This restaurant was amazing. It is definitely a top 10 in Omaha. The service was great, food awesome, and the atmosphere was laid back yet had a feel of dress to impress. I would go back again. In an area of other places to go after dinner as well so great location. The new capitol district looks amazing. Went on my anniversary and they provided a dessert and a card that we kept congratulating us. Definitely top restaurant.
Food was great...service polite not very experienced for fine dinning. Interior very "corporate" looking.

Great restaurant food. Our service was very slow although our waitress was probably assigned too many tables. The table we were seated at was near an entry from the hotel lobby. Very awkward entry and disturbing to our meal.
There were so many entrees the looked good that it was hard to make a choice. My steak and scallops were perfection. So were the sides: creamed corn and mashed potatoes.
Look forward to another visit but seated elsewhere and hoping the service improves.
Everything was fine overall. A bit noisy for carrying on a conversation. Would suggest making the artichoke dip creamier with the artichoke diced instead of in chucks. Service was good. Cosmos were very good. We will go back.
Excellent service! A "MUST TRY" : Blue Cheese Potato Chips on the appetizer menu!
Had a great dinner at J Gilberts, the filet was cooked perfect, everything came out still hot and flavorful. Our waiter was great, answered all of our question, again brought, drinks, appetizers, salads and main course out with unbelievable timing. While the alcoholic beverages were higher than i am use paid at other Omaha Resturantes for the same beverage, i will definitely return
Steak was raw, potatoes were cold. It wasn’t that busy but took forever to get service and food. Appetizer came out after the salad!
The service, the food, the ambiance- all were superb. Best filet I have ever had in Omaha. Seriously. The corn casserole was fantastic and the pretzel crusted onion rings were a surprising twist that we loved as well. Will definitely be back!

Went for Mother’s Day dinner. Sadly, we felt let down, especially after reading reviews for this restaurant.
We were greeted and seated quickly. My daughter ordered a mojito and I ordered a Prosecco cocktail special. We waited a long time for our drinks and the server apologized noting she had to run down to the bar and she felt badly that there wasn’t a bar on the top floor. My daughter’s drink was not enjoyable and tasted as if an ingredient was missing. She sent it back.
I ordered the prefix meal with soup, filet/scallops and Yukon mashed potatoes and asparagus. My daughter ordered the charcuterie tray for us to share and the 6ox filet with risotto. The soup was very good. No bread was ever brought to our table. We watched others arrive after us and served bread. Not sure what happened.
The charcuterie tray was lovely. Sadly, the meal was not paced well and our entrees were brought to the table while we were half-way through. When we began to eat our entree, we realized we were not given steak knives so we needed to wait for an opportunity to find our server. Additionally, my mashed potatoes were cold in the center. The server apologized and brought a new plate of potatoes which were overly heated to the point where I couldn’t bare to take a bite until some time passed for cooling. All the while, eating the rest of the meal.
We ordered the créeme brûlée for dessert. We waited again, for a long time for the dessert. The server apologized and said she’d check on the status. She returned quickly with the dessert.
We thought there might be a complimentary discount for the many things that went wrong, but the only modification was the removal of the drink my daughter sent back. We expected a top notch dining experience but certainly did not. This was a shame. I don’t think the team was prepared to receive the Mother’s Day crowd and serve parties with excellence. We were very disappointed. This was not the experience described on their website.

We (me and my two daughters) came to J Gilbert’s or wine and appetizers before going to a show at Holland Center. We were greeted at the door and given. $25. gift certificate for being moms!
We loved the wine and the appetizers were delicious! Our server was pleasant. We will definitely come back!

Unfortunately it was impossible to hear with 50's and 60s bop music blaring rather than an easy listening background music like you might expect in a nice restaurant at a Sunday lunch/brunch, especially in Mothers day.... So much fo talking with mom at a nice meal on her day. They did have a very nice fixed price menu for mother's day with very healthy portions and the food was well prepared.

My wife and I had finally got to try your restaurant with our friends for Mothers Day. The experience and food was amazing. We had a couple porterhouse steaks and filets along with some calamari and spinach artichokes appetizers. Everything was spot on. This was our first experience at J. Gilbert's and it proved to be delightful. Our server was Mary and she was very attentive without being intrusive. The food was delicious and well prepared. I had a fillet and my son had the crab cakes. I would dine here again.

Girlfriends dinner it was fun!
After making a reservation two months in advance we arrive and find that they do not have a table in the bar. They sat us on the dining room which was crowded and very noisy. We just wanted small plates and a few glasses of wine before going to a concert.
They did let us order from the happy hour menu but felt guilty taking up a wait staff’s table for our happy hour food.
It was extremely busy and we had a very long wait before even getting waited on. Might have ordered differently if we had better/faster service.
Since it was our first visit wished it would have been more positive. Restaurant seemed unprepared for the crowd.

Service was prompt, friendly, and attentive. Food was beautifully served and prepared as requested. Never had a meal I didn’t like here. Wide variety of choices, all amazing. Surf and turf is a winner and so are the Green Beans with Pecans for a side. Don’t skip out on dessert. Always delicious. Highly recommend the Creme Brûlée and Coconut Cake.

We thoroughly enjoyed dining at J. Gilberts! Tyler was our server and he was spectacular! He asked questions to determine exactly what we were looking for and may absolutely spot on suggestions!! We are fairly snobbish about crab cakes and try them everywhere we go. Tyler assured us that these would stand up to the best we have ever eaten. We actually doubted that they would even come close but were shocked that they actually may be the best we have ever tasted! We had the crab cakes for our appetizer, then we split a tomahawk steak that was prepared perfectly. Our sides were the creamed corn with bacon and the burnt ends mac and cheese. We would definitely order the corn again. The burnt ends were a little disappointing because it did not have much meat and it was more pulled pork than burnt ends. We would definitely return to J. Gilbert's and would request Tyler every time!

We are usually very easy to please, however were disappointed with the food as it was nothing as anticipated. The heirloom carrots barely resembled carrots and were too hard to slice. The Tuna was overdone. Tasteless. Sadly, we will not be taking out of town guests there again especially when spending that much money.

Went for my belated birthday dinner on a Sunday evening. Not very crowded but we were an early dinner. Sundays are awesome as bottles of wine under $100 are half-off. They have a great prix-fix menu that includes soup/salad, entree, and dessert for a great value. My husband has had the burger both times we have been. I have had their filet both times. Outstanding. The sides have all been good. Have had macaroni and cheese, jalapeno potatoes, sweet potato fries, green beans, and asparagus. Desserts to die for. Salads are crisp and a nice size. The house salad has a lot of different extras added in. Tyler our server was awesome. One of the best we have ever had anywhere. Personable, attentive, great sense of humor. We will definitely be back.

It took the waitress too long to correct our bill after I discovered a $25 mistake. Water glasses were empty and we sat waiting for at least 15 minutes just to see an accurate bill. Food was excellent, service was substandard.
