Excellent option for business lunch in Coppell/North Irving area. Tables a bit close together for confidential convoSeating options for bar, hightop, booth and table. Interesting cocktail menu. Salads were perfect lunch portion.
Made a reservation for the bar area for Easter brunch and they were able to move us to the patio with no problem. Packed house and food and service were both great! We will be back.
Went with my husband. He got the meatloaf and I got the chicken tacos. We were both very happy with how our food tasted, it was just a strange experience. Our food came out suspiciously fast. Now it wasn't that crowded when we were there but when I tell you it was as fast as a drive thru fast food, that's what it felt like. It was tasty, but I was wondering the whole tie if everything was previously made and just microwaved at time of order. On a saturday night, we thought it would be packed so we made a reservation. When we got there only 2 or so tables were being used (some people sat outside).. Also the menu that Open Table has for them, does not match the menu at the restaurant (for example - no nashville hot chicken, and a few other things) .. Overall tasty food, but a few things made we question it. We may be back, just not that frequently
Unlike most restaurants you reserve on Open Table, which just put your name on a list that seems no shorter than their regular list, they actually had a "reserved" sign on a booth when we got there - a HUGE gift since I was on crutches. Our waitress was prompt and attentive without being annoying. Perfect for brunch!
Bronson is the best waiter ever!
We've been for weekend brunch, the place is happening, energetic and good. This time was a week day lunch, the place was almost empty. Service was still good and food came out fast. We had a grilled cheese, a burger and a bacon & avocado sandwich. Everything tasted fine. I'd go back, but probably on the weekend. The energy seemed to be what I was attracted to the first couple of times.
Great patio for a casual afternoon lunch pre or post-tennis.
10 of us had great meal within our corporate budget.
Service excellent. Fresh veggie burger instead of a frozen patti goes a long way.
I've been to J. Macklin's Grill four times now, and each time was very pleasant. The food is delicious and atmosphere is wonderful. I highly recommend this restaurant, and always look forward to going back.
The food was great & the service. The ambiance was so so. The music was not good & much to loud!!! Not conducive for conversation.
Went for an early start to the New Year's Eve celebrations. The special menu was really good, especially the white asparagus that was done similar to Scandinavian preparations. The normal menu is a mix between comfort food and fine dinning.
This was our first time at J Macklin's and we were very excited by the menu online. This was a friends and family get together for the holidays. While the food and drinks were excellent, the service left a lot to be desired. However, I am not sure if it was the waitress or the kitchen that was at fault. The food took FOREVER to receive and when we were done we waited a long time for our check to be picked up. Table was not pre-bussed throughout, and there were 6 of us so there were a lot of dirty dishes on the table. I have mixed feelings in regards to going back, maybe for the food but thinking about the service would give me pause.
The booths are very tight and confining. I thought the staff was very attentive and the menu had a lot of good selections. The TVs were kind of a confusing distraction with sports and news playing. The meal was good. I wouldn’t say great.
Everything was really tasty I emjoyed the atmosphere. I’m a steak fan but was very disappointed in the New York strip. The flavor and the way it was cooked was perfect but this cut of meat typically is very chewy. My request in recommendation would be to have another cut of meat available such as ribeye as the choice for steak on the menu.
Went here with a few friends late one night for dinner. The food was great! Our server must have been new as he wasn't sure of specials and got confused on who ordered what when it came to the bill but no other issues! He was very attentive and made sure we had a pleasant meal. I ordered the Short Rib sandwich and HIGHLY recommend! The only "complaint" from my group is the couple who ordered a steak thought it to be cooked to much for their liking (but they were never asked how they wanted it to be prepared). Other than that, great place with good food!
The food is good with big portion size. Outside entertainment is always a delightful experience. Only negative could be the close tables, as in cramped space, but sitting outside removes this negative.
Overpriced for basically bar food and terrible service
We are frequent guests and do so because we love the personal, friendly service and the very good food. I don't remember ever being served a sub par meal (and having eaten here well over 50 times, that is quite an accomplishment). We love the Buffalo Chicken egg rolls and the fried pickles as starters, we also love Happy Hour and the weekend brunch offerings. Definitely recommend checking Macklins out if you haven't been.
Cool place. Like the menu. Food was great. I had Shrimp and Grits, wife had fish and chips. Both were really good. Drinks were a little off. Old Fashions are one of my favorites so I ordered one but I didn't like it there.
Made a reservation and were seated 15 minutes after the reservation. What's the point of a reservation? The wait staff was great!
The patio with live entertainment is always a great experience with decent weather. The menu changes weekly with creations that are always full of flavor.
We had a celebration lunch for my work team and the food and service was outstanding. We loved it. The waitress was very informative and helpful. She kept up with us all, and there were 8 of us. Thank you!
Love j Macks!
We just recently moved to North Texas and a friend took us to J Macklins when we were up on a house hunting trip. We live in Flower Mound now which is not that far but if it were closer we would definitely dine in more often. We had guest in so decided to take them there for dinner since the menu is diverse and has something for everyone's taste. Great food and great service.
Hip chips were cold. Not even warm. Everything else was served at correct temp, and was good. Wait staff was great.
I had to search for a place for a business lunch in Coppell an area I am not familiar with.My client indicated that they didn't like ethnic food which narrowed my choices! This restaurant had a good rating and pretty basic food. The atmosphere was pleasant and the hostess and our server were attentive. My client had a BLT with mac n cheese as her side.i ordered a burger mo,no cheese with arrugala. The sandwich was ok, the mac n cheese runny with unmelted cheese.Thr burger came with a bun, well done no arrugala and not really hot.It was clearly a pre-made, frozen patty or had been precooked.
Since it was a business lunch I did not complain but next time I ha e business lunch in Coppell it won't be here.
The food left a lot to be desired. We had the 21 day aged NY strip/Kobe meatballs/Kobe sandwich/shrimp and grits and many more. All were just very average tasting at best. They had no flavor. The waiter sat us at a tall table and did not offer to move us when we came in with 3 toddlers from age 2-7. He did not even offer us a children's menu. We spent almost $200 that day and would not be back again.
