Isola Little Italy
I have vivid memories of my grandmother turning plain bread into amazing desserts, simple apples into incredible fritters sprinkled with a little sugar and honey, and even treating my sunburns with olive oil. Thirty years later, I still savor every meal and moment.
Isola is proud to serve the finest local ingredients, dalla vite, from the vine. I hope you enjoy every bite, plucked from my family tree for your table. Buon appetito!
We ate on the patio in the back which is advertised as dog friendly. I like dogs but prefer not to eat with them. There was a problem with dog hair all over the cushions on the benches. If that doesn’t bother you then enjoy the outside area. Otherwise our service was great and staff is always very friendly. You can never go wrong by ordering their pasta of the day or the wood fired pizza. I love this place and will definitely be back. I just wish people would leave the dogs home when going out to dinner.
Food was amazing. Pace a bit noisy but I guess that’s part of the vibe
Creative and authentic cuisine. Each dish was flavorful and well presented. Diverse wine list too!
It was for a day! Fun place, nice food!
It’s a bit loud for conversations at time but overall it’s a fun place
Delish, as usual. Duck salad is fantastic for lunch.
Great pizza, great wine selection. Good ambiance. Server had great recommendations, the bruschetta with proscuitto was amazing
We had a great meal and experience at Isola, up until the hostess asked us to leave because they “needed our table for another reservation”. We were clearly wrapping up and they could have easily waited for us to excuse ourselves. It was disappointing as we were having a special outing. Pretty completely soured the experience for us...a great way to make a non-repeat customer out of me.
Pizza crust absolutely delicious Good
Our waitress Elizabeth was simply amazing, very personable, very funny, and spot on with all of our group's needs. We were never left wanting for anything. Food was amazing too. Just a phenomenal experience all around.
Pizza was amazing, appetizers were okay. Pricing is good and so was the service.
Me and my husband took pizza and they were amaziiiing! We are so happy to find a real Italian pizza experience in the States. It's a shame that we are not living in San Diego tough, otherwise we would probably come every week.
The food was fine, but this was probably the worst service I've experienced in a long time. It felt like the server actively despised us-- no hello, sarcastic response, and rushed service. I'm unsure if he was having a bad day, but my husband and I felt unwelcome.
The pizza and wine selection was solid. The space is loud, but the atmosphere is fun and upbeat.
Service was terrible the server was not even speaking English and not professional at all. Very loud and didn’t know his courses. The manager was ok nice I wish he was our server. The pizza had not all ingredients inside for the price I should have a real pizza like in Italie.
Not recommend that place at all.
But the hostesse and manger was nice .
When I did reservation I said it was for a birthday but no one said anything or propose
So thanks for nothing
Pizza is delicious. So is arugula salad. Service is fast. Happy hour pizza is a DEAL as is the other happy hour offers....
Pizza better than Buon Forchetta in my opinion but then I'm not a fan of "wet" pizza....
I specifically brought a group of 7 coworkers here because online they advertised having gluten free pizza, when I arrived they did not have it and said they don’t do that anymore. My coworker didn’t get her meal (a standard order) until most people at the table had already finished theirs. Nothing was taken off the bill.
It was a wonderful experience. Staff were very polite and kind. Food was delicious. Hubby and I loved it. It was our first time here.
We were the first there as we are still on central time. Had great service and pasta was wonderful. Highly recommend b
Super noisy but was a weekend. Service was excellent. We had the Brie and asparagus pizza, yummy, really liked. Not that crazy about the insalata mista, quite plain and boring. My mom enjoyed her espresso gelato dessert, our wine was good. Would try it again maybe not on weekend!
Food is good, you won’t leave hungry. Can get very loud in that space, too many hard surfaces and no sound absorbing panels, difficult to hold a conversation.
Pizza good but a bit soggy. Very loud and mediocre service
Simple food, simply presented. Fresh and tasty.
We are local, and Isola is one of our favorites. I particularly love their Pizza. As close to Italy as you will come.
New Years eve
Very good and friendly service!! The food was good but expected it to be better! Nice Ambiente!
Known for their pizzas but they weren't very good - crust was burnt on top and soggy below.
El lugar está muy bien situado dentro de Little Italy, además la atención fue inmejorable y la comida deliciosa. Las recomendaciones del mesero en cuanto a la cantidad de comida que ordenar, fueron perfectas.
Be warned... though they say the pizzas are only 4 slices they are very large. we had way too many pizzas as people thought they were individual size
Delicious food and very gracious service. The music is a bit loud and the maintenance activities at the back of the restaurant were distracting but everyone left happy.
Delightful Italian, informative wait staff, fresh and tasty.
Perfect place for a business lunch! Food is great for sharing and good environment for conversation. This is our go-to place for business lunches. Never disappoints.
Great birthday date! Super Tuscan bottle, pizza and a pasta a perfect-perfect treat
The atmosphere at Isola in Little Italy makes you feel like you are actually in Italy. The food was so delicious. We recommend the mozzarella l flight and the Margarhita pizza. And the Rosso de Montelcino went perfectly with it. Our Italian server was the cherry on top of the gelato!!!
I made a reservation on open table last night for 7:30
It was accepted. We got there And it was closed. Someone messed up.
Meal and service were fantastic
Good service, good food, and perfect dinner before the theatre.
Usually a great value with great food. My lamb entre was over cooked and burnt. Bruschetta with prosciutto was the best as usual.
Always great food and friendly service. Never been wrong ordering the pasta of the day.
The pizza was very strange. They didn’t evenly spread the toppings throughout the pizza... the olives were all on one slice, then the artichokes on another, the cheese on another, and the meat on the other. The pasta was good though.
I have been going to Isola for years, and I still think that they have the best pizza in San Diego. They let the dough rise for 48 hours or so, and then the pizzas are cooked very quickly in a wood-burning oven. The result is an incredibly tasty crust. I generally have, and recommend, the spicy salami pizza, and start with the roasted veggies. I've never been disappointed, either in Little Italy or in La Jolla (where I usually go). So, strongly, strongly recommended.
Great service, great tasty food & amazing relaxing ambience!
