Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
The service was excellent but the extent of selections was a little under what we normally see at Jackson’s. The sushi was cut poorly and was extremely thin making the presentation less than desirable. Possibly new management? Will probably give it another try later.
The vegetarian burger was decent, but for the upscale restaurant that this is, I would have expected more vegetarian/vegan options. My date ordered the filet mignon and according to him, it was excellent. The service was decent, but we were ignored for a good 15 minutes before anybody asked if our server had come by. Overall experience was good.
Service was good but the reason I booked the reservation was because it was billed as sushi bar. The seafood was fresh but the quality of the presentation and cut of fish fell flat. I could have gotten better at an all you can eat Chinese Restaurant that has sushi near where I live. The rice was not packed and fell apart in the soy / wasabi ...the tuna was paper thin. It was amateur hour.
We met friends here and there is nice waterfront seating and warm inside seating environment. We tried the sushi, but would not recommend this restaurant for its sushi. Our friends had a colorful vegetarian dish and smoked salmon, which they said were very good! Overall, this was a positive experience with good service and good food.
This was our first time here. We were not disappointed or surprised - a good solid tourist trap restaurant is what you will get. The server was efficient (maybe too efficient) and the food was average. One person is our party of 3 had Sushi and commented that he would not order Sushi there again but would just go to Yoko’s.
Let's start with something easy. You go to the parking garage and it cost $5 per hour but your supposed to get 2 hrs for free when the restaurant validates the ticket. They said they did but it cost me because the ticket was not validated. We ordered an appetizer of Sushi and soup. They were both really good. Dinner was a complete flop and the sad part was it was our Christmas dinner. Me and my wife shared a meal. It came out cold, the sauce had filmed over and the fish and scallops we're cold. My son's medium filet mignon was beyond well done. It took forever for them to give us a replacement. It took so long my wife and myself were done and it came out medium well. you would think that you would think they would give you a discount or something but you would be wrong. Now to talk about service, our waiter was around sometimes but not really. I even tried to get with the manager but he was more worried about cleaning the floors instead of taking care of customers. I was sadly disappointed.
Ambiance and service was excellent and overall the food was very good. Some items were almost cold and the $38 prime rib was very tough. The outdoor dining area was beautiful as was the interior dining area. The desserts were excellent and almost the best part of the meals.
We made a reservation for Christmas Eve dinner and everything was perfect! Got seated right away, with a riverfront view. I got the sushi bowl that was on special - it was amazing! Drinks were okay, nothing special, but the food was all delicious. The PB torte dessert is a must have! Loved watching the sunset while we ate. It got a little chilly after dark, but they had outdoor heaters that they turned on. We walked the riverfront afterwards. Will definitely come again!
Saturday night Christmas holiday time ... also, the Lighted Boat PARADE along the Hillsboro River. Restaurant was fully booked! Many people, lots of activities... food is good, salads have fresh ingredients, burgers are mouth watering, servings generous, servers pay attention to details. I had booked a table outside it was perfect evening!
Fairly noisy - but all the more reason to be outside!
Would not recommend for brunch. Not quite right to advertise a buffet with a carving table and have nothing there to carve! Long lines for pasta since the only meat was dried out turkey. Even salads weren't refilled the whole time we were there. We hosted another couple for brunch there prior to the Tran-Siberian Orchestra concert at Amalie Arena and we were embarassed.
