Jack Stack Barbecue - Freight House
Jack Stack Barbecue originated in Kansas City in 1957, by Russ Fiorella in a traditional storefront barbecue, with a modest selection of 5 or 6 items. Jack Fiorella, the eldest son, worked with his father until 1974 when he decided to branch off and start Fiorella's Jack Stack of Martin City.
To stand out in the competitive KC barbecue scene of the mid 1970's, Jack and Delores, began cooking with Gourmet Hickory Wood and created the most extensive barbecue menu in the country. The menu included Certified Angus Beef steaks, tender chicken, award-winning lamb ribs, and mouth-watering sides like Hickory Pit Beans and Cheesy Corn Bake.
Family from Texas & Florida meeting up
Exceptional front door staff and table service. The Crown Prime Ribs are amazing! A hit with my clients traveling from NC.
Food was very good, Service was excellent. Always a favorite while in KC
Great food and atmosphere! Waitress forgot to bring out one item we ordered, but we had plenty of food regardless. Excellent dining experience.
I am so glad I read the reviews about this place. The barbecue is the best that my companion and I ever had. The ribs are “stick to the bone” style, with delicious barbecue sauce. Two types of barbecue sauce are served with each meal, one slightly smokier and spicier than the other. There are also non-red meat options, such as a delicious barbecue chicken and smoked turkey. Service was attentive and thorough, and the staff honored our reservations even though the restaurant was very crowded. We were sad that we don’t live in the area and would not be able to return soon, but were delighted to see that they ship countrywide.
The place for Kansas City BBQ. Amazing staff that almost reads your mind and doesn’t a great job. The food is a little pricy but is fairly priced for the amazing spread that appears.
2nd time here. Great place for groups. Easy parking. Service was meh...food was good but there are others i would choose over next time.
Mets road trip
Best brisket we have had. The restaurant is rustic and fun.
I go to jack stack freight House often because the food is consistently outstanding. The service is very good and this is the second time that we had CARIANN as our server. She is a fabulous server. I will ask for the next time I go back.
CARIANN gets our order right, servers the food hot, and handles special requests quickly. She is a keeper.
Took some colleagues who had never been before. Service was very good and food was mostly very good. The fried mushroom appetizer wasn’t very goo
Dined with out of town guests. Always reliable, always good. Never disappoints. Best bbq in KC hands down.
This place was recommended by Mark Gubicza, a former Royals pitcher and now Angels baseball broadcaster and this place was just too amazing and did not disappoint. It was my first time and the host recommended a great plate. Every bite was just rediculously amazing. I wanna to back already. Plus the staff was great which made the experience more enjoyable.
Great food and a great environment! The burnt ends were really good...we’ll definitely be back.
Very good place to eat. The food was great and so was the atmosphere. Waitstaff is very friendly and knowledgeable. A little on the pricey side so don't expect to eat cheap. But overall a great place to dine.
Food was awesome! Pulled Pork sandwich was very good and tender. Burnt End sandwich had great flavor and was very good. Where we sat close to the front door was a little warm.
The food was outstanding!! And our server was very good!! The wings are the bomb!!
This is my second going to this particular location. The food has been delicious on both occasions. Service has been great for a restaurant as big as this place. Highly recommended.
Wonderful meal as always. The Crown Prime Beef ribs are one of a kind. Definitely a must when checking out Kansas City barbecue.
One complaint: the service was great except for one thing. The server took my coworker's baked beans away without asking. He intended to bring them back to the hotel with the rest of his meat. He was bummed to have lost those.
Very disappointed in the sandwich I ordered. Beef and ham combo. There was a bone in the middle of the sandwich and not a whole lot of meat.
Over priced, there are bbq places that taste the same or better and not so outrageously priced. Waiter was great and had a good knowledge of the menu.
The food and service was great. After I ordered my food and having some eating restrictions they were able Ofer me steamed broccoli instead of potatoes or beans!!! Thanks for great service and fantastic food for entire family
Experience from start to finish was great. Food was delicious, as we entertained a client -- everything went very well!
Love the location , as always the food did not disappoint. Our waiter was prompt , was able to add suggestions that were amazing and he just had a good overall knowledge of food, Kansas City etc... he was just an all around awesome waiter that made the experience top notch ... add a couple trains going by,a slight breeze on the patio and it it made for a perfect Jack Stack experience
My Dad, brother-in-law, nephew, and myself were on a baseball road trip through the Midwest and we made a commitment to eat as much BBQ as possible. Jack Stack was our 2nd stop and was our favorite BBQ stop in all of KC. The only question we had when we left was, “When can we get back?”
Always outstanding!! Friendly people!! Delicious food!!
Great place to take your Friends from out of town . Drinks with the apps. Was great as well. No room for dessert
We were seated 40 min after our reservation time. The food was very slow coming out, the manager came by to apologize. The cocktails were excellent. The ribs were not flavorful and almost tough. Jack Stack does have a great variety of sides. Left disappointed.
My sons white coat ceremony for KCU medical university.
Had to wait a bit longer than would have liked for a later (8:30) reservation and some food options were unavailable. Admittedly we were in town for a convention with too many hungry people!
Best BBQ in KC. I had friends visiting from Oklahoma City and they were delighted.
Lived up to reputation. One minor food error quickly fixed
Come out to Jack Stack every time I’m in KC. Always lives up & exceeds my expectations
Jack Stack is my favorite KC BBQ and I wanted to treat my out of town colleagues to a great meal. Our server SAM did an excellent job and everyone loved their food.
Good food but just too loud to hear the server.
While the quality of the meat was excellent, the BBQ sauce was less than adequate, the burnt ends were dry and difficult to chew. While greeted promptly by our waiter, it was nearly half an hour before we ordered.
Amazing food! Our first time having Kansas City BBQ and this did not disappoint. The food was delicious- flavorful, perfectly cooked and very generous portions. We had the BEST server (John Adams) who was knowledgeable and just super enthusiastic about the menu. We made helpful recommendations, was attentive and personable and transformed the evening from dining out to an experience. So glad we went there and will definitely be back!
Hands down, the best barbecue in KC. The difficult choice is what to order from the menu. It is all good.
Always the very best. Consistently good in every way possible!
