It was my birthday and the last meal I had before the second Stay at Home order. It was great food and excellent service. A nice memory to hold onto until we can all gather in person again.
Food was excellent my waitress was very busy but very nice I love the margaritas
My wife and I have been having lunch here once a week for the past month. We brought 2 friends this last time. We love the food--and they did, too. The service is attentive, the value is exceptional. Lots of outdoor tables. We're hoping they are able to hang on during the pandemic because this is a place where we'd like to eat for years to come. A great local restaurant.
Nice outdoor atmosphere, menu and food quality at this new Italian in the Gilman District. Worth a visit especially on a sunny day to take advantage of the sun, friendly service and good food.
Food and service were excellent! We liked the music too. The wobbly table was our only issue. It was the perfect place for our celebration.
The food tastes delicious. The staff is professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and Coiv19 prepared. The specials are my favorite and Italy on Gilman has become my go-to place for my favorite guests and close friends. The deserts are perfect after a delicious meal.
It was a perfect day for outdoor dining. We went expecting to have brunch, but the brunch menu has been discontinued for now. We shared the beet and mango salad, a calzone and a pizza, also 2 desserts. Everything was delicious! The desserts were incredible! My only minor criticism was that our server was wearing an obnoxious amount of fragrance.
I’ve been to Italy on Gilman 3 times now and the food has all been outstanding. I’d like to try everything on the menu!
We felt very COVID safe at the upstairs outdoor dining, and comfortable with the heat lamps. Service was friendly and well paced, and the food was good and plentiful. Desserts were excellent!
Good variety and quality. COVID distancing. Nice tables on balcony.
Tried it for the first time and will certainly come again. Friendly and knowledgable staff. Food was perfectly cooked and flavourful. Very good options on the desserts. Really had a good time with my family .
Absolutely delicious and delightful. The clams were to die for - perfect in a buttery lemony brig that I could just stopped there and bee fully satisfied. But we continued with the bruschetta on perfect toast. The cheese platter outstanding but the perfect piece was he lobster ravioli. OMG. This place totally exceeded my expectations. I would highly recommend.
What a treat to be able to discover this restaurant and sample their amazing food. We had the bistecca, scampi di gamberetti as well as the mozzarella caprese and fritto misto. Everything was prepared to perfection. The prices were reasonable. Really... 5 stars all around. Hope to return soon.
Airy with tables spaced out in a big place, the food was delicious.
It has become my favorite Italian restaurant in this area. I cannot say enough. I have written previous reviews on it.
The drinks and food were delicious. The ambience was a little cold as windows and doors were kept open (due to COVID restrictions) and a cold front moving through the Bay Area.
Great food, welcoming service, friendly staff. We go there often.
This has become my favorite Italian restaurant in the area. I have now gone two weekends in a row and they have a very safe protocol with plenty of spacing and open doors. Both guests that I have taken have raved about the food. I will continue going to keep on trying different items on the menu. So far I have had the veal marsala and the ravioli stuffed with lobster and a Caesar salad. Everything is excellent. Combine that with outstanding service from Emmanuel and you have a perfect experience. I will try going to dinner sometime since I’ve only done lunch. I recommend it one hundred percent.
Appetizers were delicious. Main dishes were just ok. Waiter was not as attentive and we had to wave him down. I asked for peppers and did not receive them. Cocktails and Drinks came after food came. Ordered that at the same time. Great ambiance and location but the staff needs to be more attentive. Probably won’t be coming back.
FANTASTIC!!!! Everything was great. The risotto di fungi was to die for.
The ciopinno was full of mussels, clams, mussels, salmon, and crab. The broth was tasty. The rib eye steak was cooked perfectly. We sat outside on the upstairs balcony. It was a beautiful, sunny day. The server was excellent. The music was eclectic. Parking was easy. There's a lot and plenty of street parking too.
Excellent in every way, from starters to espresso. Superb veal marsala and lobster ravioli, great cocktails, impeccable service, nice COVID-safe seating.
Very good food and excellent wine list. Service was spot-on. Always enjoyed this venue, even in its past incarnations. I really hope that this place makes it!
We enjoyed it and will be back.
Good food, loved the lava cake.
Tables spaced for covid.
Food came out pretty fast but only a couple of tables during my time there.
Overall enjoyable experience. Food was really good. They were just a bit short staffed. Could have used a few more servers. I will definitely be back!
On a sunny afternoon, with lots of ventilation and less than half capacity, the ambiance was lovely and we felt very (COVID) safe. The food was good, although the bruschetta was a little flat and didn't come up to the standard we are used to. Our server was nice but didn't anticipate anything. We had to keep asking, like for pepper. But over all, it was good and we will definitely go back.
I dined here a month ago and was pleased with the service and food. My most recent experience wasn’t as pleasureable. I made the reservation through Open Table. I indicated on the reservation that it was a birthday celebration. After finishing dinner, I reminded the waitress that we were celebrating a friend’s birthday and I requested a complimentary dessert. She said they don’t provide complimentary desserts for birthdays. When I expressed my extreme surprise, she said she would ask the manger to honor my request. She later informed me the manager had left. During the wait for her to give me an answer, I went to the ladies room. As I walked into the sink area of the bathroom there was a woman, shoeless, who appeared to be homeless. She was “cleaning up.” I’m empathetic towards the homeless, however, this wasn’t a situation, especially with COVID, I wanted to expose myself to. I advised a server of the situation. We all went back to the restroom and the woman was in the single toilet room. The door was locked. When the hostess knocked on the door twice and told her to open the door, there was no response. Nothing more was done regarding the homeless woman using the facilities. I saw the woman leave the restroom and walk out of the restaurant. Addiitonally, the normal service for water and other items was poor to average. I enjoyed the food but based on my most recent experience, I doubt I would dine here again.
Lovely ambience, open air with big windows. Food was yummy.
Good service. Food was good, not great. Caprese salad - tomato was firm but tasteless. There was no basil on it. Cioppino was good - lots of seafood - but squid was chewy. Pork tortellini very good. Tiramisu ok, not great. No decaf coffee available, even as an Americano.
The food was outstanding which is the most important aspect for me. The service was a little slow because the waiter was over-stretched, I believe. They have added many tables outside and it was a beautiful day.
Our reservation was supposed to be for outside dining. I guess they decided to put us inside after inside service was restored last week. However it was NOT limited to 25% occupancy, more like 75% occupancy with several tables of 8-10 people, most without masks and many small children running around the upstairs which happened to be right by our table. The food was wonderful, I just wish I could have felt more comfortable.
Food was fantastic but the service was bad.
Food and service were really exceptional!! Will definitely be returning!
It was great to get out, eat outside, and have things I don’t cook! The food was good, but unexceptional. My husband had a really good veal marsala, and we both liked the frito misto. The service was generally fine if a little slow, but it was so nice to be on the balcony outside, we didn’t care.
In all, it was a good way to have a nice meal.
Everyone was very nice and the service was great. The food smelled and looked amazing. I would definitely come back to try the rest of the dishes!
I really enjoyed the food. Very well done. Highly recommend.
In these days of Covid, it's wonderful to be able to eat on a lovely patio. Overall the food was uneven. While my meal, chicken piccata, was very good, my husband's pasta was sticky and poorly cooked. The service was good, and the staff were friendly.
Staff was nice. Waiter forgot drinks, but no big deal. All staff looked crisp and clean in uniform. One gentlemen was wearing a ball cap, t-shirt, sweats and sneakers. Who ever this person was took the experience down a level. You looked like you just came from the gym.
During the pandemic, we didn't know what to expect. We were pleasantly surprised they were offering indoor seating which we appreciated on this very warm day (and the outside chairs were metal). We were on the second level and the music was really loud because the speaker was up there and we assumed was so loud so it could be heard downstairs. The service was a little slow for so few diners in the restaurant but the food was great and the server was very pleasant. We will be back.
Fabulous evening sitting outside on the balcony. Food was fabulous. We tried multiple delicious seafood dishes and were delighted by an amazing coconut pie which our waitress said was her favorite. All good here and the indoor seating is very well spread out and nice ambiance.
