Every visit to LA includes dinner or lunch at Ivy on the Shore. The service is impeccable and the food never disappoints. The atmosphere is in comparable :) favorite restaurant in Santa Monica!
Overpriced for bad food. I won’t go back.
Excellent service but food was totally overrated.
The Ivy at the Shore is not what it used to be.... what a shame!
Food and the service was sub par.
It’s a fun & lively scene and the variety of dishes adds to the pleasure. You’ll pay for it!
Pricey but lovely. Excellent service!
Great the hostess was great
Pretty much our favorite when in Santa Monica. Large menu with a full page of special editions every day. We have dined here for over 10 years when visiting the area. Consistently great food and fast friendly service. Occasionally we see a celebrity just like the main Ivy in Beverly Hills. It’s a must go to spot when in SoCal.
Most reliably great restaurant in town.
This is one of the best restaurants in town. It is pricey however. The restaurant has energy and a buzz and caters to people who want the best in dining and service. Great for dates, special occasion or business dinner with clients who expect a fine experience. I have lived in Santa Monica for 20 years and the restaurant is still the top handful of places to dine in the area.
Great place for special occasions and esp. for Valentine's Day!
We had a great time! Lots of amazing flowers, comp champagne and cookies for Valentines' and the food was simple and very fresh!
Great for groups, special occasions, people watching, everyday dining as well as weekends!
Our table was really bad
VALENTINE'S DAY REDUX
A few years ago I went to the IVY by the SHORE for Valentine's Day. While the food was great, they were over crowded and we were not seated until 45 minutes after our confirmed reservation. And where we were seated was packed in with tables literally on top of each other and very loud.......THAT WAS THEN........THIS IS NOW: Years later I decided to give them another try along with the love of my life who I have been seeing for the last two and a half years. When I was called to reconfirm my reservation I called back and I shared my previous experience with them with a voice mail message. So when we arrived this past Valentine's Day to the same overly packed, loud room I was still hopeful this would be different. Then Robin the hostess told us that they were running 15 minutes behind because of a traffic mishap earlier on the Santa Monica freeway that had thrown the evening off. In the nicest way possible I told Robin that while I appreciated the excuse this really seemed like the IVY by the SHORE approach to Valentine's Day. I then explained my entire story about the past visit and my phone message. 20 plus minutes went by and the two glasses each of complimentary champagne eased the wait. Then Robin came over to get us and took us to the tables in the beautiful front section of the restaurant. And put us in the most private, quiet area at a four top where we could have more room and a lovely romantic view of the Santa Monica Pier Ferris Wheel at night with its beautiful heart shaped graphics. I thanked Robin for the lovely table and she said it was the least she could do to be sure we really did not have another less than lovely experience at The IVY by the SHORE on Valentine's Day. 5 stars for the evening and 10 stars for Robin saving the night!!!!!!
Delicious Valentine’s Day dinner at Ivy at the Shore! We enjoyed tasty cocktails, goat cheese stuffed zucchini blossoms, tagliatelle with lobster and branzino with white beans and sautéed greens. Absolutely wonderful time!
Always lovely. Great place to dine with your loved ones and friends.
A very busy Valentine's Day evening and the staff did a great job getting us seated quickly. Great food!
The Ivy is always great. Service is always top notch, food is excellent.
My husband and I have always loved the Ivy at the Shore until this past Valentine's Day.
We go there every year for Valentine's and more often because we love the ambiance, food and we live in Santa Monica. This Valentine's Day however was the worst experience we have EVER had and we didn't leave a tip because of it. Your waiter "Javier" was SO RUDE to us after we were given boiling water as we requested by a bus boy for digestive tea we drink after dinner.
He made us change the cups we brought to plain white Ivy cups (same as what we had-just not plain white) and we were told we were not allowed to bring or drink our teas unless we got up and went to the bar area.
Needless to say, NOT the kind of treatment I EVER expected at The Ivy at the Shore.
We felt SO BAD we are reconsidering our love of this place. Wow! I am still really shocked at the treatment we received and NEVER an apology.
So sorry to give you this review but we were really upset.
What a wonderful experience. I used it to come here years ago on a regular basis. I moved away and returned very happy to see that they continued with my old favorites that only The Ivy has. The whole menu and our food was delicious. Love the decor and ambience.
The interior of this restaurant is beautiful - fresh flowers and beautiful decor everywhere. The service is excellent as well. My cobb salad was ok - nothing special and I've had better elsewhere. Not good for $30!! The desserts were excellent though! We had the apple tartine and a cobbler with vanilla ice cream. Both - so delicious!
