Isola Little Italy
I have vivid memories of my grandmother turning plain bread into amazing desserts, simple apples into incredible fritters sprinkled with a little sugar and honey, and even treating my sunburns with olive oil. Thirty years later, I still savor every meal and moment.
Isola is proud to serve the finest local ingredients, dalla vite, from the vine. I hope you enjoy every bite, plucked from my family tree for your table. Buon appetito!
Great Italian food in little Italy with amazing service. We love coming here when we’re in San Diego!
Always delicious food great service and an amazing Happy Hour
I have been to the La Jolla location a couple of times and this one was every bit as good. Pizza is so good it is all I ever have with a salad, but I cannot imagine anywhere else is much better. Even with sitting outside, it was easy to talk
If you are around it is worth they try
Delicious food and excellent happy hour!
Waited 20 mins when we had a reservation. Food service was very slow. They gave us a free dessert to comp the bad service. Food was amazing
great product esp that pizza. best crust i’ve ever had including other neopolitan pizza restaurants and italy! a miracle really. only complaint is i was impressed by how dirty the gray cushions were in the little italy location—
Large filthy black outlines of peoples sweaty shadows which is kind of hard to overlook even for people who aren’t hyper sensitive to that sort of thing.I recommend they spend a little money and replace those cushions against the wall in the little Italy location. Other than that, it was great
We were visiting San Diego for the holiday weekend and Isola was one of the few restaurants that was able to accommodate our party of 12. We wanted hearty Italian food and decided on this for the great reviews. When we got there, my friend wanted a moscow mule (strike 1- they only had wine and beer). Then she asked for Sangria (strike 2- no sangria!). She then ordered the mussels with broth on the menu (strike 3- they had NO mussels that day!). Another member of our party ordered the angus sirloin medium well and it came out disgustingly tough and rubbery and flavorless. We wanted more pasta options but this restaurant had a lot of pizza options which were actually good flavors and unique. I wished I had really looked at the menu before we committed to this restaurant among all the ones in Little Italy. Lastly, my friend got cannolis for a birthday dessert... yes! Right?! No, it was eh... a little runny lemon filling with a cherry stuck in it. Why couldn’t it be a basic creamy ricotta filling?! It just wasn’t what the kind of place we were wanting on this particular occasion.
Other than that, those in our party who ordered margherita pizzas, the salmon, and the spicy shrimp with polenta enjoyed their dishes. The bruschetta was great too.
I don’t think I’d ever come back with all the options in Little Italy.
It was nice but too hot inside.
It’s hard to choose among the interesting dishes offered at this wonderful Italian eatery. The salmon salad was delicious - fresh greens and veggies with perfectly grilled salmon on top. The pasta special was delicate but full flavored. Service is outstanding as the staff is attentive but not hovering and very knowledgeable about the menu. A great luncheon experience!
As always... amazing happy hour... delicious food
We had been a while back and had had a nice experience but the restaurant was empty that first time. This time I was shocked at how loud it was, we could barely converse and the silverware was being cleaned and stacked RIGHT BEHIND us. Thankfully the busboy was gracious enough to go somewhere else when asked. Our waitress was not very attentive and I had to flag her down for very common things like ordering everyone's drinks or refills. The food was good, but not much variety and a little pricey. We were just underwhelmed by the atmosphere, service, and food. Maybe we'll come back when summer is over.
Whenever I have a concert at the Music Box, I always come early and have dinner at Isola! I love the food. The Happy Hour is a great deal. I always get the margherita pizza with extra basil leaf, plus another one or two dishes, depending on how hungry I am. One needs to get there early, by 5 pm, because it starts filling up after that.
The food and staff were great!
Brendon the bartender was fast, pleasant and super helpful!
Service was really slow but the food was good and staff was nice.
The appetizers, soup and pizza was very unique in flavor and delicious. Great location too !!
Traveling with two kiddos and this totally hit the spot. My young boys loved the food; il polipinVery reminiscent off authentic Italian pizza. Perfecto.
Fun spot in a great neighborhood of Downtown San Diego. Food was excellent.
Our favorite place to eat in Little Italy. Amazing food and service.
Food was wonderful...music was a little off for Monday at lunch...my husband said it sounded like they had the playlist from Saturday night playing.
Great food! My boyfriend and I have been coming here during Comic Con for the past three years. It is a great location away from the convention chaos. The food is always great (wood fired pizzas, yum) and the service as well.
Food was delicious but seemed to take a while. Our server, Megan, was delightful and took very good care of us.
We had some wine, a burrata appetizer and split a pizza. Everything was great and not crazy expensive. The restaurant is a little small and I didn’t love our table but overall a good experience.
Service and food is always on point at Isola.
My wife and have been a few times and we always receive friendly service and enjoy the atmosphere. I recommend making a reservation as it can get busy quickly. See you at Isola!
Fabulous food, Tom and team are fantastic!
The hipster decor makes the bathrooms problematic, I was walked in on and also the next person I saw go in was walked in on. The doors are a very non user friendly design all for sake of the esthetic, this makes them unsafe. I will not be returning
Had the pizza and the dough was not cooked all the way,the pasta was ok
Isola Little Italy was a great place, a tad too formal for my liking but the prices were amazing and the servers were very attractive. My reservation was lost by OpenTable but we still received a seat.
Amazing fresh ingredients in pizza , salad , mussels & pasta. Pinot Grigio perfect . Loved everything. Excellent & helpful service. From Philadelphia & in San Diego for a wedding. We dine out all the time. Highly recommend Isola . We felt as though we were in Italy for authentic food!!!
Great food and service. Authentic Italian. Accommodating to requests. Will definitely go back!
Really enjoyed our time there. Pizza was fantastic
Good food lovely atmosphere and great service. We were a party of 9 and everyone had a nice time and liked the food.
Sooo good pizza and the brothers wine from his vineyard is great.
Excellent service. Great pizza. Fun place
The food took too long, pizzas were soggy and one pizza took an hour an a half to serve.
Our waitress was ver nice, but slow service.
Always a stop for us when we come to Sa Diego. People are super friendly and the food is always great. Happy hour 3-6 can not be beat.
The food was absolutely incredible! This will definitely be the place I bring out of town visitors to
Gabriella was our server. She was delightful and made great recommendations. The olive appetizer was delicious. Our party of 6 had pizzas and the pasta of the day. The food is spectacular, the service outstanding!
Loud place which is ok depending on your situation.
Service is honestly terrible. Really slow even getting olives or bread. No refill of water. Asked me if I wanted a 2nd drink, but never brought it to me lol. Pasta is basically out of a box. Prosciutto is grocery store quality to be honest. Very disappointing experience.
Had a large party of 11. We celebrated my wife's birthday. The food and service were excellent. The food/pizza was actually fantastic. Totally enjoyed our experience.
