We had a lovely time at Issin Japanese Restaurant. I booked a reservation for my husband’s birthday and they were so sweet to bring out our ice cream with a candle for him. Food was great and staff were polite. Highly recommend for special occasions!

This may be a little too authentic of an experience. It did not live up to the other reviews. The restaurant itself is very small and plain. The food was just ok. The edamame did not taste fresh. The pods seemed old and did not have that crisp outer husk and lively green color of fresh edamame. The waitress brought us a complimentary appetizer that appeared to be tuna in a sauce but when we tasted it, it was some type of dried out fish chuck that resembled cat food more than fresh sushi. We had a Dragon roll which was not bad and also ordered the sushi dinner which came with an assortment of nigiri and a tuna roll. It was just ok. The tuna roll was underwhelming and the rest of the nigiri looked good but after eating the tuna, ebi, and mackerel we had had enough. It definitely missed the mark. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

We went for the Valentines Day special. We were the 2nd party to arrive for the earliest time slot (5pm). The set menu was tasty and prompt until the main course. We waited about an hour after the previous course until we were served the main course, which was lobster and steak. The lobster was a little overcooked. 2 parties that arrived after us were served before we were, but most of the other tables also appeared to be waiting a long time for their main course. I think they were unprepared to be able to cook and serve the main courses promptly which made the experience less than enjoyable.

The food and service is outstanding as always, the atmosphere is pleasant and noise is at a bear minimum. I always go back for more.
