The executive chef prepares southern specialties and adds a bit of French influence to create local favorites like shrimp & grits, lamb chops and Jack's burger. Jack Fry's provides a friendly atmosphere and live jazz , ensuring the entire group will find something to enjoy.

Frenched and grilled, served with provolone-potato gratin, haricots verts, and glace de viande
Shrimp & Grits
Sautéed shrimp in red eye gravy with Broadbent country ham, cremini mushrooms, and tomatoes. Served over Weisenberger grits and finished with parmesan cheese
Great cocktails, excellent food. Fun waitstaff willing to give recommendations about the area. Great first night dinner!
A classic place that always seems to get it right!
Fantastic restaurant. Very in-demand, so service can feel a little rushed. But food quality is top-notch, great wine and cocktail menu. Fun, energetic, retro ambience. A great evening.
We visited from Michigan. Three generations! Mother, daughter, grandson. Booked a reservation as a special night out. Did not disappoint. Thank you for amazing food, service and experience!
Food was delicious, everyone at the table was really happy with their selections and would love to go back. Definitely a special occasion meal.
So happy to be back at one of our favorite restaurants. Everything was wonderful!
The food is outstanding. This is my favorite restaurant.
Jack Fry’s is our favorite dinner restaurant in Louisville. We have been many times and have always had a great experience. The staff is friendly and attentive without being overly familiar and cloying. The food is great (the lamb chops are my personal favorite, although the steaks are also great). We make it a point to go here every time we visit Louisville.
Loved everything! Would like to suggest a few more selections of wines by the glass.
My wife and I were delighted to be seated in the front barroom for dinner. Plus, we were seated in the NW corner booth. Being a Tuesday night, there was no live music. Recorded music was appropriately low. We arrived at 5:45 pm. Sound overall was low, at first, but unfortunately progressed to moderate-to-high as the room filled in and a group of six were seated next to us in the open area.
Bourbon drinks were excellent, especially the Malachi Manhattan. Catch of the Day and Pork Chop were delicious and generous, allowing for take-homes. Service was impeccable, especially by the gentleman who kept the water glasses filled and used dishes cleared...fast, efficient and very attentive! Though complimentary desserts for birthdays are no longer offered, our ordered ice cream was served by our waiter with a lit candle!A generous tip was hopefully shared with all.
Among the best dinner experiences we've had in Louisville. Will try a jazz night next time!
It is a very nice place to eat. I loved the old feel.
Jack Fry’s is our go to place in Louisville. Amazing food, service and the team is super nice and welcoming. Not a bad meal to be had there. I highly recommend Jack Fry’s!
Excellent food and service. Probably needs something other than hard surface walls and ceiling to moderate the noise.
We come here every year for our anniversary and this time I’m disappointed. The service is an easy 5/5 stars but the filet has gotten worse and the price has gone up. I ordered my filet rare, the cook was fine but the flavor wasn’t there and the potatoes and asparagus were bland and boring. Maybe it was just an off night idk
From start to finish everything was amazing!!
Cobb salad had traditional ingredients compiled into a ring mold with sliced grilled chicken on the side. Lovely presentation and salad very tasty but portion was more the size of an appetizer salad than an entree.
Chicken salad very good but you could break a tooth on the accompanying toasted cranberry bread. Ask them not to toast the bread to make it edible. Side of french fries was sublime.
We were very happy to be here. It felt like old-time Louisville and was full of mostly locals -- business groups, couples, groups of friends. The food was very good, the atmosphere energentic, and the vibe fun. We were very happy this was one of our choices on our short trip to Louisville.
Excellent food and service. The salmon was a favorite, plus the creme caramel and ice cream for dessert. We were just behind the entry stand and the noise level is fairly high (not super romantic). Very good food.
Took out of town guests here for dinner last night. Awesome service and food. We each had different entrées. All excellent. Wait staff very attentive and helpful Loved the Creme Caramel for dessert!
Wonderful as always. Our favorite place to eat in Louisville
It was great to get back to Jack Fry's after the last several months.
Alex, our waiter, was fabulous.
Food was exactly how I remembered it.
Went there for our wedding anniversary and the food/drinks did not disappoint. The service was fast even though it was a busy night. Would definitely recommend!
Everything was fabulous as it has Always been ‼️
Fabulous evening with friends at the best restaurant in town! Delicious food, great service and perfect ambiance!
We were set at a tiny table for 2. It was much to small there was not room as my fork and knife kept falling off the table. My burger was well and I had asked for medium rare On line menu has the filet for 58 inside the restaurant menu has 69. Why the difference
The food was great. The portions for entree were great, but portions for starters versus price was unreasonable. Save your money. It also lacks a dessert selection.
We loved the food and the service. We celebrated our anniversary. Thank you!
Thee Louisville dining experience.
Very historic casual dining experience. Love the piano bar! The heirloom tomato watermelon and peaches salad was out of this world!
Wonderful ambience and our server was excellent, very attentive, and gave great food recommendations. The food was top notch!
Great experience ... service was great .. really enjoyed the restaurant vibe
This was our third anniversary in a row celebrated at Jack Fry’s. It was louder than usual since we had a bachelor party beside us, but they couldn’t ruin the evening. A piano player provided a calming, enjoyable experience to offset the yelling beside us. Who doesn’t like the Charlie Brown theme song?
Our server was very nice, very pleasant and best of all, attentive without being intrusive. The water guy kept refreshing our glasses and brought tons of the wonderful bread served there.
The food is the piece d’ resistance, though! We had the Brie salad, as we do every year—such tender Bibb lettuce covered with almonds and warm Brie. Next, we had a cooked-to-perfection pork chop with luscious asparagus and mushrooms with a seasonably delicious accompanying side of heirloom tomatoes and peaches and watermelon. Everything was outstanding!
We weren’t going to have dessert, but the blackberry cobbler was too tempting. My husband and I shared. We agreed it was the best crust and filling we have ever had. Jack Fry’s will continue to be our go-to spot for our anniversary dinner because it is just such a special experience.
Still one of the best upscale Restaurants to visit in Louisville.
We had a lovely anniversary dinner at Jack Fry's. Service was excellent, salads were quite good, and the lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The Mac and cheese was incredible, and the grilled fruit side of the day was unexpected and delicious! Portions were generous, and we brought leftovers home. We really enjoyed the excellent pianist!!!
Great energy, food and service. The piano player could step up his selection to a more lively set.
Grits were dry. Sauce was not as good as as in years past.
Everything but the food was a good experience. Ordered the beef fillet and the hamburger. The fillet was ordered medium and came out rare/medium rare. Was sent back to be grilled longer. The fries with the burger were over fried. They snapped in half like a cracker. I’ve been to jack frys several times and never had a bad meal. However, this experience really missed the mark.
Lovely leisurely lunch to celebrate anniversary. Service a little slow but gracious. Cobbler was outstanding. Husband said salmon best he ever had.
