The food was outstanding! Also loved the extra little treats from the chef.
Atmosphere was cozy and relaxed. Food presentation was excellent. Service was right on. Libations were nice and varied.
The food was good, the atmosphere was good, however. When looking at my receipt at home I noticed that the waiter put some of the items for the other couple on our bill and some of our items on the bill for the other couple. I feel terrible because we probably have a larger ticket. I don’t think it’s that difficult to get two tickets straight
Anniversary date - another fantastic experience at J Devoti. Fresh and innovative food. Personable service. This restaurant is a local treasure.
We had been once before during restaurant week with a limited menu. This trip was great. I love the cool , casual vibe and the restaurant is quiet enough that you don't have to strain to hear what your dinner partners are saying. Some things can be pricey, but others are right in line with other restaurant fare...it's just that this food isn't and doesn't feel mass produced. The homemade breads were delicious as were homemade pastas. I ordered pork loin which was fork tender but not mushy at all. It had a great flavor. We also had the gnocchi special with vegetables--unlike other goopy sauced gnocchi-- and it was very nice. The spaghetti had no tomato in sight--just mushrooms and a wine/butter sauce, but it wasn't greasy. The charcuterie plate we started with had a nice mix of ingredients: capicolla, cheese, liver pate, pineapple/jalapeno jam, delicious tender tongue (don't think, just eat) and that delicious bread. Homemade blackberry sorbet and vanilla ice cream was a sweet ending. Great evening--go there!
Our party of five (mostly) foodies agreed that the house-made raviolis and summer salads were excellent. Dessert of blackberry sorbet with little shortbread cookies was scrumptious. As we were the lone table occupied on the outdoor patio, the noise level was limited to our animated conversations. A computer glitch confused a couple of the checks, but that frustration was minor in light of the excellence of our overall dining experience.
Food was too pricey for what you got. Tasting menu was way over priced. Had to got get fast food afterwards because it was so minimal.
Food was exquisite.
We had a wonderful dinner! The burger was the best! I also really enjoyed the deviled eggs we had as an appetizer. Kevin, our server, was attentive and professional.
Only complaint was how close the 2-top tables were - it felt cramped and crowded.
Bread was great. Service was too fast. Wait staff trying to take plates when not finished eating. The food was mediocre.
Absolutely delicious & lovely evening! J Devoti is one of our very favorite restaurants! The food is always fresh & creative. Drinks are excellent! Service is always very good. We are there at least twice a month & always enjoy the experience!
Our favorite restaurant on The Hill for a nice dinner!
Food and service was great. Sat us at table in front of a window would have been great except sun was shining in my eyes for 30 minutes. Took away from the night. Mostly because they had to know that was not a comfortable table at this time of the year. They had open tables. Why do that? No response needed. But definitely not an empathic group.
Mushroom pizza was delicious. Not enough small plate starter selections, and other dishes were just ok. Drink selections limited too. The service was very good. Nicely decorated. I would go back, but only for specific items.
If you could lower the noise chatter - insulating the ceiling, walls - it would be appreciated . It was the only negative feature of the experience which otherwise was excellent.
This place is so nice. Elegant atmosphere and good food. Lavioli, Salad, Soup, Bread we ordered and shared. Quality, volume and price was so satisfying. Beer and wine was also good.
There are plenty of parking places on the road.
Farm to table dining at its finest. Quiet enough to have a nice conversation with everyone at the table. Food was outstanding as well as the service. I love how all the servers pitch in with all the tables. Bar dink’s were very tasty and original. They even catered quite easily to my vegetarian friend. What a great place to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We will definitely be back to this awesome restaurant.
Wonderful restaurant! Definitely a find
Can't wait to go back
Food was Farm to Table
Creative and so delicious
My daughter and I enjoyed our dinner immensely. She raved about the crab cake and her spaghetti. My scallops were cooked to perfection. We loved the farm to table approach as well. You can tell that everyone working there is truly passionate about what they do.
We ordered the large plate of cheeses and meats. When the waitress brought it we asked what something on the plate was. She said was ham, but it looked like turkey. We both took one bite and it was disgusting and mushy. We told the waitress it was inedible. She said she’d be sure to tell “chef.” She came back later and said thanks for letting us know - we are learning. WTF? We both ordered a pasta. They were both 18 dollars a piece. It was okay but I ordered fettuccini. I was expecting a white sauce. It was just a red ragu sauce. It was okay but not something I’d eat again. We were here in January and had a fabulous meal. Not sure what’s happened since January but I don’t think we’ll be back. Oh and the restaurant did nothing to compensate us for the “ham” which was truly awful. I would have expected something ... a free drink or dessert or even some type of monetary amount of our bill.
I can't believe this restaurant isn't getting more press and notice. this was our third visit in 2 years. There were 4 of us and we had a variety of salads and entrees. The serve an amuse bouche and warm cookies with the bill. All of us really enjoyed our meals and will come back soon.
We did a tasting and each course was very different but very tasty. Recommend it!
Food was great. Both ordered pasta dishes, since the pasta is made in house.
Cocktails were excellent, nice wine list. One complaint-- hand pie for dessert was tiny!
Would definitely go back.
We loved our experience yet
At the beginning we were seated next to a couple with a young child who was struggling in the restaurant. It made our experience unpleasant at the beginning and first course. The child was crying and the mess on the table and floor was handled poorly by the parents.
The bread service, soup, salads, pastas, and dessert were lovely.
Flavors, textures, and a richness of aroma and service were the best.
I will be back soon.
Service was absolutely horrible from the beginning to the end the charcuterie platter was $25 with a single meat only and two small pieces of cheese. Caesar salad was good I had the ravioli entrée which was three ravioli for 18 or $19 took just under an hour to receive my entrée Will not return read about a lot of hype and great reviews didn’t get it here
I thought the food and service were outstanding. The wine list was very good, and offered some very interesting wines. I will definitely return, it was an overall great experience.
The food was amazing! Softshell crabs were very well done and the cold asparagus soup was undeniably the best I’ve ever had. It literally tasted like the asparagus came right out of the garden that day. Staff was awesome as always. Thank you for a wonderful dinner
They take the farm to table movement seriously here. Spinach soup was fantastic and my fettuccine tasted absolutely fresh. (But hey, this is “the Hill”, so I was expecting the pasta to be great). I love the room as well.
The food was good but a bit short on choices .... outside of that an outstanding experience
Lovely restaurant with great food and wonderful service will be back soon..
Exactly the experience I was expecting to have eating dinner on The Hill. Our server spoke very quickly for some reason but overall he was very accommodating and we enjoyed our girls night out. The tasting menu was amazing.
Favorite restaurant on the hill. Inventive menu but still Italian. Menu printed everyday. Locally sourced ingredients. Good wine list and personable service. Would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Good was excellent. Bread wonderful. Service excellent. This is our 4th. Is it and restaurant never disappoints
Great food and a talented chef marred by an experience overshadowed by an inattentive and absent server with literally no sense of urgency or memory we even existed. If it were not for another server, who was not our own, we would probably still be sitting at our table waiting for our food. We knew there was a problem when 4 other tables, who had arrived after us, were already on their second courses. Oddly enough, inside our bill was a “how did we do” survey that had already been completed on our behalf with our servers name on it, with all excellent ratings. Coincidence?
We dined here for Hill Restaurant Week. We were seated in a timely manner but then ignored for 20 minutes. Our server was unaware that we were his despite serving the table not more than 18 inches from ours. The restaurant did comp our drinks. The portion sizes were minuscule, not more than 3 ounces for the entree. The beef I had wasn’t that good, it was shredded and reconstituted to form a patty. Over cooked and served with looked like a deep fried slice of tongue. I chose not to eat it. The tuna my spouse was also very small. Dessert was included in the 3 course meal. It too was tiny. We left hungry.
Save your money and dine at one of the great Italian restaurants on the hill. We left feeling hungry.
Food was outstanding. Great service and atmosphere as well.
A very nice dinner overall.
The entree was micro-food...the portion was half of what it should have been.
And for $250 for 4 people (with a bottle of wine), the value is questionable.
I thought this spot was a little trendy for the hill. Food was good. Portions a little small. Did not like that they charged $5 for a small loaf of bread and herbed butter.
