Ivy at the Shore
The Ivy’s tropical counterpart Ivy at the Shore offers the same delicious food plus icy island drinks, a 12-seat bamboo bar and surfside view. Don’t miss the sunset over the Pacific with a pineapple daiquiri or two.
So lovely from beginning to end. The atmosphere, the view, the food and decor are sweet and elegant! The Crispy Goat Cheese Filled Zucchini Blossoms are so yummy and the old fashioned red velvet cake is to die for...
We arrived on time for a 7:45pm reservation but they didn't seat us until almost 8:20. They were clearly slammed but the hostess did a poor job at communicating how long the wait would actually be. Finally, they seated us, with no apology for the wait. Everything after that was great.
Unfortunately, we have witnessed a steady decline of this restaurant over the course of the last year and a half. This used to be the spot to be treated with the friendliest of welcomes and the epitome of service and quality food. Before: one was greeted with a complimentary glass of sparkling wine or children a lemonade, the hostess was cheerful and gracious being sure to pull out chairs and wait until seating to pass around menus, the complimentary bread was a wonderful goat cheese garlic bread, dirty dishes were cleared prior to a main course being served and at the end were complimentary cookies. All this warranted the hit priced menu. Today, it is ALL gone. And when we wanted to let management know of the issue with the service declining as well, we were told in an incredibly disrespectful way, they no longer have a manager on the premises and several people including the hostess, who stayed on the phone for several minutes without any acknowledgement of our presence, the bartender and a couple of the servers. Also, when we repeated in astonishment did they really no longer have a manger, the hostess started saying 'Stop yelling at me." All we did was ask a question and reflect back to her what she said. My how the great have fallen. We thought we'd give it another chance and could not be more disappointed. They are riding on the reputation of their long gone past and it's very sad. We instead ended up at the Waldorf Astoria which was incredibly wonderful.
Excellent food, can’t wait to visit again soon
Birthday trip to Santa Monica
It’s a little pricey but the food ambiance and the service is great
We sat for 20 minutes without water or drinks ... I had been here before and loved it. This time we had a bad experience. Wouldn’t go back. Sad ...
I was very disappointed with our brunch at Ivy at the shore. It is always been one of our favorite restaurants and it seems it’s standards are slipping.
The food was so-so are, we had lobster scrambled eggs that were allegedly soft scrambled eggs, but they were hard as rocks .
apparently the waiter and the chef don’t read the menu and I was very displeased with spending $49 for scrambled eggs. They discontinued The marvelous chocolate chip cookies for dessert and the champagne on arrival. They have re-done the bar area so it looks like a cheap bistro and send of a comfortable place to lounge before a meal it’ll be a while before we go back.
This was the perfect place to have my birthday brunch and I am so grateful for such a wonderful experience!
Had dinner with a date. Loud, food was not great and service was poor.
Enjoyed our experience!
A fantastic experience! The food was divine, the atmosphere, perfect, and the service was impeccable!
Time for an update if you’re going to charge those prices. I first visited over 10 years ago and not much has changed over the years except price increases.
My wife and I have made a habit of always ending our SO CAL visits by having a long relaxing lunch at Ivy before we fly away out of LAX back to TX. This was our 3rd such visit in the last 1 year and we will hopefully, be continuing this tradition for years to come!
Always outstanding. I've been coming to the Ivy for years and it never disappoints! Every meal!
They stopped serving champagne and giving cookies at the end! Total let down/ must be cutting costs?
Met a friend for brunch. It was a nice atmosphere and the food was delicious.
Wonderful meal. Although we amissed the champagne greeting and the chocolate chip cookie. Signatures of the Ivy at the Ashlee experience
We've ordered a seafood plate and there was really no taste, and it's very expensive for what we got
Very frankly just a bit disappointed in the service this time. The two of us were seated at a table for four, and they never did clear the settings for the other two locations and did not turn the bread plates over (from being upside down). Secondly, we continually had to pour additional water from our bottled water, no one really tended to that.
Minor things maybe, but for a restaurant of this level, seems the service was just a bit off.
Poor service by the greeter. Food has gone down hill.
Would not recommend.
Great food and excellent service. A little pricy for value.
We love to go to the Ivy when visiting LA. The Santa Monica location does not deliver the same level of service. I would not return to this location.
Wonderful setting. Decor makes you feel like you are in another country. Not even aware of traffic both pedestrian and auto outside. Food choices are delightful. Service excellent.
It is such a classy, deservedly longtime successful establishment. Many lovely memories here for me and my family. I’m always grateful to have an opportunity to come back and visit.
We frequent Ivy at the Shore. About 2 months ago we dined here and noticed some major changes. No Champagne upon arrival. No cookies upon departure. Less roses. And a much reduced menu. But we had terrible service too. This past week we took a chance and went back because we absolutely love love their grilled vegetable salad and we had an incredible experience once again. We have no problem with the elimination of the champagne and cookies, we completely understand and it is unnecessary. But what makes Ivy the Ivy are the roses, the food quality and the service. At our most recent visit we had incredible service, it was amazing. The food was incredible, we are vegan and love the grilled salad, guacamole, and tortillas. The atmosphere is also stellar. We are still disappointed about the reduced amount of roses. I think this would be worth spending the money on as it sets it apart from all the other restaurant options in LA.
Great food and great atmosphere. Liked that we could book a table online too
I always like going to this reatraunt and try something new. The staff and food is amazing. It’s always an expierience
Delicious food, great service. However, I do miss the complimentary chocolate chip cookies and champagne!
A reminder that Ivy at the Shore still provides a wonderful dinner venue with a great view of Ocean Boulevard and the Santa Monica pier, along with good food and great ambiance. A bit on the expensive side, but worth it.
Disappointed that we did not get champagne or cookies as is typical
Amazing. The best. 👍🏼
We have been dining at the Ivy at the Shore, from it’s beginning. We dine there for everyday meals & special occasions. We have hosted several la parties there too.
I don’t know what has happened?
the food was overall bland...
And the new vases with the beautiful roses are too tall.
The dinner was perfect
Dessert was over done and could be better
I've always loved it there and still do. Of course it's expensive but you know that going in. It's an experience. So romantic and food was great. Waiter was also great.
Food was fine not great and pretty expensive. Service was horrendous- overall just bad. Wouldn't go again and wouldn't recommend.
The Ivy’s food and drinks are absolutely delicious! The restaurant has a beautiful ambiance and cozy feel. Service is a little slow but overall a good experience!
Food/ drinks and service are all amazing— great place for a family meal.
Beautiful restaurantant and great food! You have to try their scones
Awesome as always. Service and food exceptional.
