I recently moved to Condado from New York and am a huge Sushi and Sashimi fan. I enjoy a delicious Omakase meal. Unfortunately, this restaurant misses the mark by a mile.
I have eaten here twice but I’m now done with it. The first time was just decent with terrible service and egregiously over priced for the quality. The second time, and the reason I am posting my first review, the food was terrible, the service was just as bad as the food, (It should be noted that at both meals I’ve had at the restaurant the waitresses brought out only one omakase for the table instead of an omakase for each personal at table. Can you imagine?!?!? The first meal I was on a date with my wife and the second time I took my son and a good friend because every other restaurant was booked on a Saturday night) and the bill for three people was over $600 for sushi that tasted like it was purchased at a supermarket. Certainly not a restaurant. This place is a tourist trap and not worth going to even if it was a third of the price. Stay away from the this restaurant unless you love meals that are grossly overpriced and of below average quality/taste and terrible service. Paul
He visited us in 10/2020 - ordered two 10 piece Omakase. Informed staff he was extremely satisfied with food & service. Visited again in 03/2021. Ordered one 10 piece Omakase. Devoured all 10 pieces. Guest then ordered two additional 10 piece Omakase. Devoured all 20 pieces. He then ordered several pieces of Hokkaido Uni. Devoured all those. For service & food that, according to this guest, was terrible, we are at a loss as to why he returned, or why he re-ordered the same food many times over.
One of the best sushi restaurants in Puerto Rico, owner was present and attentive. Staff is knowledgeable and the quality of the fish was great. We will be back.
Service was awesome and sushi was great!
By far the best sushi (and we know good sushi from NY to CA)!! Crystal was amazing and the owner was very kind. Must try the yellowtail pepper appetizer!! We will be back on our next trip!
Worst food and service we had in Puerto Rico. Definitely expected better. Honestly there was nothing good about it.
This guest ordered four items; spring rolls, steamed dumplings, shrimp tempura maki and king salmon nigiri. Guest indicated to server that she was very happy and left a 20% tip. This is in complete contrast to her review here.
It was fantastic to find so many of my favorite fish from Tokyo here on the island - this was my first time back in 7+ years, and the last time I was here the sushi options were... much much less sophisticated. Prices are a little high but generally fair for the quality and source of the fish. Bluefin was excellent quality. Sayori, kamasu, gindara, saba all also particularly excellent. Decent sake options as well. There are a la carte options too for the more budget oriented diner. I’m looking forward to returning.
Sushi was fresh!!
Really excellent service! Food was just ok. As a regular sushi eater, I wouldn’t recommend it over other good sushi restaurants in the area (even if they fly in their fish), but our waitress was really lovely! If you order crab, it might be imitation crab so I recommend asking first.
The sushi was amazing and fresh coming from New Yorkers!! Sushi prices are well worth it, sake was a bit pricey-but overall a great experience. Staff was helpful and kind. Would go back!!
Food was good, but service was great!
Excellent Sushi
This is a fantastic sushi restaurant. They import their fish from Japan so their selections are unique. Highly recommended.
Was really great!!! Service was awesome sushi just as great!!
Our server, Arturo, suggested we try the 20 piece Omakase along with a great Dassai sake. There were two pieces each of all fresh: bluefin otoro and akami, king salmon and king salmon belly, hamachi, aji, sayori, kamasu, Hokkaido uni and Hokkaido scallop. The rice was perfect. The fish was so fresh. The uni was super creamy and both the otoro and king salmon belly were ultra rich. The Dassai sake was absolutely perfect for this meal. Service was excellent. We would definitely return here.
Yashira was my server and was very attentive. I had the Japanese Beef (Kobe) appetizer. It was melt in your mouth delicious. Since I was sitting at the sushi bar, I also had the chef recommend some great sashimi, all of which was very fresh. I would definitely return here.
I had an amazing meal here. The service provided by Lauren was outstanding. Some of the best sushi I've ever had. I highly recommend you visit when you are in the Condado area of San Juan, you will not be disappointed!
The service from the female server was excellent, the quality of the sushi was fresh, however the prices were extremely high which was fine since we chose to dine here. Apparently the Blue Fin Tuna was shipped from Japan so we decided to try it. It was okay. My standards are high after having years of amazing sushi/sashimi from Vancouver Canada. The 3 piece Trio Sampler of Blue Fin Tuna Sushi was $40. We also ordered a salmon roll it arrived with a very small amount of salmon.
Furthermore, to our surprise, an 18% service charge was automatically added to our bill even though there were only two of us.
We made a reservation through Open Table. Open Table sent me an email letting me know that the owner (who also served us one dish) marked us as a "NO SHOW". Now I wonder if the restaurant had to pay an extra fee to Open Table when we accumulated 1000 points for our reservation. I believe in ethical conduct when it comes to making reservations. I was disappointed that the owner would do this but overall happy with Open Table's policies.
Food very good but pricey you need to pay attention to the bill as I was charge a tip plus a service charge and have to return to get a refund. They will not accept open table reward certificate event though it was listed as one of the few restaurants that do
No visible sushi chef
Fish was warm
:(
Never will return !
Food was outstanding but arrived at different times. Servers were very pleasant.
Amazing sashimi, huge variety to choose from. Don't leave without trying their signature fish only bluefin rolls.
I was staying at the Marriott down the block and was in the mood for sushi. What a find. The food and service were spectacular. This restaurant seems to fly in fresh fish from Japan a couple of times a week. I would highly recommend the bluefin tuna trio sushi. It melts in your mouth.
We are sushi foodies and this place really surprised us. Not fancy on the outside, but the food is all it takes. Fresh fish that it’s obvious by its color and texture. The variety of rolls is broad. From basic, to innovative ones. Owner all came out to greet.
The sushi here was amazing. The fish was so fresh and the selection was great. They have the best Sushi probably because they imported from Japan. The way the food was prepared and displayed made you want to eat it right away. We orderd a huge plater with all the bluefin tuna. So worth it. We also ordered the Kobe beef. It is the most amazing tasting beef ever. Now that is real Kobe beef. It wasn’t the cheapest place but for the freshest and the best sushi it’s worth it. The service was great and the menu iPad made it really easy to order and helpful because there was a picture for each item. The only bad thing is its hard to find parking so you will have to pay to park in the ramp.
Having checked out their menu online, I was skeptical but intrigued. In short, I was blown away by the variety of fresh Japanese fish on their menu... would never have expected this in Puerto Rico of all places. I ordered off their omakase menu and all was amazing, but the otoro and Hokkaido Uni were spectacular. Service was very good. If you are looking for sushi in Puerto Rico, look no further.
The food was highly to below average for the extreme price point. $600 for four people is completely ridiculous. I would not return.
We fly in fresh fish & beef from Tokyo to Puerto Rico twice per week. We source the highest quality, as is found at top omakase restaurants in New York & L.A. They consumed sparkling Japanese sake, A5/BMS12 Miyazaki ("Kobe") beef, 9 pieces of prized bluefin otoro, Hokkaido scallops, multiple hot sakes & much more. All prices are clearly listed on our menus. They finished all food & informed their server that they were pleased and left 20% gratuity. These actions do not match their posted review.
Excellent location in Condado area close to popular hotels and other restaurants.
We visited for lunch. We were 1 of 2 tables occupied.
Very good selection in the food menu and great selection of Sakes on the drink list. The sushi and sashimi we ordered was fresh and very good. My overall rating takes into consideration that the server was not well informed on the available fish selections and did not offer to inquire from the Chef. The place was empty so it was an easy task. perhaps new employee.
Great for a supermarket sushi
You said it was fresh and it was horrible, the food was gross
The first situation that upset a bit was the fact that I had made a reservation, but it really didn't make a difference because the waiters/waitresses were unaware. Why give the option to reserve if it isn't really done? The waitress sat us 5 in a table for 4. It was a bit uncomfortable. Food was served quickly except for mine. My friends really enjoyed their sushi. My food was good but because it was not hot enough, and it kind of needed to be in order for the plate to be at its best, it pretty much ruined it for me. It was a noodle plate and the heat of the meat was necessary. The waitress service, I do have to say was excellent! She was very patient and went over the menu with us. Overall it wasn't a bad place I was just dissapointed with my plate, which by the way, was the most expensive and last to be served! 😡 Although on a positive note, the girls did enjoy their sushi and rice. We also enjoyed the warm Sake.
Excellent fresh sushi! Especially loved the King Salmon belly fat and the Otoro. Loved how you can make your own roll
An extraordinary overall experience!
Call out to Beatrice(i think that was her name) and one of the waiter's. We had the best time ever. They where hilarious to the point that half of my experience was laughing and enjoying the amazing fresh sushi. Recommend full.
The food was surprisingly great. Fish was very fresh. Staff is also nice. The restaurant doesn’t have much ambiance. And ordering on iPads is a little annoying.
Great place to eat! Wonderful Sushi and other dishes. Little bit noisy on street but great overall.
Fresh fish flown in twice per week (Tuesday and Friday). Huge menu plus ability to create your own rolls. Tablet at each table makes viewing of all menu items and ordering simple. Great flavor, service, and value.
Sushi was ample, fresh & delicious. Ambiance warm and service excellent.
Best Sushi on the island by Far! Service was amazing and the food was unreal. Only sushi place we will go to on the island.
excellent service and the food was fantastic. The waiter was extremely helpful and made great suggestions.
Only person in there for most of the visit. Good food, very attentive staff.
