Jake's Famous Crawfish Ratings and Reviews
Food was excellent. Seared ahi tuna, crab bisque, spinach salad, Ceasar salad were all winners. Cajun chicken and shrimp fettuccini had great flavor, but sauce should have been slightly thinner. Service went from extremely attentive during the first half of the meal to almost non-existent later on. Waiter engaged in protracted conversations with other diners. Been to Jake's many times and will certainly return.
Jake's never disappoints. I love this place. It is quintessentially Portland - outstanding service, ambiance and great seafood. I love going there for special occasions and as a treat for to-of-town visitors. My boyfriend and I enjoyed a lovely meal prior to seeing a concert at the Schnitz. It was an outstanding date!
We have enjoyed many meals here and other restaurants by McCormick's - this unfortunately was very disappointing. Other than the fabulous bread and standard good job on the steamer clams the food preparation was not up to par and service was a lacking. Fish and chips were dry and the waiter didn't offer choice of panko or beer batter, crab and artichoke dip was "dry" and nothing tasted like either main ingredient - had a spice to it but even the pitas were greasy, razor clams were overcooked and chewy, ahi tuna was most disappointing where the only flavor was of the pepper crust - the fish was fresh and wonderful but the approach to the preparation ruined the dish. Crab bisque was good but with no crab in the soup to speak of, and salads were just fine. Overall this birthday dinner (celebrating two bdays) was a bummer but we made the best of it.
Have been to Jake's many times. This was a sub-par visit. The Salmon was under cooked which is not what was expected for cedar plank salmon. The razor clams were over breaded and somewhat tasteless. On the positive side they were not overcooked.
The calamari appetizer was the high point of the meal.
WE were celebrating my father's 70th birthday! It was delightful. One of his all time favorite spots. The food is always amazing, the service is top notch and the recommendations were delicious. All though we were all full we made room for their sinful desserts and were not disappointed. Thank you Jake's once again for making a family celebration memorable!
Our 19th anniversary, we decided to go to Jakes Famous Crawfish and feel we made a very good choice. The food and ambiance of the 'original Jakes' was superb. However our waiter, Keith, absolutely put the cherry on top of the whole experience. He was, what I consider to be an outstanding waiter - he was very attentive (but not too much), he knew the menu forward and backwards, he brought a sense of humor, he clearly took tremendous pride in his work, etc. We LOVED it and look forward to going back! Thank you!!!
Jakes is a very special place to us as it is a long standing famous spot in Portland. They specialize in fresh fish but I had an amazing steak on my last visit. We went for an early Valentine's Day before I had to travel for work. They staff treated us like royalty. My wife ordered the crab stuffed salmon and said it was to die for. My steak was cooked and seasoned perfectly. Now days they are part of the Landry group of restaurants but you couldn't tell they weren't still family owned. Nothing has changed but now you get Landry credits for eating here.
Oddly, they don't have crawfish on their menu like their name would indicate but amazing fresh seafood.
