Ivy at the Shore Ratings and Reviews
I've been dining at Ivy at the Shore for as long as it's been open! The consistency in service, good cheer, tastes and preparation can be counted on...no matter how many weeks or months transpire. From that first gratis glass of champagne to the festive and GENEROUS birthday celebration dessert, this is a great experience!
Ivy at the Shore is a classic. Great place to take out of towners. We had lunch on the patio which was perfect for people watching on a beautiful day. Service was outstanding and the food was delicious. People should know it’s expensive, but it’s a nice treat. Who doesn’t like free chocolate cookies!
Sunday brunch the only good things were the cocktails and the scones. The crab salad was mostly lettuce - no flavor, very little crab. The dressing was not a typical thousand island it was too spicy and loaded with garlic.
I sent it back and ordered the swordfish. It was chewy and without flavor.
I didn't eat it ....instead ordered another plate of scones. Very disappointing. Would not go back - it's the second time in a row that I have had a bad meal at the Ivy.
Something has happened? It used to always be good and dependable. Not anymore.
We were rushed through thanksgiving dinner by over zealous bus boys, you practically have to hold your plate to keep it. The food was nice, the ambience pleasant, if a little loud and our waiter was very attentive.
However, for these prices I expect better service - $350 for 2 for a three course meal including a $65 wine. For example, you get cheap cutlery wrapped in a napkin, no explanation of what the food actually is when it arrives and the aggressive table clearing. This is not European level of service, it reminded me of Vegas, reasonable food with poor service and inflated prices.
Maybe it was just because it was a holiday.
I loved this restaurant from the moment I walked in. There were roses everywhere! We were greeted warmly with the offer of complimentary champagne. Our servers were all very knowledgeable and friendly. We met friends and we could actually hear each other without a problem. The food was good, not great and it was expensive. I would definitely go back, not frequently because of the price, but for a special occasion or to impress out of town guests : )
Celebrated our Anniversary with 9am Brunch on a Sat. Great table in Atrium - Service was very warming and friendly. Nice touch of free champagne from the Waiter. First time I ever had a whole lobster scramble. It was worth the cost !
Great fresh scones were offered as well. Delicious all around!
Thanks to staff for a great celebration experience.
Ivy at the Shore is a lovely restaurant, great service, food always good but it is ridiculously over-priced, with entrees costing $40+ and not THAT amazing. I took 4 people as a special occasion but it will be a long time before I go again, given that for 5 people the bill was $500.
We ordered the burratta & beet salad to start. Unfortunately, the burratta was bitter & "off". Our wonderful waiter offered us a substitute & removed it from our bill. The service is always extraordinary at the Ivy.
It's definitely gotten very pricey over the years. I will probably just visit for a very special date.
The Hot Fudge & Butterscotch sundae was divine.
Continue to appreciate this Ivy more and more over the one on Robertson which is filled with tourists and a few industry people - the Ivy at the Shore is less noisy, the service is great and the menu is always chock full of flavorful dishes
This store is far more comfortable then Robertson where tables are so close you feel like you involved in two conversations!
Try the chicken, fresh fish and Risoto plus the best Coconut Cake in town! I’m a local and this is my casual restaurant with The Sunset Tower my favorite for more formal nights with friends and clients.
We love to come to Ivy to celebrate girlfriends birthdays! They do such a good job being attentive and we love the offer of champagne when you get there as well as the sparkler
for the desert! We always order the grilled vegetable salad with chicken or shrimp and
the brown bread is the best!
This was an adult Birthday celebration. Lunch was out of this world expensive. A Crab Salad for $32.95 was a lettuce mix topped with crab - not a salad. Similarly, other salads that were more expensive were lots of lettuces topped with shrimp or chicken. The problem for us and others is that it was impossible to visit because this restaurant is so noisy with no noise abatement measures. Bread was ordinary wheat. We left because we couldn't hear one another - very disappointing. We won't make this mistake again!
Heard that the restaurant was a luxury who's who with really great asthetics. The reception and customer service was top notch. The aesthetics could habe been better. I expected luxury, but things appeared to need upgrades (cheap chairs, rocky tables, bad floors, cheesy restroom). Food was great, but not exceptional for the prices. Seemed like any coastal cafe.
