Jacques Restaurant and Bar
Jacques is a Bar/Restaurant in the Marquette Hotel and it suffers a bit from the hotel traffic. The service was very good and the waiters/waitresses were very attentive and offered very good service. We have eaten here before. The menu is concise but everything we have had there was attractively prepared and tasted excellent. The shrimp scampi starter is excellent. We would go there again, especially if we stay at the hotel.
Wonderful service! A very personable waitress. Food was great!
They did not honor our reservation. No one should ever go there
Based on the quality of the appetizer we decided to go somewhere else for dinner. Ordered the meatball app and it was over cooked, dry and very tiny. Menu was limited. More of a place to have a drink and not food.
The food was good but just ok. Our server was excellent, very attentive. It just doesn't seem to know what it wants to be as a restaurant. The décor is more upscale, but then they have televisions with nascar bringing it more into a sports bar vibe. The food was mediocre. There was nothing really wrong with our night at Jacques, but there was nothing that made it a memorable experience for the dollars spent either.
Only 3 entrees available for Valentines day - were expensive and not as advertised on Open Table. Had a reservation, but there was no host - just the valet at the hotel lobby desk. One server for entire restaurant made wait times for service extremely long. One redeeming quality - food was nicely presented and delicious.
Outstanding service and food, as always.
Salad was excellent. Risotto was quite good. Filet was overcooked, as my medium rare became medium well. But the flavor was good. Service was quite friendly but very slow as there was only one server for all of the tables.
The service was slow and lackadaisical. The menu had some great starters, but nothing on it screamed northern Italy bordering on France.
While our meal was good with generous portions and fresh ingredients, the service was slow and haphazard. With only two other tables occupied in the restaurant we didn't understand why this should be. We would not return.
I took my husband for his birthday and we were pleased by the service. food and ambiance.
Service and food was good. Be sure to STRESS if you have a food allergy. We had a mishap, but the waitress and manager were both very concerned and helpful.
Took forever for a waiter to get to us despite the restaurant being empty. My dad’s filet wasn’t very good. The pizza I ordered was nice though.
I’m pretty good at making the arugula, tomato, Burrafato, and fig salad, but Jacque’s was better. The toasted gnocchi was very midwestern style, which is what you hope for in Minneapolis.
This is basically the Hotel Bar. So not much on the menu, limited cocktails, no ambiance as it's a hotel bar. Food was hot, tasted good. So would be great for a quick bite, but not for a normal dining out evening. We wouldn't have chosen this if we'd known it was the Hotels lobby bar.
One server for the whole restaurant. The food was poor, and very expensive. Would not come back.
We went on a Saturday night and the food was delicious. We had the charcuterie board with the smoked duck and it was outstanding. The service was really great.
Went on a very quiet Thursday night to try a new place. Service was extremely slow considering there were only 4 tables (10 people total). It took a very long time for our food to come. Waitress was very nice, but there were many long gaps without seeing her. Food was OK, but all things considered, we decided no need to go back.
We did not have a great experience. The restaurant is located in the lobby of the hotel which is not evident on the website. It sees a lot of traffic and does not feel “special” as it is not sequestered from the front desk/check-in area. Furthermore, the prices are very high for sub-par drinks and food. Service was slow despite the restaurant being practically empty, although when our server did actually come around he was friendly and knowledgeable.
While the food was very good and I was surprised at the vegetarian options, I was not completely happy with Jacques. I was pretty sure we had eaten there previously, but we were unprepared for a hotel bar with one very overworked waitress. What changed?
Sunday night business trip. Great food - dry rub wings, leaded chips, several salads and goat cheese pizza. Not too heavy, but quality and filling. Randy took great care of our team - super attentive and the right amount of energy for a Sunday night.
Service and food was excellent only problem was they did not check me in for reservation so got. An email that my points were not being awarded. Contacted Open Table and points were awarded.
Nice for a quick bit to eat or a cocktail. Server Janice was excellent. A variety of food options; quality is good, but nothing special. Cocktails are noteworthy.
Little under staffed I thought. My food wasn’t great, but it was a fluke. The server took it off my bill and bought me dessert. She was great!
Restaurant was pretty dead by 8pm. Food just okay. Services was very slow given how dead the restaurant was.
Great food! Service was slow at the beginning
Not impressed. Heard it was one of the top restaurants in Minneapolis— I’d rate it about a 4/10.
We went back to have a drink the next day and the bartender was almost rude...like we were bugging him when we asked for a drink.
Cocktails were great. Wine service was dismal. We ordered a bottle of wine and it didn't come until dinner was ending. We reminded our server twice about it. Short ribs were like an over-done steak rather than the fall apart consistency you would expect. Burrata pizza was very good. I bet it would be good with wine - if you can get it.
Will go back for great cocktail some day.
Hal is such an asset! Great service!
Granted our reservations were made during Superbowl weekend, the service and restaurant was extremely poor. Our reservations were at 9:15pm and the server didn't even come to our table for 10 minutes and drinks for at least 30 minutes. I decided to order a bottle of wine so I wouldn't have to wait for the waiter, but they don't leave it at your table (and if they are supposed to, ours didn't). We ordered two appetizers and an entree to share. The brushetta was ok, the shrimp scampi were cold and the entree was ok (I don't remember the name of it).
The restaurant is located in the lobby of the Marquette Hotel. Yes, it snowed and was cold, but when you have tile floors, you need to clean that up versus putting out "slippery when wet" signs. The restrooms for the restaurant were in the lobby, one women's and one men. It was disgusting. Funny thing, the front desk is literally right across the hall from it and they couldn't be inconvenienced to ensure that the bathrooms were stocked with toilet paper, paper towels and empty the waste baskets.
We will never go back to this establishment again. It was expensive for the level of service we received and there are too many others in the surrounding area to check out. Save your time, money and just skip this place!
We were in the restaurant on super bowl weekend. I am sure that this wasn't the type of crowd that they normally deal with. The staff was extremely nice and very helpful even though they were clearly overworked. They seemed to have crowded more people into the dining room and bar than normal which made it hard to get around. Totally understandable on this big weekend. The food was decent, but not exciting or interesting. Not bad for a hotel restaurant.
This restaurant was great ! food was awesome and service was exceptional.
Jacques is on the first floor of The Marquette, a great hotel. The space has glass walls to Marquette and 7th, I think it is. Great space to watch the world go by.
What a delicious surprise! I had never been to Jacque's and so glad we tried it. The food was absolutely delicious, the service was sublime. The only shocker was why more people weren't there... I HIGHLY recommend it and will definitely go back!
Really disappointed with the burrata pizza. Pretty sure it was plain old mozzarella. Tomato base was overpowering. Cute space. Had 3 meals at hotel - all meh
Excellent service and attention to detail!
The restaurant quality, cleanliness, and atmosphere is indicative of the recent renovations and our server's attention and sincerity was above par..knew the showcased drinks and dishes well! Despite the fact it was 4:30 pm on New Years Eve, they were "out" of ingredients (fresh berries) for their signature flagship drink at the top of the menu..?? Really? C'mon management! Our server made up for the manager's oversight despite that. The food quality and flavor was outstanding, really enjoyed the gnocchi dish and the Artisan pizza... Bruschetta some of the best I've had! Unfortunately would give 1 star to the hotel itself as twice in an hour and a half the bathroom was without ANY hand towels or paper waste overflowing out of the garbage, generally speaking the one-stall bathroom (and the ONLY) in the lobby were dirty, wet and not picked up despite 4 staff milling about the front desk who seemed apathetic at best when I politely mentioned it. Unacceptable for a "curio-collection" Hilton property!
Lovely Christmas Day brunch. Enjoyed the low-key approach to "volume brunch," emphasizing scratch-made quality instead. Everything was perfect, from the starters through the entrees and dessert. Killer shrimp cocktail!
A pricey Thanksgiving buffet with spectacular views, good food, decent service, and again great views.
I felt like we were at a buffet at a wedding reception, not a restaurant. A waste of money.
