Jake's Grill - Portland

Almost all of our food was amazing. The kids popcorn shrimp was the only thing that wasn’t good (it was almost all breading). Our steaks, hamburgers and tuna were all fantastic! We were a party of 8, but they squeezed us into a table that was meant for 6 so it was really crowded and our waitress was just ok, she forgot items and hardly came by our table. We eat at Jakes every time we are in Portland and typically have amazing food and service.
Great food, especially liked the French onion soup.
The food was not very good. I had the Blue Plate special. The chicken was overcooked, dry, and tasteless.
Always enjoy coming here when in Portland. Food has always been solid along with quality service. The room is very old school and cozy which is a nice change of pace from more modern spaces found in many restaurants today.
Good food as always and being a landry restaurant the cash perks are excellent. Even got a free dessert in a landry promotion. Recommended.
Ordered my Steak Medium, made sure to ask if Their Medium was mostly cooked with a little pink. Was told yes, personally explained I wanted pink not medium rare. Steak came out Medium Rare almost Rare. Other then that, the food was great, I did eat the Steak, Our evening was going to well to send it back and disrupt our evening.
My filet wasn't very warm and my very large potato was very undercooked.
Disappointed this time around.
Server was very nice, but obviously new, had to repeat order, ask for items more than once. Otherwise all was very good.
With a reservation and plenty of open tables in the main portion of the restaurant, we were seated all alone in the hotel section of the restaurant that has no ambiance (we had button ups, dinner jackets and dresses so it want an appearance issue). A waiter in training couldn’t open a bottle of wine (all good but for an upscale restaurant this was kind of embarrassing for everyone). Ordered a Black Manhattan, told the waiter the ingredients because the bartender never heard of the drink and then I got a bourbon mixed with Jaegermeister. A basic cocktail at a high end steak and seafood restaurant shouldn’t be a problem.
After waiting a good 15 minutes after the salad course, Medium Rare steaks were both served extremely rare.
Not upset about the experience. Typically don’t complain. But Jake’s should be embarrassed with your effort. Especially in a town like Portland.
Vick Tori’s was a great server — very attentive and friendly.
Worst service I’ve ever had. It would’ve been a better decision to have left after the first 10 minutes. Food was pretty good, but we will never be back
Excellent food and service. The scallops were the best!!!
Jake's was delicious. Fresh seafood! Great steaks. Staff very knowledgeable about the menu!
A restaurant that does not disappoint! Will always come back.
Very professional, attentive service throughout dinner. The ribeye was amazing and the cream spinach was the best I’ve had. Thank you very much.
What a beautiful place. Loved wandering around. And, the food...best crab and louie salad I have had in ages. It had an abundance of sweet crab and shrimp. Our waiter was outstanding. Thanks
Great place for a meal or happy hour. Food is top of the line and drinks are all you paid for!
Always great. Jakes never fails. Quality. Great atmosphere. Service exceptional.
Jake's is a beautiful setting with great food and good service.
Thank you Chloe and Mary Ann
Had a beautiful evening
Always a nice dinner at Jake's. Very pleasant old school dining room. Food was excellent as usual. I was surprised to be served a small broken up portion of rockfish, the rissotto cake was good, the crab corn salad was barely a few kernels sprinkled around, no crab was seen or tasted. Seems to me the price was $26-27, and I did think the whole dish was skimpy and overpriced, considering that rockfish is a relatively low priced fish. Im not a big fish/seafood eater, I look for fried razor clams usually. Didnt find them on the menu so I could easily choose the rockfish or fish and chips. All in all a very nice evening, and tasty chocolate molten cake for dessert. Waiter Robert was very attentive, and helpful. Jake's Grill is my favorite location.
Jake's Grill is the perfect place for Date Night in Portland if you want to be in a room with tons of warmth and charm, or if you want fantastic Martini's, or if you want the most professional, friendly servers in the world, or if you want consistent wonderful meals, then this is the place.
The only thing worse than our table was the entree .
A forgettable meal.
We met a couple we wanted the catch up with after two years. The waiter was attentive but not intrusive. We stayed 4 1/2 hours and felt welcome till the end. An ideal dining experience.
We had a wonderful dinner and great service. Anthony took very good care of us.
Mary Ann our server made our night negative. From the time she greeted us until the end, it was a disaster. Every question on menu or restaurant specialties was answered with sarcasm and negativity. If I could have walked out of the restaurant, I would have. The food was excellent but I will never return or recommend this restaurant.
We loved the ambience of this restaurant. The rich wood walls and architecture was very cool, including the grand fireplace. The bread was good but the butter portions were small. The salads were excellent. My wife loved her scallops. The crab cocktail appetizer was also great. My ribeye steak was only average. But the loaded baked potato was amazing.
A wonderful evening. Great food, service, atmosphere and great wine.
Would recommend this restaurant to those that enjoy really good seafood.
Excellent service and food. I ordered the lunch steak salad and the steak was tender and flavorful. Greens were fresh and crisp.
I frequent Jakes Grill several times per year. Business Breakfasts are usually spot on. Today it was a struggle as the flat top was not working and the Labor Day weekend has sapped the inventory.
Not only was the service phenomenal, but the food was absolutely delicious. This is a must dine for anyone visiting Portland. It was our anniversary and they were so accommodating. Even the menus were tailored to our celebration. Whenever we're back in Portland, we'll be dining here again!
Not very good. Will not go back when there are so many better choices.
Fabulous breakfast. Excellent service. Lovely hotel.
Delicious food, great service. A short walk from the Marriott. The only negative was a pesky fly nearby. Steaks were cooked perfectly. Our server recommended the berry tart for dessert and it was so delicious.
A great restaurant in Portland. Great service, great food, and a great experience.
The waiter led with asking my fiancée “when the baby is due”. She’s not pregnant and it made us both uncomfortable. We stayed for the meal, as Jake’s has always been one of our favorite places to eat, but this experience probably means that we won’t be back.
Best restaurant experience in Portland. Food incredible and service impeccable very highly recommend for your dinner plans. So good, we are dining there again tonight!
Friend I hadn’t seen for 15 years. Working on a project in Pdx till he retires.
It's difficult to find a place which takes reservations for brunch, so we chose Jake's Grill. Turned out, it was an excellent choice. It was quiet enough for three of us to talk easily, had very good coffee (one of my major criteria), superb praline bacon, fluffy pancakes and perfectly cooked eggs. But best of all, the server was so good: professional, friendly, quick, knowledgable. We will definitely be coming back here.
