Ordered seven items from the food menu for two of us. I tasted them all: Pig ears, rabi salad, cauliflower, potatoes, bacon chop, chicken and almond cake. The only dishes that were tasty were the ears, potatoes and cake. Bill with tip was $200. My guess is that this restaurant is only still in business because it is located in a hotel. Disappointed and confused by the reviews that I read prior to my dining experience. Also, the grapefruit drink was a ginger cocktail so over whelmed by the ginger that it drowned out any other flavors in the drink. Pass on that one....unless you just want to drink ginger and tequila.
Food was fabulous even though it was a little over our heads in the ingredient department. (We didn't know what a lot of the food was) The hamburger was great and my husband liked the fish. Noise level was good, but the wait staff whispers....maybe they are told to keep the noise down?
It was awesome! Will be back for sure!
Best meal to date! Small lunch potion which was perfect !
Ordered the dry aged steak which was mostly fat and minimal actual meat. The pastas and burger ordered at the table were good. The manager was apologetic and friendly but would avoid the steak.
My wife had the risotto and it was awesome. I had the halibut special, "halibut collar" sp? with kimchi!? It was awesome. We were staying in the hotel, dinner was so good we went back for brunch. Savory waffles! Great.
First time there. Loved the place! The Decor is beautiful! Food is wonderful!!
Had dinner reservations here prior to a show. Excellent service and outstanding food. Be sure to try the fried chicken entree and the cake with manchego cheese.
Great place to start the evening
We drove to Jackrabbit from Tacoma, WA and were not disappointed. The server was knowledgeable and friendly; the kitchen easily accommodated a food allergy and sent us a free Tombo Crudo while we waited for our entrees. Everything was exceptional and we'd recommend it fully.
Our food and wine were outstanding. Management was kind enough to find us a private room because it was very noisy. Loud music played all through the evening so it was very difficult to carry on a business group conversation even in a private room. With the central downtown location and the superb menu the need to fix the noise so groups can gather.
Great spot for a special occasion. It’s a little on the noisy side so it might not be the best location for a romantic date. Must try the boars head!
My wife & I had Easter Brunch @ Jackrabbit. Not particularly exciting menu and the food was
mediocre. I imagine if one is into creative ways to have a rabbit meal, this is definitely the place
for you. I could not recommend this establishment for brunch. Service was very good and their ambiance is very nice.
The food was overpriced and the waitress was snobby. I find it amusing when a waitress gives off a condescending attitude when we don’t select the highest priced wine, or high priced menu items, or don’t choose to order an appetizer or dessert. This was the exact experience we had at your restaurant. It’s unfortunate, because the food, although overpriced, was good. I would also encourage you to turn the music down a little.
Food takes too long to get - not a good value for what you pay for
Food was good, drinks were amazing and the staff were amazing.
Great food interesting presentation. Unique combinations. Great service. Really interesting layout and decor.
Our particular server was hilariously rude from the start, luckily everyone at the table found it comical, but definitely soured the experience. The steak is incredible though.
The exotic aspect of the menu just didn’t work for me. A grilled cheese sandwich would have been good but with duck egg and honey? I settled on the Niçoise salad but that was a little different too. The service was less attentive than I would imagine at a pricey restaurant; I might have liked more ice tea. So, just not for me personally, I wish great things for all future guests!
We had 2 confirmed reservations for 9 people each. The 5:30 reservation was seated, the 6:00 had been mistakenly cancelled. They were eventually accommodated, after some stressful moments. The Portland Dining Month entrees were good, but not outstanding, as were the regular menu options ordered. Table service was excellent, as well as the Drink menu. Ambience for such a large space was wonderful.
We brought our daughter there for special night. Also Portland dining monthly. I got the chicken which was a bit over cooked. My husband did love the burger! Drinks were very expensive. Also our server did not seem very knowledgeable in menu and did not check in with us very often. Had to wait a long time to get dessert. Over all it was mediocre and not sure I would go again.
Went for a business lunch, and was surprisingly delighted. The restaurant wasn't open until 11:30 but they allowed us to sit there for a half an hour and talk until they opened, such a good idea. We both had exceptional meals. I ordered the pork belly and friend oyster sandwich, all tender and delicious, and my friend had the grilled halibut, exceptionally cooked in a clay pot and very flavorful. Our waitress was super attentive and sweet, and we had a great time. Highly recommended. Very eclectic menu.
This is one of my favorite spots in Portland. Great drinks, good wine list, creative and tasty food, and a cool ambiance. If you have a few people who all want steak make sure to try the pin bone...amazing! Definitely give it a try, you don’t be disappointed.
Great service and a delicious meal for Portland Dining Month.
Great food, horrible service. It took at least 30 minutes before we were attended to, even though we had a reservation in advance.
Jackrabbit was a fanyastic choice to celebrate my birthday. We were a party of 7 and got a semi-private dining area which was perfect! The staff was super friendly and helpful, the food was amazing, the space is gorgeous! I would highly recommend jackrabbit to those looking for a fun dining experience.
Nice folks, attentive, slightly loud music, good food
Service was so slow and it took a verrrry long time to get drinks/ food.
Tried a lot of dishes but my favorites were the grilled cheese and the fried potatoes. Good music/ambiance.
Stellar service and food. Some of the best of both that I’ve ever experienced in my 20+ years in Portland. Bit on the expensive side. Loud environment, with blaring music, but playlist suited my tastes and the place had a fun and convivial vibe.
Our oysters were fresh, chilled, great presentation, delicious! My spinach stuffed trout also delicious. My partner's salad was wilted, boring, his pasta just strange. Our server was delightful, but everything took a long, long time. The resteraunt is dark, appeared dated to me with velvet banquette and dark brown formica tables. My seat faced a black wall with dark metal flowers. Everywhere I looked during our lengthy wait was dark. Rap music blared loudly through most of our meal. It was impossible to carry on a conversation, and if our order would have come more quickly we would have left much sooner. The menu is intriguing, certainly one worth visiting again, the price point makes it a special night out for us. Unless noise level, ambiance, and pace improves we won't be back.
An update from the original feedback:
manager contacted me and was interested in hearing details and making amends from our original experience. My interest is piqued.
Noise (music) was so loud it was irritating at the beginning and so unpleasant by the end we had to get out. Too loud to speak to one another during the meal and the family style seating with extremely wide tables made it worse. As loud as a nightclub.
Root vegetable soup was completely unseasoned and has floury taste.
Pasta was ok. 3 of 4 of us had pasta. Portion sizes were uneven between us.
Boring wine menu, but with Nice Oregon Pinot noirs served in completely wrong glassware... servers in small white wine glasses. Underwhelming wine list.
Overall, this was like a bar that was serving some food. Disappointed that a Cosentino restaurant had under seasoned food with uneven portions. The noise was the worst though.
So many other wonderful restaurants in town. No reason to go here ever again.
I have eaten at Jackrabbit a few times and the food has always been outstanding. Our most recent experience was cut short due to the noise level and our inability to carry on a conversation. Liza is a 10 as far as servers and customer service. She makes it worth returning.
The special occasion was dining month. A very good way to give this place a try. The cocktails are superb. The food was really quite good. The jackrabbits on the plates, silverware and all over add a fun touch.
Absolutely delicious combination of flavors for Portland Dining Month. We tried two other entrees off the menu and they were excellent. My cocktail was YUMMMMY!
The food was delicious. We participated in the Portland Dining Month. Pasta flavor was wonderful and the lemon dessert was very flavorful and not too sweet. Service was very good.
Would go back.
Food was good, if you like funky fusion eats. Service so-so; I felt rushed and like they were trying to get us out as quickly as possible.
We had wandered into the bar a few weeks prior to dining there and were so impressed with the bar and menu, we had to come back. Fast forward to Portland Dining Week. We had an appetizer in the bar, the Boteau, oysters, clams and Charcuterie. It was absolutely wonderful! Fresh, flavorful and not something you get everyday, they really made it special with the accompaniments. Dinner was excellent, we each had something different so we could try the entire tasting menu, no disappointment at all. Some excellent wines were offered, and we enjoyed it all.
The bar is a gem, there is a bar menu, but the staff (Nick especially is knowledgeable on whiskies). They will gladly make you something off the menu, which is varied and inventive. Or you can tell them what you like and they will make you something special from a little notebook in the pocket. :)
Perfect place for just a drink and small plate, or a full evening of drinks, dinner and fun. The fact that you can order a whole pigs head, makes this worth the visit, especially if you are feeling adventurous!
Very hard to get attention of waitress. She was busy talking to another waitress. They took my food and threw it away instead of boxing it up like they asked if I wanted.
Had a great evening in the rabbit hole.
We went for Portland Dining Month. It was really good service...the food was pretty good as it was a special menu. We will return during regular dining time. We enjoyed the drinks and service and it is a pretty nice place. They supposedly have the half head of rabbit, if you like that.
