Iza Whiskey & Eats
It has always been a dream of Yung’s to open a small place where the community could relax to an evening of delicious food and fun drinks.
Yungs believes in using fresh ingredients in a simple way so they bring out their own essence. In loving foods from all over the world, he has added a Japanese flare to a simple and healthy menu inspired by his love of eating.
Iza is shorthand for izakaya (居酒屋). The word izakaya first entered the English language in 1987. It is a compound word consisting of i (to stay) and sakaya (sake shop). Izakaya originated from sake shops that
We really enjoyed everything from the cocktails to the appetizers to the entrees. Portions were huge. Service was great too. Highly recommend.
Excellent service, food and drinks were delicious.
I highly recommend this restaurant! The owner came out to clear our table and was incredibly appreciative of our business and informed us of live music and events going on! Amazing food and the cocktails were outstanding. I can’t say enough good things about this place. Come out and support your hem!
Food was delicious and the server was very helpful.
This is an absolutely fantastic restaurant. All of the food was terrific - try the Japanese Fried Chicken and the house made Ramen is a must. We met the chef/owner and he could not have been nicer. I'm even speaking to him this week to potentially do some business together. Iza has changed the footprint of fine casual dining in the Triangle!
Love the food at Iza!
Phenomenal experience! Good and service was exceptional. Chef Young knocked this one out of the park.
The steak was very good. The calamari appetizer was not overcooked. The pork bulgogi was deeply disappointing - nowhere near MinGa or H-Mart. Service was prompt. Staff were nice.
Restaurant had an underlying oder of restroom cleaning products. Wasn't expecting a gigantic TV. Not going back :(
Excellent in every way. Food, service all of the highest quality.
This was one of the best dining experiences my wife and I have had in the triangle. Each course was better than the last.
My favorite restaurant in the Triangle!! The food, drinks, and service are phenomenal!! We drive a long distance to eat here because it is that amazing. I highly recommend this place. You will not regret it.
Food/beverages, wait staff, atmosphere always excellent. Shared several appetizers, then had small plate main courses- wait staff, managers and owner (Yung) always helpful when needed for food/beverage choices. Highly recommend
Fresh sashimi. Loved the special attention from the chef/owner. Liked the inside decor. We didn’t sit outside, too sunny & next to street. We would go back!
Poor service, okay food
Interesting menu, food was good; service just felt a bit rushed.
We were looking for our first dine-in experience since COVID began. We were not disappointed- waiter Ryan was most helpful, other staff helped as well
TVs we’re on and the noise level was high; too hi. This is not the place for a quiet romantic dinner. But we’ll be nay - the food was fabulous. Sunday 7 .11.
Highly recommend the Carolina, 007 and the Firecracker Shrimp. Excellent bourbon selection. Definitely my favorite Sushi restaurant.
Everything we ordered was delicious. Two items were outstanding: the tuna tartare & chips appetizer and the miso-marinated sea bass. Highly recommend!
Great food owner is so kind. Great place to go for your birthday!
Very disappointed had heard good things about this place. Food was not very good and expensive. Service was not good, waited 15 minutes for a glass of wine was done eating and sent it back. Garlic noodles had no pal or and the ramen noodles were overcooked. Would not go back.
Great birthday dinner. Staff was attentive. We had asked when we made reservations for a quiet table on the side and our table was perfect. Food was amazing especially the gyoza which we almost didn’t order because we had some at home. So glad we did because their gyoza was delicious. The meal was perfect. The whiskey flight tasting was great as well.
Glad we dined there and will hopefully go back again
We have been here before, another great meal with great service! The owner makes you feel welcome and appreciates your support.
Looking forward to our next visit, on the patio when it’s cooler!
Delicious food once again. We had the brussel sprouts, gyoza, and firecracker shrimp as appetizers. The brussel sprouts are excellent! I had the beef bulgogi again, and my fiance and daughter had the Carolina roll, the 007 roll, the Alaskan roll, and the Hollywood roll, all amazing. I had the Scotland whisky flight and fiance had the cocktail with vodka, mango, sprite and something else which was super refreshing and light. Always a great experience here!
Food and service were great, but the environment was a lot more casual than I expected
The gyoza were the best I've ever had, and the miso Sea Bass was perfectly cooked (although the miso became a bit overpowering by the end. The Chili Garlic Noodle with shrimp were also a big hit! Service was friendly & efficient.
The flavors of our dishes were outstanding! Will be going back because there were so many dishes we wanted to try.
Fantastic food and service. Chef Yang was super attentive and so was the wait staff.
Great recommendations on food and drinks.
Only setback was the one item we were there for had run out but we will be back due to the great experience!
Wonderful food and service for lunch. Only complaints were that the Reservation system was not working well online and the menu could use a few more tags that would indicate spice level. Not busy when we were there so was very pleasant to eat outside. Well worth the beautifully presented and tasty food!
Great meal, super drinks, a fun indoor
or outdoor spot.
Great food and the service was fine.
The price for appetizers were steep when it didn’t include a lot. Appetizers were more of an amuse bouche.
Large and interesting menu. Lots of whiskey choices as the name implies. We enjoyed every item that our group of four ordered including a calamari appetizer and dessert. The place was full on a Thursday night, so I hope they thrive. We will definitely go back.
While the food and front of house service were excellent, the kitchen gad several misses in timing. It was as though our party was on separate tickets, with one of us receiving each course long before the rest. That said I will return again.
Overall experience was not great. Really expected more from their dishes. Perhaps it is because I tend to frequent more authentic Asian restaurants. The ramen was very disappointing. The noodles were way overcooked and complete mush. Egg was ok, but not soy marinated. Other dishes were so so.
Seems like they were having an off-night. The fryer wasn’t working, which meant many items on the menu weren’t available. Service was slow. Some of the dishes came out a little dirty. Soup arrived lukewarm and had to be reheated and came out towards the end of the meal. The food was delicious and well-flavored though when it arrived.
Really enjoyable dinner. Waitresses are young and earnest, but need more training.
Wow, wow, wow! The best restaurant we've been to in Chapel Hill. My husband got the special 20 oz ribeye with uni butter and chimichuri. Amazing! The steak was cooked perfectly and everything else was amazing. The chef wanted to add some mushrooms, so the waitress asked if it was alright beforehand, and they really made the whole meal perfect. I got the tonkotsu ramen. The best ramen I've ever had! It was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. We also got the Scotland flight and the mango passion cocktail. Would definitely recommend both! Overall, the experience was amazing and everyone was so nice. We loved our waitress. She was so kind and made us feel very welcome. We definitely recommend coming here for your next date night!
Loved the food and cocktails! Will definitely go again
Great people great food love this place!! We drive from Fuquay for this Great food
Only one of the four entrees we ordered were anything special. That was the sea bass. There was over a 10 minute wait for one of our party for his entrée from the time the other three were served and of course the rest of us waited to begin and our food was getting cold. One of the beers on draft was mislabeled. Should have been an IPA but was pale and tasted like a light beer and I have got the IPA many times before at bars and grocery stores and I'm sure this wasn't it. But the bartender wouldn't admit it. Just not worth the money at all.
