Always delicious, fun, and expensive but worth it!
The food is good but very expensive. We eat a lot in the Santa Monica area and the food costs more than most high end restaurants. We had to ask the service help to turn down the bar music because it was blaring. The decor is classic and help is generally good but not worth the price.
Sat us 45 minutes late clearly caters to locals
Not worth the $$
Too dark, too noisy and overpriced
Everything was outstanding, service, food, atmosphere, a free glass of champagne, free cookies etc. But not cheap.
This visit to the Ivy at the Shore was our families splurge and special dining event for our vacation. We have visited The Ivy before and loved it so much. This visit to the The Ivy at the Shore was horrible. Service was down right pathetic. I get better service at McDonalds. After several times complaining for water refill they did not correct the situation and start getting us better service. We didn’t receive our bar drink orders until after our food arrived and when we asked they weren’t even apologetic. Absolutely worst experience ever.
Delightfully charming, cheerful, almost feminine. Packed with roses, waiters in pink with floral ties, it was entirely an analog experience. Noone was on their phone. Everyone was engaged. A softly lit environment with some outdoor seating. The food was delicious and the service warm and appropriately timed. Everyone seemed to be enjoying one another.
Food came too fast ( it must have been Pre-cooked)
Onion rings had thick batter dripping w/ grease but were cold
Wines by the glass were like what you find at Appleby’s
Crab salad was all cartilage
Prices were insanely high
While the food was decent, it’s way over priced for what it is and the level of service received. I did not feel our waiter was attentive and to make matters worse, there was a family with small children who were allowing them to run around the patio disturbing other guests! At a restaurant that charges $70 for a steak, this should not occur. I do understand this is not the fault of the restaurant itself....until the waiter (who was also our table’s) began playing with them and chasing them! Extremely unprofessional from wait staff at any restaurant. As a result of this, it took him almost 40 mins AFTER our appetizer order, and finishing it for him to take our main course order! Absolutely ridiculous. Go somewhere else if you want a nice dinner.
We came here for my birthday and had a lovely breakfast. Delicious scones are given to everyone upon sitting - sweet touch. Coffee was great! Food portions are huge so the cost is well worth it. They made it extra special, too, by bringing a fun birthday dessert platter at the end in celebration of my birthday, which I totally wasn’t expecting. A wonderful start to the day!!
Wonderful Sunday Brunch with friends. Crab Eggs Benedict was delicious!
The ambience is beautiful. The food is terrible. The chef needs and update. Very expensive.
visited this place a few times thruout the yr and it was one of the worst visits... the hostess was not prepared and unwelcoming... it was very disappointing.
Excellent food and waitress are the best
Wonderful but too loud.
The waiter was the best part, food was terrible based on the taste & prices. Spend over $500 for a party of of five and with 1 exceptions all the food was below par. I could have gotten a better meal at half the price. Nice touch to get a glass of sparking when they sat us down but down hill after that!
Great spot when you want to splurge. Love all the roses, bright and cheery! You are well taken care of with Scones and Champagne, but you pay for it in high food prices, but so what. It's a fun place, with a great patio and you are protected from the riff raff across the street at the park. This is a fun place if you have a special occasion.
Excellent service & excellent food. Offered complimentary glass of champagne while I waited for my other party and then sent us home with cookies.
We haven't dined at Ivy's since we moved out of state 20 years ago so I picked the restaurant to meet up with friends flying in from Vancouver. Our reservation was for 12:45 pm but our friends' flight was delayed for a couple of hours. The staff were so gracious to let us wait by the bar and then assigned us the best table on the patio. The food was as good as ever, the service was impeccable, and the ambience contributed to the perfect start for our friend's birthday celebration.
Big thanks to the staff at Ivy's who were there on Saturday, Feb 24th.
Saturday Brunch. Of course they were busy; the waitstaff missed details. It took until the meal was nearly over to get the salsa ordered with the meal
Ivy at the Shore is an iconic LA landmark. From the complementary glass of champagne the moment you walk in to the warm chocolate chip cookies as you Leave, Ivy is pure class. The beets and burrata starter is delicious. And the shrimp tacos are the best ever.
Every visit to LA includes dinner or lunch at Ivy on the Shore. The service is impeccable and the food never disappoints. The atmosphere is in comparable :) favorite restaurant in Santa Monica!
Overpriced for bad food. I won’t go back.
Excellent service but food was totally overrated.
The Ivy at the Shore is not what it used to be.... what a shame!
Food and the service was sub par.
It’s a fun & lively scene and the variety of dishes adds to the pleasure. You’ll pay for it!
Pricey but lovely. Excellent service!
This is truly fabulous restaurant with great food, outstanding service and fantastic location. We couldn't wish for anything better to celebrate our special occasion.
Great the hostess was great
Pretty much our favorite when in Santa Monica. Large menu with a full page of special editions every day. We have dined here for over 10 years when visiting the area. Consistently great food and fast friendly service. Occasionally we see a celebrity just like the main Ivy in Beverly Hills. It’s a must go to spot when in SoCal.
Most reliably great restaurant in town.
Beautiful restaurant, beautiful flowers. Service was great & food was delish.
This is one of the best restaurants in town. It is pricey however. The restaurant has energy and a buzz and caters to people who want the best in dining and service. Great for dates, special occasion or business dinner with clients who expect a fine experience. I have lived in Santa Monica for 20 years and the restaurant is still the top handful of places to dine in the area.
Great place for special occasions and esp. for Valentine's Day!
We had a great time! Lots of amazing flowers, comp champagne and cookies for Valentines' and the food was simple and very fresh!
Great for groups, special occasions, people watching, everyday dining as well as weekends!
Our table was really bad
VALENTINE'S DAY REDUX
A few years ago I went to the IVY by the SHORE for Valentine's Day. While the food was great, they were over crowded and we were not seated until 45 minutes after our confirmed reservation. And where we were seated was packed in with tables literally on top of each other and very loud.......THAT WAS THEN........THIS IS NOW: Years later I decided to give them another try along with the love of my life who I have been seeing for the last two and a half years. When I was called to reconfirm my reservation I called back and I shared my previous experience with them with a voice mail message. So when we arrived this past Valentine's Day to the same overly packed, loud room I was still hopeful this would be different. Then Robin the hostess told us that they were running 15 minutes behind because of a traffic mishap earlier on the Santa Monica freeway that had thrown the evening off. In the nicest way possible I told Robin that while I appreciated the excuse this really seemed like the IVY by the SHORE approach to Valentine's Day. I then explained my entire story about the past visit and my phone message. 20 plus minutes went by and the two glasses each of complimentary champagne eased the wait. Then Robin came over to get us and took us to the tables in the beautiful front section of the restaurant. And put us in the most private, quiet area at a four top where we could have more room and a lovely romantic view of the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel at night with its beautiful heart shaped graphics. I thanked Robin for the lovely table and she said it was the least she could do to be sure we really did not have another less than lovely experience at The IVY by the SHORE on Valentine's Day. 5 stars for the evening and 10 stars for Robin saving the night!!!!!!
Delicious Valentine’s Day dinner at Ivy at the Shore! We enjoyed tasty cocktails, goat cheese stuffed zucchini blossoms, tagliatelle with lobster and branzino with white beans and sautéed greens. Absolutely wonderful time!
Always lovely. Great place to dine with your loved ones and friends.
A very busy Valentine's Day evening and the staff did a great job getting us seated quickly. Great food!
