Wonderful place to hang out as always
Consistently delicious and wide-ranging flavors and offerings. They are completely touchless now - you order from an iPad and pay right there at the table, but the servers are just as kind and the food is as wonderful as always.
ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE‼️ First let me start by saying the pics on here are nowhere near what you get!! Secondly, not only was the waitress very rude, but they make you order and pay first. After the food came out I see why they do that bc we literally order over $100 worth of food and ate a few bites of the steamed white rice and a few sips of the miso soup which was very salty! (I’m a salt lover might I add) even the mochi and green tea ice cream horrible. The short ribs were still raw when they came out and I even sent them back to cook longer but when they came back out there was hardly any meat just pure chewy fat! I ask for sugar for my green tea they brought me sugar on a plate with spoon that was dirty. We ended up just getting up and leaving !! Let me not forget to mention, we had to pay and tip in the beginning for what?? Bad service, horrible food, and the worse experience, bc they don’t except cash with!!
All are good. They have also outside patio you can sit and eat which is more risk free now a day. Only downside is that you have to order using their app yourself and pay all to place the order after you sit down. Since you have to pay them first and close the tab, if you want to order additional items later, you have to use their app again to order and pay especially drinks.
Great food and service.
Always a wonderful dinner! The place has great ambience and the staff is attentive.
Authentic Japanese food
Ordered a good variety of items. Enjoyed each one, and especially the high quality of the salmon sashimi, cucmber sunomono, the tasty eggplant miso and not too oily lightly battered veggie tempura. Waitress was kind and helpful when we had problems getting our order to go through via our phone/ internet. She kindly took our order in person and overall enjoyed the evening. Some dishes arrived a little after the other ones but since they are tapas type dishes not having all arrive at once made sense and worked out well. Each dish arrived properly hot or chilled.
What a terrific little place, always great food and congenial circumstances.
The food was great, the service was nice, the outdoor dining was very spacious and relaxed - our overall experience at the table was awesome. Just the booking process was a little hectic and the person who answered the call was not friendly or helpful. Might not be suitable for bigger parties with more than 6 people, which doesn’t really make sense to me because they have a huge outdoor space and only half full.
The staff are always so helpful and friendly, and the food is simply superb. Old favorites on the menu are matched by specials, and a great many sorts of saki, beer, and other drinks are available. Covid adaptations include converting the small parking lot behind the restaurant into a pleasant outside dining space, and the compellingly redesigned interior provides divided spaces. Street parking can be daunting, and using Uber or Lyft is a good way to go as a consequence.
The food was amazing. And the wait staff recommended an excellent sake. I can’t wait to go back to this hidden gem next time we are in LA.
Overall we had a great experience, we ordered the miso black cod, eel roll, and spider roll. There were all excellent. Service was great. Outdoor seating is a funky little atmosphere. We decided at the end to order one more roll a volcano roll and unfortunately the fish was tough and not edible. Was a shame because the first orders were superb.
We would definitely go back and we highly recommend.
Friends from out of town came, and we heard good things about izakaya!
Nice restaurant with friendly and accommodating staff. Food was excellent.
Fabulous selection of dishes, all well prepared, including some delicious things I haven't seen before, such as the tamago stuffed with unagi, the cold smoked duck, and the uni wrapped with wagyu. Also a fun, very Tokyo-style vibe. Will definitely be back!
So disappointing! Good foods but TERRIBLE service!!!
Average food with above average prices.
Amazing service. Great waitress Julie!
extremely diverse menu and everything was great. highly recommend the salmon sashimi.
Service was great despite the fact that there was so many tables with one waitress but the food was horrible, cannot believe that this restaurant was listed in Opentable with such a bad quality of food, Opentable should reconsider this restaurant as one of their vendor.
The outdoor dining experience was ok with the only caveat that there was no heaters so bundle up. It’s ok if you come and eat quickly without lingering. The service was good. They were very understanding and nice. The food was good and we thoroughly enjoyed the oyakudon. The tolls were decent and the skewers were delish. Will be back soon.
A neighborhood gem and the food is delicious! Their outdoor dining is safe and the tables have very good social distancing. Due to how far the tables are apart and how large the outdoor space is, I think it makes it difficult on the staff members to bring out the food and service is compromised a bit. This is a recent discovery of ours and we have been dining there once to twice a week since the outdoor dining in LA has been reopened.
Do NOT eat here! The service is non existent, the food is terrible, and even worse, they tried to rip us off! I ordered rolls with no mayo and when the check came, they tripled the price and called them "custom" without warning, and then when we refused to pay that for rolls that were tiny, terrible, and falling apart, the waitress said, "You are pathetic! Don't ever come back!! Get out!!" But not before she still charged our credit card. We were astounded at how sub par this place was with such entitled, lazy, and rude staff.
Bad service. Didn’t take my order until I called them over and food took 90 minutes to come. Not going back :(
Wanna give them a pass given the difficulties restaurants are facing today, but my party of 5 had a 6:30 reservation and waited about an hour and a half to receive any part of our meal other than drinks (and even to get water took well over 30 minutes).
Sasaya has one of the best outdoor patio set-ups in the city. The food is awesome. The service is great. So much fun. We'll be back soon for sure.
Delicious, authentic Japanese food with great service and atmosphere.
Love this restaurant! Unassuming with great quality food.
We had so much fun at Sasaya! The food was great. The patio is awesome. Definitely going back soon!
Food was subpar, they played rap music with explicit lyrics, there were curse words on the wall and went home feeling sick to my stomach.
The food took 45 min to arrive. There were only 6 people there and the waitress could not figure out where the order was. The spinach was horrible. The rolls were mediocre at best. Not a good place to eat.
Food: we ordered miso soup seaweed salad, sunomono, spicy tuna roll, skewers, beef tepanyaki, rice, and sashkmi plate. All excellent! The sashimi was super fresh and delicious! I would love to come back and try more if their dishes.
Service: service was timely and she was friendly.
Atmosphere: we went for dinner so it was dark out. we sat outside because of Covid. They have a big outdoor space set-up thats very fun. The lights are multicolored and little laterns are strung across. It is a little too dark imo I think they should add some more lights.
Situation: casual dinner / easy date night / good for friends
@kensiekins on tik tok for a video review!
Unbelievably bad service. Waited 30 minutes for a waiter to even come by the table. Waited an hour for the first food (miso soup). Were there two hours and never got all of our food. Couldn't even find a waiter to give us our bill. Amazingly bad.
Quarantine review: Now that only outdoor dining is allowed, there were tents and turf set up in what used to be the back parking lot. The food and service were great, my only suggestion is putting up outdoor string lighting at night.
Great service, friendly smiles and cool atmosphere. Reminds me of the Izakayas back in Japan. Def. recommended!
Great food and mellow environment. I highly recommend.
