The food was delicious. We ordered the Sampler for 2 and there was more than enough food for both of us. This was our first visit and we will definitely go back.
What a wonderful find while in Cincinnati for a conference. After lower end hotel food we were thrilled to come across healthy, authentic, delicious offerings. The ezme was the best I've had, and I frequent Mediterranean restaurants. Dolmas, hummus, mixed grill, shepherd salad - all fresh, tasty. We went for dinner and two of us returned for lunch the next day! Corrine was a pleasure on both days and made the experience that much more enjoyable and fun.
My wife and I used to go to cafe Istanbul regularly when it was in Newport. Now we only go on special occasions. It is a little pricy for more regular visits, but we really like the food and the atmosphere. If I am going to spend a lot of money on a meal I think cafe Istanbul is the best place to spend it.
We had a fabulous meal prior to Camelot at the Arnofft (walk around the block). Food was delicious and a great value. Wine list is fine and matched to the menu. Service was attentive and excellent. Go ahead take her out for dinner before the show!
Istanbul Café is consistently excellent. The food is great, the service is very good and it's almost never crowded. My husband and I enjoy eating her often when we come downtown for an evening, either on our own or with friends. A large table is great, as you can order several different items and share the various tastes. The portion sizes are large, so sharing isn't ever a problem.
Another great meal at Istanbul Café. The food is always excellent, the ezme and pita bread was great (try it if you already haven't). Lintel soup was great (as usual), chicken kabobs, excellent entrée to choose. Our waiter was outstanding, he remembered our last visit and knew what we like.
Food was very good and unique. Our waiter was courteous and prompt. We needed to finish in time for a play at the Aronoff, and he made sure we had our check taken care of in time. He also worked with us to share appetizers and entrees to give us a chance to sample a greater variety.
Excellent food moderately priced. Its location is very convenient for a number of things that we do downtown.
Great food and service, with a very convenient location near the Aronoff.
I come here a couple of times a month. We had symphony tickets, and even 2 weeks in advance, we couldn't get a reservation at Nada and several other "hot" places to be. So we ate here at Istanbul --- I'm sure for less, and the food and service here are always very good --- one of my favorite places for lunch or dinner.
Excellent meal at a very good price. Convenient location. Good staff. Be careful about ordering too much, unless you can bring the leftovers home, as the portions are very generous. Bring a huge appetite if you order appetizers, salad, and a main entree!
This restaurant is a sleeping little gem. Walking by the door you might just miss it, but not when you come inside. Immediately there is the smell of toasted spices that tease the nose and start a culinary cascade that teases the palate. The menu is sufficient in size to accommodate all tastes. Our server, Emir was charming, knowledgeable, gracious and competent. Our order was served in succession and not crowed on top of each arrival. The wine selection although small was sufficient and very reasonable priced. Everything from the start to the finish was just right. Would love to go back.
Great service and authentic. Lamb shish-kebab had best seasoning for the dish I have ever experienced and meat quality was very good. Lentil soup was well seasoned. Dined alone for a business meal and would have like to dine with others so that I could have shared a wider variety of dishes. I did not have alcohol but appeared to have a good selection.
If you are hungry for outstanding authentic Mediterranean (Turkish) food this is your spot! Best Mediterranean food I ever had outside of Europe or the Middle East. We went here because they had a table for 8 on a Saturday evening and walked into a empty restaurant. The service was outstanding and warm and the appetizer platter and the large mixed grill platter were so good I wanted to go back every day this week.
The Istanbul Cafe was AMAZING! My wife and I enjoy finding great Turkish food in different cities that we visit. We were thrilled to find this spot. The food was so good. The Iskandar was the best I've ever had outside of Turkey. Loved the Turkish Tea, Kunife, Adana Kebab, Everything.
The lentil soup is fabulous and so are the desserts and Turkish coffee. Great wines too! Thank you.
Great baba ganouj and hummus. Falafel was top notch too.
Had a friend with soy allergy. Waitress helped her choose food and chef came out to talk to her. They modified her dinner and it was excellent!
This is one of my favorite downtown spots. We went for restaurant week, and, with soup or salad, entree, a small dessert, and a glass of wine for $25, it was a great deal. Their prices are reasonable all of the time, and their peppery red lentil soup is the best way to start a meal here. The lamb dishes are my favorites.
High-end Greco-Turkish Mediterranean cuisine is the best around town.
We were highly impressed with this gem of restaurant! The servers were very gracious. The food is so flavorful and delicious. I was also surprised by how healthy everything on the menu is. Plenty of gluten free and/or vegetarian options. I had the Vegetarian Stew and my fiancé had the lamb kabobs. We also got the sampler plate as an appetizer. I can't believe we haven't eaten there sooner. I will definitely be back!!!
Even the vegetables were very tasty, usually I find vegetables either bland or soggy out in a restaurant.
Very quaint and quiet eatery in downtown Cincy. Great Kebobs and generously sized salads. Reasonably priced.
One block from the Aronoff Center.
