Jackson's Bistro Bar & Sushi Ratings and Reviews
We all had a fine meal consisting of seafood dishes and the wine selection was decent. We sat outside to enjoy the scenery however the music emanating from the outside bar was loud and obnoxious. It was club style music played at a high volume and made conversation difficult, and this was at 6 o'clock!
Had a great pre-concert dinner - both food and service by Edwin. My friend went with sushi and I enjoyed the chicken Marsala. Very convenient to Amalie Arena. Sufficient parking and 2 hour complimentary so not paying for parking at restaurant and at the arena.
Great view on the water. Very enjoyable.
I have always left 5 Stars for the Brunch. However, the last 2 visits, the food taste was not at all up to par. We went late the last time, believing the lateness (around 1) was the factor for the not so great food taste. This time, we went at 11:30 and the food taste was still just "so-so". If they have new cooks, I'm hoping they will learn the recipes really soon!!!
We had a great spot to enjoy our brunch. I was a little disappointed in some of the food temperatures. A few items that should have been hot were not. Also, the shrimp was overcooked so it was hard to peel and chewy. Even with those two issues I would recommend Jackson's for Sunday Brunch because there were many more positives than negatives. There is something for everyone. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.
We went there for dinner before attending Bruno Mars concert. We had reservations. Drinks and meal took a little long to get, We were sat outside which had a beautiful view of the water. It got windy at the table and the curtains around us were blowing on the our table. We had to adjust/tie down the curtains ourselves. No one working that area seemed to notice the inconvenience to our table and the table behind us. Overall, it was a nice place to spend with friends before the show.
Third time was a charm, at least that's how many times it took the kitchen to get the order right. Not only that, but after it was right, the waiter acknowledging all along that it was the restaurant's fault, he became abrupt and inattentive. That said, the food was tasty and it has excellent views.
We were sat in the back by the kitchen / serving station so we had bus boys looking over our table almost throughout the meal which made it kind of annoying. I was also quite hot compared to the rest of the restaurant. For appetizer we got calamari. The calamari was very fishy tasting, so much so that none of us ate it. Since it was expensive we just had it boxed up to take home to pets. The food was okay. I asked them to remove pasta on my dish and add vegetables instead. There was so little of it that it really didn't seem like it was worth the price. I could have purchased the ingredients and made it at home for far less. Our waiter was great and very accommodating to our needs so we tipped him well before we left.
The meal and the service was good. What WASN’T good was the host staff getting us a cab back to the hotel. They told us 15 minutes max and after half hour we walked to hotel (5 blocks). The good news is you can get there. The bad news is you can’t get home. Grrrrrr
The place was absolutely packed, which is NOT a bad thing. We were able to score a table close to the water. We were celebrating our 24th Anniversary. I had no idea we would be forced to eat off the buffet, I picked this restaurant (at the request of a friend) out of two others.... because of the menu.
I would very much like to come back when we may order off the menu. We did stay for a couple minutes and enjoy a cocktail and watch a little water activity.
Came to Jackson’s for brunch with out-of-town visitors. The location is great, with expansive views over Tampa Bay. It gets another thumbs up for free and convenient parking. I wasn’t wowed by the food - it was mediocre. Surprisingly for a brunch, I couldn’t find any hash browns. They had several fish dishes but no rice or potatoes to go with them. Fish in a Thai curry sauce demands some rice to accompany it! Temperature of the supposed-to-be-hot food was tepid. Sushi was supermarket standard - which surprised me as it’s supposed to be their specialty. Overall, it was OK for a one off, but I will not return.
