After waiting a good 15 minutes after the salad course, Medium Rare steaks were both served extremely rare.
Not upset about the experience. Typically don’t complain. But Jake’s should be embarrassed with your effort. Especially in a town like Portland.
Vick Tori’s was a great server — very attentive and friendly.
Worst service I’ve ever had. It would’ve been a better decision to have left after the first 10 minutes. Food was pretty good, but we will never be back
Excellent food and service. The scallops were the best!!!
Jake's was delicious. Fresh seafood! Great steaks. Staff very knowledgeable about the menu!
A restaurant that does not disappoint! Will always come back.
Very professional, attentive service throughout dinner. The ribeye was amazing and the cream spinach was the best I’ve had. Thank you very much.
What a beautiful place. Loved wandering around. And, the food...best crab and louie salad I have had in ages. It had an abundance of sweet crab and shrimp. Our waiter was outstanding. Thanks
