We thought this would be a fun place to go, found it on open table and it has decent ratings and a different selection of dishes which intrigued us. When we arrived they tried to seat us in the back when there was plenty of space out by the bar. We spent $30 on 1 glass of wine and a bottle of water. Their food selection was okay but the prices are ridiculous. We don't mind paying a little more for quality service and food but the prices off the bat were a turn off.
When we told our waitress that we were only going to have a drink and not order food she gave us a very "you're a waste of my time" look and basically ignored us after that. We had to get other staff to help us and get us our check.
The food was expensive and not good I had the rigatoni bolognese, and my husband the pappardelle with pork oxtail. The portions were miniature and both lacked flavor. Mine cost $24 and his $20. Way too expensive for the quality and portion. We ordered the bread pudding for dessert and that too was flavorless.
The service was slow. The wine glasses had a strange smell.
Wonderful service! Drink was delicious. Enjoyed live music.
Their seasonal online menu was not up to date.
A Shared Supper of
"MR. MCGREGOR'S BUTTERMILK FRIED RABBIT"
lettuces, radishes & carrot harissa
There was still a rabbit but it was a Nashville Hot rabbit with a honey slaw. My partner and I were disappointed with the shift as we wanted to share a rabbit but did not want something that hot. The salad had shifted away from the salad with Strawberries.
The food we ended up ordering was tasty. We were just disappointed that the menu their website was out of date.
We had a large business group. The food was a little disappointing. Deviled eggs awesome, pigs ears not awesome, giant steak ($120) family style just ok, Pork Bacon Chop awful. Chef trying to be too over the top here. Simple Porterhouse and Double Cut Pork Chop is all you need. Service wasn't very friendly. Glass of wine spilled on two of our guest, nothing comped, not a drink, not a dessert, nothing. Dropped $600 on dinner for 7 and woke up the next day hungry. Atmosphere is awesome. I have had breakfast here in the past and that was great, but a little more work is needed here in friendliness, menu planning, and overall customer service.
Waited nearly 20 minutes from when first drinks were ordered until we received them. I've been there before and it was much better, but for the $, the service has to be good. Our server was great, but she was way understaffed and the bar was as well.
Waitress was unpleasant!!! Food was good, but please train your staff on how to interact with clients.
Their three course “power lunch” is a great option for downtown dining.
The food was not particularly original, but it was well prepared.
The food was excellent; the dining room has an energetic volume but not deafening; the service was fine but not ideal for the price point and overall experience. Notably, all of our plates were taken after dinner without any pause or opportunity to have the remaining food boxed up to take home - this was very disappointing. The excellent bread pudding for dessert almost made up for the overly aggressive clearing but not quite ...
Amazing cocktails, great food, and a lovely brunch. My only quibble was that the tables are so close together that a man sitting next to my female friend and I wouldn't really leave us alone and the waitstaff didn't really intervene. But on the whole, a great experience. I'd go there for brunch again.
Try the ham flight, it was crazy good. The only thing I wouldn't recommend is the Madeira on the dessert menu.
Unpleasant dining experience! Worst service! Not recommended!!!
Unique food selections with very narrow focus on Oysters and Meats (Nice selection). Server was a little pushy on the menu items (boosting sale vs. service) and our seat was a hi-top table in the bar area vs. sit down table.
Thanks for the review! We'd always prefer to create value in our service and will use your comments as a learning tool...much appreciated! Next time you come back request a table, or better yet, one of our comfy booths and we look forward to seeing you again!
Wonderful dining experience. Servers were very nice and took excellent care of us. Food was amazing! A great night out to celebrate our daughter's birthday.
Thanks Rae Lynn! So glad you had a great time and happy birthday to your daughter!
The food and ambience were great, but the service had a lot to be desired. We arrived early and checked in, but the hostess forgot about us so when we checked in after our reservation time, she had forgotten us; and we were only standing 15 feet away from her. Our waiter was MIA for about 10-15 minutes after we sat down, took forever to take our orders, never circled back to check in, and was not be seen when we were looking for a bill. We could see our waiter in the distance, but much more interested in chit chatting with his co-workers than with the customers. With that said, we did engage with on of the other waiters, who did seem very attentive. This restaurant has great food and a great setting, but the managers have forgotten the human element and it will never be a GREAT restaurant until that is addressed.
Hi Michael. While it's a tough pill to swallow to read this, it's one of the tools our restaurant and service staff will use to improve. Our management team will take this thoughtful note to heart and will stay engaged at meeting the level of expectation that our food and ambience deserves. Please reach out to us via phone or direct email and we'd love to have you back in to try our new fall menu that debuts tonight! Let us know and thanks again!
Rough service. Slow kitchen.
Great place great atmosphere, the food was very well prepared and the service was excellent.
Thanks for the comments Eric! Sounds like we hit on all points during your visit, and yes, the atmosphere and ambience here is stunning! Look forward to serving you again some time soon!
Friday night reservation was honored but the noise level from the bar area was terribly loud. The service took almost two hours for salad and main course and we left without dessert due to time constraints for an event.
Tables very close together so we could hear every word of the conversation the table mates were having next to us, even with the noise coming from the bar.
We expect more ambience for a meal as expensive as this, will not return or recommend.
Hi Susan. First of all, thank you for the comments and honesty. While it's hard to control the noise in such a large room, we can certainly do better to control your experience in terms of timing. Would love to have you back, so please give us a call so we can accommodate a day and time that will hopefully be less energetic and loud in the dining room and bar. Thanks again!
I great place to eat, innovative food selection, great cocktails, must have appetizers are deviled eggs, 3 pigs and pigs ears. must have dinners are bacon pork chop, charcoal chicken and the jackrabbit burger.
Hi Joe! Thanks for the review and sounds like you made a pretty good dent in the menu! Next time you come back try the Tombo Crudo, Around the World in 8 Hams, and any of our house made pasta dishes. Also, ask your server about the Hot Mess - it's an off menu item full of delicious things!
Service was a bit slow for the amount of noise.
Eh. Was ok. Unfriendly service.
Michael was our server and she was amazing! Very attentive without being obnoxious. Funny and knowledgeable! We will all be back!
The staff was a little arrogant. I guess that would have been OK if the food was amazing, but it was just only good. I probably won’t go back anytime soon.
Hi Mark. We're sad you had a subpar experience, but thank you for the note and honesty. Please give us a call and would love to arrange for a return visit to give us a chance at changing your perspective. Thanks again!
Great service, had clams, oysters & salad. All very good very fresh. Open concept restaurant so was a little noisy due to large group seated next to us.
We had a great time, food was amazing and the service outstanding, we will go back again
Thank you for joining us! We look forward to your return! Fall menu kicks off tonight so you'll be able to sample some new dishes on your next visit.
A unique and fabulous cuisine paired with excellent service, and a casual yet trendy ambiance. Amazing raw bar. Staff was very knowledgeable regarding all menu items from food to the unique wines and beers. I highly recommend the deviled egg appetizer. I traveled with a group and was able to sample several menu items- each one excellent and unique. I highly recommend this place for any occasion- date night, everyday dining, group events, special occasions, etc.
Excellent! Craft cocktails, service is excellent, and their menu has some nice pairings between the drinks small plates and entrees!
Service and waitstaff are wonderful!
The place is beautiful and the food was great. The service was pretty bad. It took 30 minutes to get coffee and mimosas (as we watched numerous people who came in after us get the same thing). We had to find another server to see what the hold up was because our server wouldn’t come to our table. We were there on vacation and most likely won’t go back.
Jackrabbit is awesome and I highly recommend! We will definitely return next time we are in Portland!
Wow! absolutely delicious...inventive, thoughtful, creative! Lots of adjectives, lots of good food. Could almost make me wish I lived in Portland. Also server staff in bar and restaurant outstanding.
GREAT food and drinks, attentive service and an eclectic menu. Really loved the food and service. Only downside, an unnecessarily LOUD place with a frankly bizarre choice of blaring hip hop and guitar rock being played through our dinner. Impossible to have a conversation without shouting the night we went there. Detracted from an otherwise awesome experience.
We booked this place for brunch on a wh while we were staying downtown. The food was very good. I think they were understaffed. Our server did the best he could but we had to ask to order, for more coffee several times and the check after waiting a while. If there were a couple more servers it would have been perfect. Food was delicious. A little spendy but the quality was there.
Service was over the top outstanding. We were celebrating our 38th wedding anniversary and they treated us like royalty!
One of our favorite restaurants. Definitely try the tonno crudo or beef tartare. The pork ragu and water buffalo are excellent also. The service is excellent and the ambiance is very nice. Try to get seated in the back room or one of the side booths to minimize the noise.
Amazing food and cocktails
Jack rabbit was great! Smoked salmon avocado bread was amazing! Oysters were very fresh and loved all the sauces! The steak frites were bomb as well!
I enjoyed the food very much, although the serving of Foie Gras seemed very stingy for $20.00. Overall the prices at extremely high for what you get, as other restaurants of this quality are notably less such as Bistro Agnes, Little Bird, and Headwaters at the Heathman . The noise level was extremely high, although the room was lovely. The waiter was very busy and we could have gotten more attention. I would come back, but the price is daunting for a regular diner.
Expensive!! But the food was impeccable! Absolutely delicious, but don't expect to be full after dropping $35 on an entree, you'll most likely hit up another restaurant afterwards
