Izakaya Pau Hana Base
Everything was well seasoned and delicious. One of our favorite joints in the neighborhood.
Fantastic off-the-beaten-path gem. We ordered a bunch of dishes - gyoza, beef and veggies, sesame ramen, pork katsudon - and all were delicious. Service is on the slower side but they cook each dish to order I believe and the staff was lovely. Worth every minute and dollar (very reasonably priced!)
Cute place. Used to be pretty divy area but the building next door is coming down. If they have to relocate I hope they can find a great place.
Ohana kine place with good food and prices. Authentic funky alley, a bit like you'd find in Tokyo.
Sake prices great too. Kitchen looks very clean. Big menu. Good Saba
Good job guys!
Delicious food, great place to go - no matter how many people in your party. Every dish was amazing, we just wanted to keep eating!
I really enjoyed this place. Some interesting izakaya dishes. Every was good to great! Had a great vibe and was a great evening. I would definitely recommend this place if looking for a very casual, japanese restaurant. You won't be disappointed.
Great cozy Izakaya tucked down an alley right off the drag in Waikiki. Every dish is solid.
Fantastic food. One of Honolulu's best kept foodie secrets. Highly recommend.
Food is always delicious and the value is great. We come here often
Food is always good here but when they do get busy it does take time to get your order or you'll have to flag a server for assistance. Other than a slow staff it's a cozy little hole in the wall to dine at and it has a nice charm to the izakaya spot.
A Great Place a little of the strip, if you want to try something other than the chains.
Excellent food in an off the beaten path location. Don’t miss the chance to make your own cotton candy on the way out!
Cannot express how happy we were with the food and service! Everything was perfect! We'll be back for sure!!
The food and the ambiance here is great. It really does feel like a hidden gem. This restaurant is tucked away in Waikiki behind a couple of buildings and reminds me of an izakaya in Japan. If I lived nearby, I'd visit way more often.
For the price and what it is (an izakaya), I'd give this place a full 5 stars... The only thing keeping me from doing so is that the bathroom is located in the dive bar upstairs. Aside from that minor inconvenience, this place is fantastic.
Awesome authentic Japanese izakaya food. Small plate, inexpensive and fast.
You just can’t beat the Happy Hour drink and food menu.
Cheap and delicious and kindly.
Japanese people should go once.
Incredible authentic experience of Japanese (and some Korean) food. You felt as though you where transported to a family establishment in central Tokyo. The food: fresh and flavorful. The ambiance: authentic and comfortable. The value: out of this world.
So much fun. The food was spot on! Best Agedashi I’ve had in my life and the gyoza probably was too. Topping the night off with candy floss was so much fun! No instruction on it though and saw a guy at another table shot the sugar he was given.
Celebrating New Year’s Eve. Awesome hidden jem. Great Happy Hour.
Fair value, decent food. Parked at Waikiki Trade Center. If shop at Rack (for any amount), 2 hour validation is free!
We waited a long time since we ordered. So I don’t wanna go there again.
The place can be difficult to fine. It is hidden in an alley. Do not why a gratitude of 15% was automatically added to the bill. We only have 3 in the party. Not a big group by any standard.
Tasty, homey comfort Japanese/Korean food. A wide variety of choices at very reasonable prices - most plates or bowls are $10 or less. Our dinner was delicious and portions were satisfying. Beer and wine also served at reasonable prices too. Highly recommend the okonomiyaki (Japanese frittata). The icing on the cake was a complementary cotton candy which you get to make yourself. It was fun!
My husband and I love hole in the wall restaurants so this place was PERFECT! Don’t go if you’re looking for something fancy, definitely go if you’re looking for an authentic hidden gem.
I absolutely LOVED this little gem. Great food for happy hour and kind happy service. Head upstairs after to a little bar with friendly locals and strong drinks. Just the type of hole in the wall I love, then a block up a walk on the canal.
This was our second time there during our vacation in Waikiki. Hidden gem just off Kuhio and Seaside, minutes walk from the Waikiki Beach. Broke da mouth food and excellent service. Happy Hour till 7pm with $3 beer and selections of pupu.
A very authentic izakaya with large selections of tasty small plates izakaya food with exceptional service. This place is a little hidden gem in Waikiki.
Wonderful food and friendly service
A true hidden gem - this place is amazing. Incredible food and awesome ambiance. Don’t be scared by the alley entrance... you will not regret eating here.
Amazing Japanese food
Service, foods and price are great. Off the beaten path. Crowd can get loud as they get drunk. Don't use restrooms.
