Beautiful location! I loved the scenery and ambiance of Jack O’Neill’s. We stopped by here for a quick bite to eat when heading up north; and was amazed! Good quality food that was fresh and tasted amazing.
The restaurant has the best views of Santa Cruz. Dinner was a bit too salty but it was good. I had the bouillabaisse and it was good but too salty. I usually have bouillabaisse at Fish House in Monterey and it's excellent.
Great place, great food, outstanding view of Monterey Bay. Valet service from hotel even delivered car to the restaurant when we finished.
We are locals and invited guests for Sunday brunch @ 1 pm- a busy time but end of brunch window. The food was underwhelming especially the seafood salad our guest ordered for $25. The presentation was all spinach in a bowl with 2 small crab claws, a small piece of tuna & tomatoes. It was embarrassing. Our drinks took a long time and I ordered beer so it wouldn’t have to be mixed. It was a very disappointing meal except for the valet parking service.
My brunch item was outstanding, eggs rancheros. My lunch date loved his homemade whip cream. The view was fantastic.
Amazing view, great food. Loved the experience
Young poorly trained but enthusiastic waitstaff. Food served Luke-warm. Fish cooked well though oversauced.
Sausage platter way too overcooked - xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Wife specifically ordered Filet Mignon with no mushrooms, they piled mushrooms sky high. This resulted in my wife getting sick. She tried to be a good sport and eat it but wasn’t happening. 40 dollar piece of meat wasted.
The fish was the saltest thing I have every eaten.
Great views. Good food. Nothing really exceptional.
Beautiful views...Nice food and acceptable service. The views alone are worth a visit.
Our server was great. My salad greed were not the fresh and the chicken was only so so.
Very nice room and amazing location but the food was not good. We were so disappointed. Won't be going back.
We love the quick drive ‘over the hill’ from downtown San Jose for some beach time, amazing views and a great breakfast or lunch. Valet and easy street parking. Very good food and service is good.
We went there for my wife’s birthday they were aware it was my wife’s birthday . We split the special T Bone steak and shrimp . The shrimp were not cooked and spoiled we showed the waiter he agreed and Mgr came back with a plate of cooked shrimp that we declined because we couldn’t get the bad taste of the shrimp . This stuff happens. But it is the response of the Manager. No offer for a dessert for free no adjustment to the bill A special birthday dinner sucked !
Only comment, food portions for the pasta were huge . . . perhaps a bit more appealing if not so much food on the plate. Love the restaurant, service was awesome and the food terrific.
We like O'Neill's and we'll probably go back again. But this last experience was less than stellar. It was a Sunday and the place did not appear to be busy. Our pre dinner drinks took way too long... They came after the first course. The server could have been a little more attentive. The main course was flavorful and there was ample food. But it came to the table barely warm, at best. If we had had attentive service and hot food, I'd be giving it maximum stars.
A very pleasant experience. The food was yummy and the ocean view was lovely.
The restaurant interior is very stylish!
Good food, great view and atmosphere and wonderful servers
It was a delicious Christmas Eve dinner. The prix fix menu had varied options for each course. The chef was on their game....my halibut was prepared beautifully.
Peaceful and enjoyable setting with a beautiful view. The food was very good and the service was attentive but not intrusive. We will return with some of our friends.
We had our office Holiday lunch in the restaurant and had a great meal.
Unbeatable view! Romantic! Beautiful restaurant and lounge! Quiet! Delicious food! Excellent service! Looking forward to returning soon!
Our cocktail, wine and entree were excellent, the mushroom asparagus salad was mediocre. Service was exceptional. Great ambiance.
We’re repeat offenders. Awesome views of the ocean, cliffs and pier. Food, service, wine selections are all gourmet class. Good price to value.
My husband and I were celebrating are 24th Anniversary.
Did not meet expectations of it's rating (4.4) - maybe an off day?
Hanger steaks tender, but arrived lukewarm, $26
Steak knives brought when were almost done eating.
When waitstaff brought them, "I guess you don't need these."
Why were the steak knives not with the steaks?
Rice under cooked on Poke Bowl, only about 3-4 oz of fish, $24
Early Saturday night, not very busy-why didn't food come out hot?
$14 cocktail, not worth it.
Meal felt rushed, we were in & out in 40 minutes.
Great food and service can’t wait to go back
Beautiful restaurant. Food is pretty good. Price is quite high. Good service.
Breakfast was great! Service was great! View was great!
Service was awesome. We got attended quickly and very respectful. Our expectations were met.
This is the second time we have eaten here, this time for breakfast. The menu has a nice variety, the service was excellent and the view is to die for. There were three of us. Two had scrambles and one had eggs Benedict. Nice portions with fresh ingredients, however the Benedict arrived cold and the eggs were not medium as requested. The server immediately took it away and after a few minutes returned with a fresh plate, hot and eggs cooked perfectly. This is a beautiful place to enjoy a meal with an outstanding view and good food which is not easy to find in Santa Cuz.
We were staying at the hotel so we had dinner and brunch at Jack O’Neill. I’m Celiac and they were very careful to make sure I didn’t ingest gluten and were willing to prepare items GF for me. I was very impressed with the attention to detail and service. With such a gorgeous view and great food, we had a happy and memorable anniversary.
much too bright inside for dinner. Management said the lights do not have a dimmer. Unfortunate because it is soo bright inside at night you cant see past the reflection of the lights in the windows to see the view. Seat were very uncomfortable as the arm rests are too low and and cant relax in the seats.
The entire reason we went to O'Neils during restaurant week was to try different menu items, which we chose in advance. Our decision to go there, out of all the restaurants we could have gone to, was based on the menu that was posted on line. We had an early reservation (6pm) so we could catch the sunset, and thank goodness we did because that was the best part of the experience. Even though restaurant week was only 3/4 over (there were 3 more days featuring that menu) and it was early in the evening, they were out one of the three pre fix meal choices, the duck, leaving only the seafood pasta option and the vegetarian option. Not wanting the veg option we both ordered the seafood pasta option and it was very disappointing. There were 2 large prawns, slightly under cooked, and a piece of salmon over a huge pile of pasta with some cherry tomatoes and peas. Not what I'd call fine dining, more what I would expect at a touristy mid priced wharf restaurant. In hindsight I should have just ordered off the menu, but that defeats the purpose of restaurant week.
We had Casey as a server and my brother thought he was dower. But then he brought my daughter birthday cake with a huge smile on his face! Thank you for fitting us in
The food was not good. The hamburger was very weird, it had mashed potatoes on it. The view is great, but we wouldn’t go back.
We ordered the seafood trio. The fish was cold. The shrimp were overcooked and rubbery. The zucchini was mush. The purée on which it was all served was horrendous. Service good, though a little too over the top. Dessert was very good: chocolate lava cake filled with caramel. As good as the dessert was, we won’t be back (used to be a good place).
