About Jack Astor's - Toronto (Front St.)
Our mission? Great people helping other great people totally have a blast while enjoying amazing food. Wow, that was a mouthful. But can you blame us? We’re a restaurant. One that specializes in delicious food and great times. Our goal is to make you laugh. And depending on your hot sauce tolerance, cry.
In all seriousness, we take real pride in our food. Try our Cluckin’ Fresh Chicken Fingers, made and seasoned with fresh, never frozen chicken tenders. This isn’t run-of-the-mill pub grub. Our Band of Chefs are influenced by a wide variety of tastes and have travelled across the globe to gain inspiration.
But outside of the kitchen, we find it hard to take ourselves seriously. We’re sports fanatics, music nuts and love a good joke. If you’re into at least one of those things, we should hang out.

Jack Astor's - Toronto (Front St.) Ratings and Reviews
We had a great meal. When paying the bill i gave a voucher which in turn the waitress showed me on an i pad what the amount would be but never gave me a hard copy. She said our table was closed out and could not produce a copy for us.
I paid with a business card and kinda needed a receipt
Darcy, new waiter did amazing! It was his first day and I believe we were his first clients. He was very pleasant, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the food/drinks. After working downtown for 10years and attending this location many times...I gotta say this was the first time it was a wonderful experience because of Darcy.
We had tried to book JA on Dundas Square but were unable to get a Saturday evening reservation. This one was further away on Front Street but the place was very busy when we arrived. Excellent burgers and a very varied choice on the rest of the menu if you don't have a preference for burgers. Service also very good. Would definitely eat here again when in Toronto.
I have to be honest with you in that, for me and several other colleagues , the music is simply too loud. I frequently went to the dartmouth crossing location in Nova Scotia but have stopped going over the noise level. I took some out of town business colleagues one evening as well and it was too loud that evening as well. They all commented on it and have chosen not to return again, going to Moxies instead in the same location. That has meant just with our group that gets together the night before two days of meetings 4 times year that a lost opportunity for 4x$600 spends. My inlaws will not go either anymore as well. I know you want to appeal to the younger generation but when everyone comments that Jack Astors is so loud and can we go somewhere else , I believe you need to rethink the music volume you you keep.
Went to the restaurant for take out, when I was about to receive my food the female bartender had a concern with the food, but the male bartender said who cares it's take out. When I got the food it was cold and I don't believe it was Jack asstors food as I ordered a burger and received a double patty burger that tasted like fast food. This experience should have been reported to upper management
The server was excellent and really on point about making sure I was okay and I was happy with everything even though it was just me and I was by myself. She steered me away from something on the menu that could have wound up leaving me dissatisfied when I asked a couple of questions and we settled on a much better alternative. For what it is Jack Astor’s is a tad bit expensive but it’s still good food. It’s noisy but that’s to be expected on a Friday night after 8. Will definitely be returning.
The food was great, the service was good too but unfortunately I did not realize until I got home that my child was charged the adult meal vs the child meal. Unfortunately I live uptown and was only down for the Raptors game otherwise I would have gone back to complain. It's a great hot spot that's for sure and if I ever come back down for an event I will definitely return.
How long does it take to get a glass of wine? It's called lunch hour for a reason. After a lengthy wait, I was told the wine on the menu was either not available or was not cold. She finally offered a (more expensive) substitute. I found my meal to be bland, covering it in soya sauce improved it somewhat.
Not my usual choice for a business meal but my colleague really likes Jack Astor's. I only say that as I tend to go a little more high-end depending upon who I am entertaining. However, it was really a nice get together and it wasn't too loud so we could all hear each other. Food was great as was the wine and beer. The booth was a good size so we weren't squeezed in. The server was really friendly and helpful. Because we took our time to order, the server made it clear he didn't want to disturb us. It did take a bit of time at the end of the meal to get our bill, but again, our server had made it clear he didn't want us to feel rushed.
We waited for our food (chicken wings, calamari and regular green salad) for almost an hour. Multiple servers came by our table and tried to deliver wrong food that we didn't order. The whole time our server didn't come to our table and check up on us or to let us know that the kitchen is backed up.
Although the service and ambiance were great the food that was served to me, which is the veg option of Pad Thai, was absolutely bland, they gave me sauce to put on top of white noodles...it was terrible. I have had the veg option of Pad Thai in the past (same location) and it has been excellent. But I was disappointed this time.
Our server was Aran. She was excellent! I ordered a salad and didn't realize that the tuna was seared on the outside and raw on the inside. It was my error, but definitely not my preference. Hearing this Aran on her own talked with the manager and I was offered chicken as a replacement. My client and I were so impressed! Hopefully this praise reaches Aran and her manager.
The service was really good at this location. The servers were very quick to bring us drinks, take our orders, and bring us the bill which was appreciated. The food was good. The atmosphere isn't extremely comfortable but is nice for a casual dining experience. It can get a bit loud, so not good for romantic dates or serious business lunches.
