We've been coming to Jake's for years and the food is always excellent. The service is wonderful and the location provides good people watching from the windows. Their menu is diverse and is a great value.
Great service, great location, and awesome food! A little spendy, but worth it!
Mostly all good. I wish they still had baked potatoes, and the tea used to make the Arnold Palmers was too strong and over-powered the other flavors.
Great Father’s Day trip to Jake’s. Apps and dinner were excellent.
Excellent food and service as always! Good to be back!
Good business lunch setting. Attentive service and a menu broad enough to accommodate all tastes. Two of our guests (who know wine) said it was an exceptionally well curated list.
Great server, great food, great location in Portland! Best place for a guaranteed superb seafood dinner!
Shirley is a good waitress. Pleasant and attentive. Scallops are good.
Delicious food and very nice wait staff! Atmosphere was quiet and intimate.
The seafood pasta & filet mignon are completely amazing!
Outdoor seating on the sidewalk/street is great - first come first serve. Cocktails are excellent and the plank salmon is to die for.
Jake’s Grill provided a perfect refuge for a post vaccination celebration !
I had the scallops and they were cooked to perfection .👏🏻
Our server was awesome too ; so we’re definitely going back !
Great , as usual.
We ate outside. The music was more annoying then nice. Maybe if it was a bit lower?
Food good. Nice variety of choices. Great service.
My favorite restaurant. Their blue plate special cannot be matched anywhere!
It was good, but not great. For what I paid I expected a better experience.
Jake’s pulled out all the stops for my boyfriend’s birthday. The halibut was presented so beautifully, and my tuna was divine. The chocolate torte was stellar!
The service was excellent especially considering reduced staff, the food was amazing and beautifully plated.
Great can’t wIt to go back on my next visit to Portland
We have been to Jakes several times and always enjoyed. This time was a little less than. The lobster that I had was tough and very difficult to eat. My wife’s was fine and she actually tried to help and realized that mine was different than hers. Didn’t really get but about 3 bites. Our server was inattentive and we felt like we were constantly waiting for something. Probably won’t be back for a while. It was nice to get out for a change though.
Great service.. vey attentive server..
Food is always good.. as well as the cocktails!
Steaks cooked perfect to our desired level. High quality. Wine list has some true gems at good restaurant prices if you know your wine well. Server handled a tough wine bottle opening very well and got it perfectly decanted. Mashed potatoes had amazing garlic flavor.
I was unimpressed, given the state of downtown, COVID and boarded up, you would think more effort would be paid to the customers they do have. The meal I had came with undercooked salmon. Too many other great choices in Portland to eat than to spend your money here.
The food was really good but my steak was cold. Excellent Pinot Noir available by the glass. Everyone else in the party had hot food that was very good.
Love everything about this restaurant. Food is great and the historic setting makes it wonderful to be there. The service is always great, too.
Really great food and service- also reasonably priced for the quality- thank you!!
The food was just average and uninspiring. Service merely okay. Typical formula chain restaurant.
Despite being busy, service was very, very good. Friendly, great recommendations, and timed perfectly. Small miss on the wedge salad; never the right amount of dressing/toppings, and the iceberg was old. Great mashed potatoes!
Our server, Tucker was very nice and accommodating. Great service and ambience. Our request to dine by the window was considered. Thank you. We'll be back.
Hands down, the strangest restaurant experience I've ever had - and I've been traveling on business for over 30 years, so that's quite the accomplishment.
I made a reservation for 8p and arrived right at 8. Upon arrival, I could see people inside eating, but the front door was locked and a young man was knocking on the door, trying to get in. Eventually the maitre d stuck his head out and said "We're closed." When I asked why, he said "We close at 8p." When I told him I had an 8p reservation, his demeanor completely changed and he said "Oh, you must be Mr. XX, well then come right in!" "But I thought you were closed?" "Well, we close at 8, and initially we thought you were someone else (??), but please, come in!"
We were handed menus and seated and about 30 seconds later, a waitress comes over and says "You know the kitchen is closed, right?" "Um, we were just seated and given menus." "Well the kitchen is closed, so you need to order everything now" and then she stood there waiting for an immediate order. "Do you need the order right this second?" "No, take your time, but I just wanted to be sure you knew the kitchen is closed." "Ok, I'm confused, is the kitchen closed or not? Can we order food or do we need to leave?" "No you can order, but you need to do it now." "Ok well this is all a little weird because we had an 8p reservation." "Yes and the whole restaurant stayed open for you." At that point I wasn't sure if I was supposed to say "Thanks" or "Sorry" or what. Who says that to a customer?
The food was fantastic. My salad never arrived but was on the bill, but you know, that happens, no big deal, we asked for it to be removed from the bill and it was. We were offered dessert, but at that point we felt so unwelcomed and rushed that we just paid the bill and left. As we were leaving, other tables were still eating, so I have no idea why we were treated the way we were treated. Extremely disappointing.
The food was on par with a cheap sports bar but with the prices of an expensive restaurant.
Salad toppings were good but I wish there was more then just the iceberg lettuce. Salmon stuffed with crab and shrimp were it stuffed. It felt like we order salmon. But overall it was a good environment to hang out. Our waiter was amazing.
We loved the food and the service. I also appreciated so much that after leaving a note that it was my husband’s birthday they surprised him with a special dessert with candle!
Thank you! We came for Mother's Day and we were pleased with the service and ambiance.
It's been awhile since we'd been out to a nice dinner and we're looking forward to a night out at a restaurant we'd enjoyed in the past. Unfortunately our service was really average. Many times we wondered where our waiter was, he didn't check on our food, and just generally was inattentive. Kind of spoiled a birthday/mother's day dinner.
Great service and very good food!
Enthusiastic service and care.
Overall experience was just okay. We waited for while to get a waitress to the point I had to go to the bartender and ask for assistance. The other issue is once waters were brought to the table thinking they would be clean I had lipstick on my glass just what I wanted with all the Covid Protocols in place. The food was good and the wine. The ambiance of the restaurant was nice. The waitress’s demeanor and attitude was somewhat okay. This could have just been a bad night but it was my first experience dinning there.
Always a great meal at Jakes!
My cedar plank salmon was delicious - tender, crisp, and perfect. Restaurant was super quiet at lunch due to CoVid, but Jake’s is always a good place to eat.
