The food was excellent, but the noise level, exaggerbated by loud, pounding music, was oppressive.
We absolutely love Jackrabbit. Just do yourself a favor and go. Amazing top to bottom.
The red flannel hash was very good, but per the menu, it was supposed to come with poached eggs. I received no eggs. I didn't ask them to correct the mistake because I didn't really care about eating them (or waiting another ten minutes), but $19 for a plate of hash is pricy anyway, so this mistake should not have happened in the first place. That neither the cook nor the waiter caught it... I would definitely go back, but only if I was in that are. I don't think I'd go out of my way to go.
Great food, excellent service in a nice, somewhat noisy, dining space. We’ll be back!
Really enjoyed the food and the service was spot-on with recommendations and did a great job of answering our questions. Perfect balance of friendliness and professionalism.
Food was excellent! Our server was perfect! Wish there were more booths. Don't like sitting 2x2 next to two others. That was my only biff. Everything else met our expectation. First timers. Will be back!
The restaurant is beautiful and in a great if you’re downtown. We went during Portland Dining month, so I’m not sure if we got the best representation of their food, however, I do think we got an honest representation of service. Very slow to get introduction to server, very slow to get cocktails (albeit good cocktails!), given incorrect menus, then the server (while competent) was incredibly curt and not particularly open to answering questions. The food was good, not great. Go for the ambience, restaurant design and cocktails!
The food was fine but not great, and did not feel like a good value. Service was very spotty. Unless it's just for a quick drink or appetizer I won't be back.
The food was very pleasant for a limited Portland Dining experience. The restrooms were not attended to by the restaurant staff, therefore showing extreme neglect. I would increase the amount of service to these areas. Overall, our server was very attentive and the food was elevated.
Loved everything about our experience! First time visiting and won’t be our last! Deviled Eggs to start were delicious. I enjoyed the Portland Dining month menu of Spring pea soup, pasta with shaved asparagus and a bay leaf panna cotta for dessert. Our table also enjoyed the burger and the bacon chop! Craft cocktails were excellent as well! Highly recommend. Our server, Ken, was outstanding!
Our Server Jaycee was the best! Kind and attentive the entire night, gave a great suggestions for tequila. Food was exquisite, chicken done right! Great ambiance for friends to get together.
This was a great place to celebrate a birthday and Portland Dining Month. There were eight of us and everyone enjoyed their meal. The service was great and we were in a private room.
Horrible service, horrible food. I could have made pasta from a box that was better. Every entree was done poorly and over priced based on what we received. We ordered off the Portland Dining Month menu and left before the included dessert it was so bad. Worst dining experience ever.
The server was extra attentive and very polite. Drink options were also great, along with speedy service.
Would certainly come back for another date night!
We had a sweet little table by the window. Great menu, delicious cocktails, and very attentive service even when it got busy. Can't wait to go back!
We had to ask for the Portland dining month menu. every other restaurant we have visited this month proudly displayed their specials. The waitress had no patience with questions.
The pasta dish was so bland that we asked for salt and pepper just to give it some flavor and the dessert was also bland. i could not taste any of the flavors in the delicious sounding description.
We did enjoy the spring pea shoot soup but will not be back.
Food was incredibly disappointing.
Loved this restaurant, will definitely be back soon.
If you're going for the atmosphere, I'd recommend. I'll try again for HH or time at the bar, but likely won't do a full meal there again. I went with 3 friends who all ordered different dishes, and we all agreed it was just so-so, but that the space was fun and cool.
Our Sunday brunch was a tough one, so many things done right but the overall experience left us disappointed. Must have been under-staffed. We waited over 10 minutes to be greeted at our table and to order coffee & cocktails. Had to ask to be served because our waitress was held at a table for over 10 minutes chatting. Cocktails took another 10+ minutes but damn they were so GOOD! Then our food came another 30 minutes later and was barely warm. Despite being hungry and impatient, you CANNOT eat Eggs Benedict or Polenta warm. It was re-made and it came out hot and DELICIOUS! Really exceptionally good Hollandaise. We ended up eating rushed to make our show at Keller. Service was sweet but inadequate. Nothing was comped, we got an apology, and we still tipped 18% on $100 bill, it's hard when a restaurant is under-staffed.
Our party of 6 enjoyed our dinner at Jackrabbit. The food and drinks were great and reasonably priced. The service was good and everyone was so attentive and friendly. The only issue was that our server didn't let us know that a 20% gratuity for a party of six was already added to the bill. We added another 15% tip on top of the 20%. At other restaurants, the server does mention the added gratuity so that the customers are aware that it's on the bill. We only figured this out when we got home and tried to figure out why the bill was more than we expected.
The service was very good. They accommodated a request to push our reservation back, and then made sure that we didn't need extra seating for our friends with whom we were getting drink in the bar. The server was efficient and just friendly enough. The atmosphere was hip, without being too Portland pretentious. The corner location and all of the windows were definitely great for light and people watching. However, the food didn't live up to the hype. I will visit again because I believe that sometimes the nicer restaurants have difficulty providing their best food within the constraints of the Portland Dining Month budget. This food (the lamb burger and the chicken) was just average. The truly bad things were the salad and the cauliflower. The salad was a butter lettuce Caesar. The greens were beautiful and the cheese used for garnish was really good, but the dressing was so watered down that it was almost non-existent. This could have been from greens that we rinsed and then not allowed to drain before dressing. The salad was a disappointment. The cauliflower was supposed to be roasted in duck fat, but not only was the duck fat flavor nearly non-existent, the cauliflower was not primarily roasted - it was steamed, like your Mom makes it at home, and then it was quickly "roasted" on a grill. It was overcooked and mushy, and not very good. But, as I said, I'll try it again and see if it's better when it is not PDM.
Portland Dining Month.
Lovely warm ambience with great food!
This was a perfect destination for our out of town visitors to get a feel for Portland and our love for food. Everyone enjoyed their meals and the staff took excellent care of us. Thanks for hosting!!
Enjoyed our evening especially liked the pasta special
I’ve walked past this place a dozen times and thought we could give it a try after work one weekday. Wasn’t very busy so the reservation wasn’t needed. Service was fair-average... lots of room for improvement. Food was good but nothing special and very overpriced. Dessert was good but coffee was lukewarm and the bar didn’t have ingredients to make a Spanish Coffee!?! We won’t be back. I guess it relies on hotel guests who don’t know where else to go. Decor is nice, good lighting etc.
Food was great. Service exceptionally slow although polite
We visited Jackrabbit on a busy weekend evening. We started at the bar prior to our reservation. One side of the bar faces the hotel lobby, and it was busy and less cozy. The bartenders on that side seemed pretty busy and less engaging. We moved to the other side of the bar (facing dining area), which felt cozier and more personal. The bartender there was friendly and professional. For dinner, we were seated further back in the restaurant on the tables that abut a bench. It felt comfortable and quieter, as the place does have an energetic volume. Our server was genuinely warm, attentive and timely. He was knowledgeable of gluten-free options and helped recommend a wine to match our tastes. We ordered the burger and winter squash entree that comes with pomegranates and yogurt. The burger arrived cooked to order (mid-rare) with the bun on the side. The winter squash was a generous portion, was well-seasoned and an excellent vegetarian option. We thoroughly enjoyed both dishes, and based on this experience would recommend this restaurant for a date night or special occasion.
My server weren’t that great. She interrupted our conversations many times. She didn’t put our food down on the table with a careful manner. The food is great.
Some of the smallest oysters I've ever seen, and the pate was pretty tasteless. However, the meats in the entrees were delicious!
Food was on point and the service was spectacular! My two young kiddos tried everything, but the take away for them was the kids menu grilled cheese- the “best they ever had!” Definitely a kiddo friendly location. For the adults, the crudo, pigs head, salads and 8 hams around the world started the lovely meal. The cocktails were also on point. What a gem that all should try!
Food was good, but at almost 3 hours total for dinner, by the end we rushed through dessert and probably didn’t appreciate it as much as we could have.
Slow service, burger over cooked, steak potatoes and drinks were good though.
Average salad, less than average chicken dish and tasteless chocolate cake. Way over priced for this food. We won't go back.
The parking is impossible and expensive. So expensive cocktails on top of that leave a bad taste in your mouth even if the food is extraordinary. The food is good but not amazing.
Maybe my first every written negative review with 40k plus Open Table points. Disappointed! 1.5 hours to receive meals 3 great meals one very overdone chops, it happens. Then it went bad, entirely the servers responsibility. Handled it horribly. Said I was done, and we would just move on. 15 minutes later brought another plate out that was not requested the rest of the party was done and all dishes cleared. Made it very uncomfortable. The server never once apologized. In fact after everything just dropped the dessert menu by as if nothing ever happened. Once again, it happens too bad the server allowed it become such a bad experience that here I am writing a review. Checking reviews, it seems to be a theme 1 or 5
Food was awesome! I had the chicken and my husband had a pasta dish and (a fancy) grilled cheese. Plates at other tables also looked wonderful. Lots of options for different pallets .
The food was amazing. The waitstaff seemed to be a bit overwhelmed, but were gracious,
Knowledgeable, and engaging.
The space is rustic with a bit of funkiness.
