Istanbul Kebab House
We are family owned and operated since 2012.
The name of our restaurant, Istanbul Kebab House, magnificently represents this melting pot and the food we are serving. What is unique and excellent about our restaurant is that we are able to offer up the freshest of produce and meats, on which Turkish food is predominantly based, from the many local Vermont farms. We are dedicated to buying local ingredients whenever possible. This not only enhances the culinary experience at our restaurant but it also supports the local economy in a very special way. We like to think of our concept as Turkish food with a Vermont Twist.
We absolutely loved our meal at Istanbul Kabab House! The food was delicious and our server was very friendly and helpful. Loved the music and cozy atmosphere. What a treat!
Attentive and VERY friendly service. Food was top notch. We will be going back!
The service and the food are some of the best in the area. We are always very satisfied when we visit this restaurant.
Really enjoyed the food, service, and the ambiance. Prices were a bit high but worth it, except that we were surprised when the bill came, thinking the cost of a shot of Raki was excessive at $10.00 each.
We were there for lunch, had the chicken kabob, stuffed eggplant, side of lavish, yogurt drink and tea. Everything was absolutely delicious and the presentation was really beautiful. The service was excellent. First time for both of us and we will be coming back!
Overall the meal was excellent. A little on the pricey side.
Very good food and attentive service. One of my go-to places in Burlington in general, not just for Mediterranean. Make reservations on the weekends.
Our experience at the Instanbul Kebab house was pure pleasure. We made a reservation and were taken immediately to our table. We ordered the small mezze platter of hors’derves that came with Lavash. There was hummus, a yogurt dip, a Turkish salsa and baba ganoush-all of them so flavorful! My husband and I split the Mixed Grill Platter and our daughter had the Swordfish Kebab Special. Outstanding -all was wonderfully flavored, juicy, and succulent. The sides of rice, cabbage and lettuce salad and pickled onion made a wonderful contrast to the meats. For dessert we tried the rice pudding and the Baklava. The baklava was made with maple syrup and though I’m usually not a fan, this was divine! The rice pudding was rich and sweet- couldn’t quite finish it off, but it was yummy.
The atmosphere was not fancy but very cozy and had some beautiful artifacts and pictures from Turkey. Our waiter was excellent and very attentive. We were very happy to have found this terrific restaurant on our Ski weekend.
My brother and I tried this place and enjoyed it! It was nice to try something different. It all tasted great!
Excellent diner kabob and meze plate was a great start to our meal
This little gem is hidden on a less-traveled part of Church Street in the heart of Burlington. But it is well worth discovering. Ambience is cozy and warm, and the food is outstanding. We shared the appetizer platter (hummus, stuffed grape leaves, babaganoush, etc.) among our party of 5; it was generous and filling. Two of us split the stuffed eggplant and lamb shish kebab entrees; they were equally well-prepared and delicious. Despite it's small size, we were able to get a reservation on an evening when many Burlington restaurants were full; I can't imagine that will last once more people eat here. Excellent dining experience!
We come here often and ever meal we've had has been delicious. The chicken in the chicken shish is unbelievably moist and perfectly seasoned and my husband loves the lamb in the adana wrap. My son is a hummus snob and will only eat Istanbul Kebab House hummus. Servers are super friendly and service is always fantastic. I honestly don't have a single complaint about this restaurant! Go, you will not be disappointed!
Delicious food served attractively and hot from the ovens ---gracious servers-- a very pleasant dining experience!
As is always the case, our meal at the Istanbul Kebab House was superb! The service is always attentive, and the food is fabulous.
We arrived earlier than our reservation and were seated immediately ( it was a Monday night). Our server recommended a wine and gave us a taste before we ordered. The kabobs, one lamb and one swordfish, were wonderful. Tasty, not too spicy, cooked well. We shared a baklava for dessert that was great. We would definitely go back!
Wasn't my best visit, but still love this place! dfgsadghshg
loved the food. great middle eastern flavors. friendly, nice people.
Love this place!
Food was delicious, great spices and variety of flavor! Glad we had a reservation, highly recommend making one, especially before a show at the Flynn. Will come again :)
My friends and I had a great time and loved the experience. The service was superb and as I had requested on OpenTable, we were seated in a warm area on the second floor. We highly recommend the Meze platter, Lavash Bread and the Zuccini Pancake appetizers especially. A few of us lean vegetarian and would love to see more vegetarian entrees. The Vegetarian Stuffed Eggplant was very good. My friends who had meat dishes were very happy with their choices. We agreed we want to return in the summer to enjoy a meal on the roof.
very good food. excellent value. We plan to return soon
The food is always fabulous. The service varies, but is always friendly. Sometimes they seem a bit understaffed. Sit upstairs if possible, in winter. The downstairs can be freezing, because the door/curtain to the street is often open and the cold air blows in.
Everything was great except the Turkish coffee which was served lukewarm but not hot. It should be hot.
We've eaten at the cafe many times, usually for lunch and we have always had a good experience.
Delicious food and attentive staff. Will definitely go back!
We were warmly greeted and taken to a comfortable table upstairs. The apps came out lightening fast and did not disappoint. The baba ganoush was smoky, the bread warm, and the grape leaves flavorful. My entree of eggplant stuffed with ground lamb was absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party of four enjoyed their meal. Though the food came out really fast, we were not made to feel rushed at all, and we were there on a Friday night. If reasonably priced, interesting, and well-prepared food appeals to you, give Instanbul House a try!
Great food and atmosphere for dinner with friends!
Tout était excellent, la qualité et l’authenticité était comme si on était en Turquie! N’hésitez pas à y aller.
What a wonderful surprise on new Year's Eve!! The Falafel was among the best I've ever had. It was obvious that the homemade Babaganoush was made with care and real wood-smoked eggplants. (the Hummus rocked as well.) ALL of the entrees were appreciated, from the kebabs to the casseroles the came in sizzling earthenware pots. The rice pudding had a unique citrus (and pallet cleansing) taste. I had the Kunefe for dessert - it was cheesy, sweet and crunchy. We will absolutely be back!
Excellent all around experience. Excellent all around experience. Excellent all around experience. Excellent all around experience. Excellent all around experience. Excellent all around experience.
We had a delicious gluten free meal! Would recommend this place for anyone.
Delicious food. Loved the chicken kebab and the stuffed croquettes. Ate downstairs which only had a few tables quite close together but assume there are more tables upstairs?
We choose to dine differently on Christmas while skiing in Vermont. It was an excellent choice though just slightly pricy for the entree served,
Excellent service et excellent repas. Merci!
Unfortunately, there was a fire alam and we were outside, cold, for almost 30 min. We weren’t offered compensation or a warm drink when we returned inside
We had a wonderful dining experience here; exceptional food and service. It was the first visit for us but we will be back.
unfortunately there was a fire alarm during our meal-, so we did not get to finish our order- fun atmosphere- reasonably priced good wine- initial appetizer(mezza) platter seemed yummy- we did hang around outside hoping to go back in to complete our meal- but our server requested payment in case we couldn't - so, I paid for the mezza plate(which we had not finished) and I paid for the bottle of wine(which we had not finished)- and I didn't feel that was right- the alarm lasted too long and we went elsewhere(where I again paid for appetizers and wine)
Food was awesome. I like being transported to a far away place by the taste of foods that are not readily available locally, and this definitely did it for me. The house specialties were wonderful. I reserved a table using the internet, I should have specified 2nd floor for a more even temperature, it was a frigid day and we were seated right near the door, each time the door opened the temperature dropped. I departed stuffed with great food and looking forward to returning to try more dishes.
Great food that is healthy and different than other places in Vermont love the freshly made hummus to start and any the Turkish entrees. Even if you are not familiar with this food you will find something that you will love.
My wife and I went here for dinner on a Saturday night. The food and service where outstanding. Very friedly staff and a quiet place to dine and talk. I would recommend to anyone that likes great food and a quiet environment.
