We offer full sushi bar, kitchen and bar.
Good sushi in Carbondale. Staff are excellent and the setting if very nice. I like the sushi and rolls and there are happy hour specials on Fridays.
Best sushi place in RVF!!
We enjoyed a lovely meal on the outdoor patio. After ordering at the bar counter, our food was brought to our table, perfectly paced between the small plates and entrees. Great flavors, great service and a wonderful ambience.
Super job of COVID-mindful prep for patio or indoor dining. We opted for early dinner patio to avoid unnecessary contact. Great food, awesome service, beautiful covered patio setup, but small portions (especially for the cost): 2 apps, 2 entrees, 2 beers, 1 glass wine and still hungry. We had dessert at home. Would highly recommend if you are light eaters or don't mind opening your wallet for more...hence the meh! rating on Value.
Best Japanese in Carbondale . John and the crew made it for an amazing birthday experience. Thank you
Always a great experience!
Not only is Izakaya an outstanding restaurant, though expensive by Carbondale standards, but our waitress was remarkable. She must have been watching us, because she was at the table when we needed something, and did not come to the table needlessly. Some many servers today do not look around.
Great neighborhood spot. Great bar, great service. I highly recommend it!
We were seated right away, but our server just couldn’t keep up. She seemed very interested in the tables with drinking customers, however, we were a table of five with only one adult. She was rude and condescending all night, making it clear that asking for more water or drinks was a chore. Upon ordering our main course, I asked for plain noodles in broth, for my 10 year old. She made it clear that we were asking for something complicated. Our food finally came out, all but the noodles. I finally, 15 minutes later, had to ask the manager if he could locate the noodles. If the food had been amazing, this snobby service would have been ok, however the food was medium at best. Unevenly cut rolls, clumsily cut fish, and a general absence of finesse, made for a C- experience.
We have enjoyed many meals at IzaKaya and consider it one of our favorite restaurants. However, Friday night we were not so pleased. While the wait staff, the Sake, the salmon roll were terrific, the veg curry was quite unappealing visually. It tasted only ok. Next time, we simply will order something different. The main upset was that there were 2 black chairs parked in the dark hallway next to the ladies room. After dinner I went to the ladies room...bright lights, then into the dark hallway, and caught my foot on the leg of the dark chair. I fell hard, grabbing onto the metal railing above. Not only was I embarrassed, but my back, neck, shoulder, hand took the brunt. A nice gentleman employee rushed over to help me and acknowledged the chairs needed to be placed elsewhere. Please make certain the hazards in the dark hallways are removed. Thanks.
Fabulous clean and creative food, everything cooked and/or prepared to perfection; service attentive, professional; overall wonderful, but pricey!
We had a great experience with a surprise dinner for our daughter. Thank you!
Not as great as we were anticipating, sorry to say. Just to qualify, the ambiance and the service from Nash, our waiter, was fine...quite good, in fact. It was the food that was the big disappointment. The edamame was not plump so that the pods appeared almost empty. The filling in the gyoza was mushy with an indistinct flavor that resembled cream cheese. My husband had sushi and I had the chicken salad. The sushi was not rolled all that well and although the fish was fresh, it was not flavorful. My salad was incredibly bland. I wanted to ask for salt and pepper and some dressing, but knew that would be a bit insulting. The price was high for the mediocre meal. They are trying hard, but sadly we won't be back.
Food was good but service was not so good. Didn’t ask if we wanted more drinks or give us any specials or recommendations.
Absolutely one of the best meals we have had and Nash was a great waiter. Loved it.
Their food is always awesome.
The sushi takes super super long the last few times we have been there. They were very apologetic. But plan 2+ hours if you are going. I am guessing they are training new people. Still love the place !
The entire experience at IzaKaya is always amazing. Nash, our server, was gracious, attentive and yet gave us our space to enjoy our son's last "supper" before he was off to college! The Spicy Crunchy Salmon is to die for, as is their eel. One can't go wrong here!
We came in during first Friday which is normally crazy busy. They sat us immediately, the food was amazing! Healthy options and very creative dishes.
We had a great dinner here. Food was really good, service was prompt and attentive, and the ambiance was great.
This is our second time coming and we really enjoyed it.
We will be back!
It was date night and we had a great time! Service was spectacular! Had great popcorn shrimp and yakisoba. The fresh tuna poke was terrific!
We would recommend! Food was fantastic. Our server, Eric, was spot on attentive. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. We loved it.
Would recommend with reservations. Food was very good. Server changed after we were seated and had ordered a drink. Original server said his "time was up". Refill of wine glass, ordered while we still had food was not brought until check was paid. Overall, service seemed a bit absent-minded and scattered.
Food was awesome. Great ambiance. Price was perfect for the value. Went there twice in one week. Definitely will return
Me encantó la atención y la comida como siempre... espectacular!
Awesome meal for the 6 of us with highly entertaining server, Jeremy.
IzaKaya is the dining gem of Carbondale.
The menu is fantastic and the quality of food, service, and ambiance keep our family coming back for more!
Great restaurant. One of the beast meals I ever had. Great Asian - fusion cuisine. Fast service but very relaxed atmosphere. Easy to find and good location. Great value. Don't miss generous happy hour.
Not impressed. Food was ok, overpriced. They forgot my son’s meal and acted like it was no big deal. Much better food and service for the price available elsewhere.
Noise level was very calming and quiet. What a wonderful first experience. Jeremy, our waiter, was great! The Blake roll was my favorite!
We eat here alot and have enjoyed many experiences at Izakaya and are thrilled they are in Carbondale. However, this time we had a terrible experience. We were a party of four and one of our group wanted to order an entree just for him, not to share. They served our table about 10 dishes but nothing for the one who had just ordered an entree. We finally asked about it and the server came up with some BS about delays in the kitchen. We waited longer, and after everyone was finished, we asked the server where our friends entree was. I said "I am guessing his order never made it into the kitchen" and he confirmed this was the case. No apology, nothing. Finally after an hour or so, they served our friend. He ate while we just sat there waiting to leave. Just horrible service. Hopefully, this was a one time occurrence, but we will never sit at a table covered by this server.
The place itself is in a great location and looks beautiful on the inside. We were really disappointed with the food. The sushi tasted fishy and the edamame was mushy. Probably won’t go back due to food quality and the price we paid for it.
Change my rating to 5 stars!
Several visits to IzaKaya have had varied results. Sometimes great, sometimes not much better than supermarket sushi as was the case last night when the rolls were almost all rice, almost no fish. Great ambiance and good food if you catch it on the right night.
Food is outstanding. Great and unique menu and pleasant atmosphere. Will definitely go agin and again.
Service was slow. Meals were delivered at all different times so food got cold as we waited. When we brought it up later we were told that food is prepared at different stations so this always happens - why weren’t we told this in advance? We were also disappointed in the small portion sizes for the $ $26 for a 3 oz serving of black cod? $25 for a ribs app? Overall a disappointing experience, tho the drinks were tasty and the ambiance nice.
Izakaya is one of my favorite restaurants in the Valley. The food is very tasty, service is good, although Sushi can be slow, so come with plenty of time. The bar is great too!
It was delicious. Our waiter was very good, solicitous, and fun. Everything worked really well.
This was my first visit. We ordered the Black Cod, the Wagu Beef, Ramen and a noodle dish. All of these dishes were lacking in flavor. The crust on the Black Cod was non-existant...the skin was just a gelatin...whereas the fish was delicious I was really put off by the texture of the skin. One of our party ordered the Wagu Beef and was disappointed in the flavor from the last time she had ordered it. Having said all that, the rolls, yellowtail sashimi serano and the nagiri that we ordered was SUPREME. I would suggest a little work on the entrees. Having lived in Aspen (Kenichi, Matsuhishu and Taka Sushi) I am delighted to have IzaKaya in Carbondale!! I wish you all the best! I will be back!! Thank you! P.S. - Jeremy ROCKS.
