Jake's Famous Crawfish
We go to Jake's for our birthday celebrations. The wait staff, food and ambiance are always excellent.
The valet was not out in front and we circled the block until we saw someone. After walking in we were seated right away in the far back room, it was nicely appointed but I dint like the paper table cloth over the linen. At a “nice” restaurant I expect linen and not paper table cloths. The food was delicious, we started with the calamari, for the main course my wife had the lobster and I had the crab Louie. I have eaten here several times, last night was the first time I had a poor service experience. The place was busy but we were not attended to very well. Our server was nice, he just didn’t come around very often to refill our water and drinks, never offered us more bread and the food took much longer than normal to come out. As a guest in a nice restaurant my wife and I expect more attentiveness by staff, at least more often than every 10 - 15 minutes.
Great food and great service!
Once again a wonderful experience. Wesley is an excellent server.
We were having a going away dinner and everything was perfect! Our waiter was outstanding despite the fact that he had extra tables to cover as a waiter was out sick. The food is always excellent and he was able to suggest a way for me to get what I wanted and save money!
Jake's has that old-school feel. Clubby, good booths, a bit yesterday. It would work, but the food is expensive (45-50$ plate), and somehow matched the feeling that it used to be the place to be. The menu is large, so maybe we just missed it, but both dinners were unremarkable. Bummer and pricey.
Great cocktails, food and service! Always a hit with my family and friends.
We have dined here several times and it never disappoints. Appreciate the consistency of great food and great service.
Great service and meal
An old classic still worth a visit. Part of Landrey's/McCormick and S empire, but with some unique menu items that reflect Jake's history. Great service and ambiance. Great desserts. Try the three dessert combo. Seafood still good. I like the classic Seafood Newberg, but you can't go wrong with this part of the menu.
Always a great meal and great service at Jake's...
Great service, extra effort due to Big Old Birthday and great food!
Well, I am an old guy and I like fine old restaurants. Jake's is one of older, really fine ones, and we never miss it when we get, all too infrequently, to Portland. Charming ambiance, excellent food, diligent but unobtrusive service, highly capable bartending. A wonderful experience every time.
If you think about what you pay, it should be much better. The food was just OK but the bill was very high.
Greeted immediately with a smile. Excellent service and outstanding food. We are looking forward to returning soon.
Just letting you know what we ate and our opinions. French onion soup was really good. Blackened salmon on salad with orange dressing was not good at all. Husband had Manhattan clam chowder and he said it was pretty crappy. Petrale sole was very good. Wild cod with crab and shrimp was enjoyed by friend. The calamari appetizer is good if you use the dipping sauce. I think they need to pare the menu down and select those dishes that are exceptional and toss the rest because it seems like the reviews warrant this. It’s not a bad atmosphere to enjoy lunch or dinner. Our server was great.
Heartily recommend Jake’s Famous Crawfish. Delicious and fresh seafood. Plus a trip back in time.
A great evening! Lovely, classic setting. Fantastic food. Top notch service. Highly recommended.
The food was mediocre at best- nothing interesting about its preparation or quality. It seems like a restaurant that has not moved forward in a decade. It was very busy ( we were there during the week and had a reservation), but the service was terrible. I would not recommend it. There are too many other great seafood places to eat in a Seattle
Always good food and fresh seafood. We enjoy Jakes for special occasions and impromptu dinners.
Been some years since we have been back to Jake"s and as always the seafood selections are great and the ambiance fantastic. It always nice to find an establishment that has never changed their mission.
Great waiter! Fabulous food, as always. Best atmosphere in Portland.
Food was only warm and salmon was not cooked through, although the crew finished fairly quickly ( 8 min wait). Service was fair and seemed rushed.
Always fresh food. Banana Cream Pie is the best. Great service.
I love Spinach and the Spinach salad was awful. You're better off with a grocery spinach mix with any over the counter dressing. It was the worst salad I ever had. Next was the Seafood. We had fish. Ahi was old, dated covered in grease to mask the lack of freshness. We're from out of town and We went there for the name. First and only.
Wonderful menu with fresh fish choices that change daily. Friendly, knowledgeable staff
Service and food fantastic
We went to Jakes for a birthday. We thought there was a weekend brunch menu and were a little disappointed that brunch was Sunday only. However we loved our meal and my daughter-law loved the Happy Birthday message printed on the daily menu that she could take home. Also appreciated the complimentary birthday dessert. Awesome service and food!
Brett was a fantastic waiter and the food was amazing!
First time dining and it was fabulous! Our server, Keith, was friendly and even more so he’s personable. This will now be our special occasion spot!
Perfect location for our pre-Armory-show dinner, fantastic food, impeccable service, yummy drinks, able to move our reservation since we were running late (traffic), able to move our party to a table from a booth
Booths are NOT comfortable for larger folks and we had to ask to be moved to a table, patrons seated next to us as we were eating had WAY too much perfume on and—while I know this is not the restaurant’s fault—it greatly affected my enjoyment of my entree because the perfume scent was so strong.
Delightful dinner typically great Jake’s ambience
Always a great evening there...
Food was excellent and service very good. Entrees in the $40 and appetizers mostly in the $15 to $20 range. At least here we all got what we paid for. Alcohol/wine prices were below normal prices and portions were generous. When we left at 7 the place was packed on a Wednesday night. Would recommend for eating near the Pearl District .
Love the etouffee
Our food was great, Steve was our server and he was fantastic and made the whole dining experience memorable.
Jake’s is an old favorite, but it’s not wearing as well as might be hoped. Noisy after work. Dulled by alcohol, not too noticeable, but all too apparent to the non-drinker. Maybe it’s just me, but the restaurant seems ever-more machine-like — part of the McCormick & Schmick’s assembly line approach. Service this night was good, but it was a struggle to attract our server’s attention at times.
Spinach salads were fresh, but plain, with an undistinguished orange vinaigrette (I don’t like raw onion on salad). King salmon, simply grilled, was excellent. Sautéed spinach instead of garlic mash was fine; accompanying string beans were uninteresting (al dente, but waxy). The planked Pacific salmon was less successful as an entreé, a little mushy with so-so flavor. Steamed? Probably not, but the dish did not impress.
Bread was chewy and fresh, but lacked a satisfying crustiness. NOTE: whipped butter is not a hallmark of a fine restaurant. Actual butter was located in the kitchen, but it was unsalted. A regret.
Coffee was very good, although presented sweetener choice was limited. Again, a search of the kitchen produced something suitable. Desserts on a tray looked heavy and over-rich. We walked across the street for a scoop of ice cream from the justly popular Ruby Jewel.
So, what about Jake’s? I’ll be back. Seasonal specialties are still well handled at one of Portland’s oldest restaurants. Can’t do anything about the buzz; basically it’s happy noise anyway. But ditch the whipped butter. It an embarrassment.
It is a must do event. Went with three others and everyone had a great meal and a great adventure.
Food was amazing, the server's suggestions were so spot on!
Food did not live up to all the expectations we arrived with from all the promotions
I made reservations for my Father's birthday, and they printed special menus for us that said "Happy Birthday!" So thoughtful!
