    First time eating here for 5 of 7 of us on Sunday, the 17th. Server was great, but whoever was cooking, overcooked and burnt 4 out of 5 of the meals (four of us shared 2 meals). The 2 steaks were ordered medium and both were well done. The pork chop was overcooked and the burger was ordered medium rare and could barely be classified medium. Only the salmon meal was decent. We all agreed that while the atmosphere was nice, we would not choose this restaurant to eat at again due to the poor food we were given. And, no, we didn't complain because we did not want to wait for all new meals. Please have the cook LOWER the heat and cook the meats for less time because we did not enjoy our meats at all.

    Waitress was amazing! Bad spot for a table though, she kept getting pushed away from us and interrupted. Too much grease in au gratin potatoes. Otherwise, wonderful! Keep up good work!

    My husband and I were at J. Gilbert's to celebrate our anniversary. Our drinks and meals were absolutely outstanding, and the service we received from our server, Dommanique, was exceptional. The restaurant also very kindly gave us a special dessert for our celebration. I've been to top drawer steakhouses in New York, Chicago, and LasVegas, and the experience at J. Gilbert's was absolutely one of the very, very best I've ever had. It was extremely loud in there, but it was a full house, and there was a large group celebrating either a birthday or Bachelorette party at a very close table, so the noise level would be expected. Thanks so much, Dommanique and J. Gilbert's for a wonderful anniversary dinner experience. We will be back.

    If you want a great steak, definitely the spot. Probably the best steak we have ever had-could be cut with a fork so tender and flavorful. Went with a reservation which in the grand scheme of things didn’t matter, still had to wait. The server we had was inattentive bordering on rude. There was another one helping a table across from us that was amazing, so luck of the draw. Mediocre sides, fantastic beverages, would try it again.

    J. Gilbert's is fantastic! I think their menu provides a great variety. Love their wedge salad and the fixed prix menu has lots of great choices to choose from. Not to mention, our service has always been outstanding!

    I didn’t know there was an upstairs, but there is, and the ambiance is way different. I have a 2 year old and I would never imagine bringing him to a place like this. A noisy 2 year old was next to us and disrupted the evening. My husband and i’s steaks were underdone and had to be taken back to the grill. Also, we waited for steak knives from our waiter and finally waved down someone to get a knife to cut open the steak in the first place. Overall, compared to other times dining here, highly unsatisfied.

    Absolutely wonderful meal. My wife had the salmon and was very pleased. I had the 4oz filet and scallops and was equally pleased. Our waiter Ian also made our experience so wonderful. He is exactly what you hope for in a waiter. Friendly, personable, and knows when to just let you enjoy your date. Ask for Ian!

    Although we have been a fan of J Gilbert's, it was not as good as it was when we were last there in July 2023 (this year) and the July meal was not as good as when we previously visited. My wife ordered the lobster tails (sides carrots and broccolini) and I ordered the 6oz filet (sides mushrooms and baked potato). The lobster tails were terribly small - much smaller than last time - maybe 4 bites each. The filet - although cooked correctly - was supposed to be 6 oz but it was not any bigger than the supposedly 4 oz filet that another person in our party had with their combo meal. In addition, BOTH the carrots and broccolini where terribly undercooked to the point that they were hard to eat (we did not send back as we did not want to cause a distraction with the other couple we were dining with on this visit). The baked potato and mushrooms were good as well as the deserts. The restaurant just did not live up to its "fine dining" reputation on this visit.

    This was truly one of the best dining experiences I have had since the pandemic. The service was impeccable and the prix fix menu gave an ample sample of their menu. Someone remarked at our table that would truly have enjoyed trying anything on the menu. Smoke-infused drink has a wonderful presentation and my steak and crab cake were cooked perfectly. I wish that I had asked more about the dessert options. The carrot cake is very heavy on nuts.

    My husband & I were in town for our 1st wedding anniversary. We chose to have our anniversary dinner at J. Gilbert’s. Our waitress was amazing! I can’t remember her name. But, she knew her stuff. They have thought of several different ways to elevate their customer’s dining experience. Whenever making a reservation through OpenTable, it prompts you to put in a reason for the reservation. We have never had any restaurant do anything above & beyond or drawing any attention regarding what we were celebrating. That was until our reservation at J. Gilbert’s! We highly recommend this restaurant. We could’ve spent our money anywhere, but the staff made our business feel valued & appreciated!

    You advertise as “Omaha’s Finest” so you have a tall order to stand up to. My wife and I dined with you for her birthday celebration this past Friday evening and it was our first time with you. Our reservation was at 7:30 PM. The first thing I noticed was that your dining area carpets were filthy with food debris. Have your staff run stick vacs occasionally for goodness sake. For Omaha’s Finest from the initial impression you seemed little better than Denny’s. Our server, Jordan, was very nice and helpful, at least for the first three quarters of the evening. Food. My Oysters Rockefeller were very good and my wife enjoyed her shrimp cocktail. We ordered a Prix Fixe menu. We each had the Maryland Crab Bisque soup, fairly mild in flavor, but with the addition of some of our Pinot Grigio wine from our wine glasses it perked right up. The main course is where the big disappointment arrived. My wife’s two Canadian Lobster tails arrived looking fairly withered as if they had been sitting under a warming lamp or some such thing, for too long. And yes, they were dry and tough once she tried them. We had to send them back. Not a good start for Omaha’s Finest. My Filet which I ordered medium rare looked great, was properly cooked, and tasted great. However, about halfway through the steak, the meat became so tough I could scarcely chew it. All tenderloin filets I’ve had at high-end restaurants have been like butter. This was not so. So, now, between dirty carpets, my wife’s dish having to go back, my steak only being partially edible, and now I try the Poblano Scalloped Potatoes, they taste great but the potatoes are a bit underdone. I’m definitely not impressed at this point. The scallops however were very tasty and perfectly prepared. As I’m almost out of space, let me just say, Jordan was pretty good overall all but became fairly inattentive of us towards the latter part of our dining. We were not impressed with our experience at Omaha’s Finest.
