Isola La Jolla
We could not talk, the music was so loud, and it was very hot!
Great food and service
Would definitely come back when are in the area again
Really nice atmosphere, delicious pizza, friendly staff.
Service was friendly. The pasta was under done even for al dente.
We spent our 27th anniversary at Isola and liked it so much we went back two nights later. The food was fantastic and the service excellant. They have a great selection of wines from Piemonte which is a favorite part of Italy for my wife and I.
Best Pizza I had since I live in the US!
Great little pizza spot with excellent service.
Good food, especially pizza, fast and very polite service. Book in advance for a Saturday.
Our dinner was great. We've always come here for lunch and were pleasantly surprised that the dinner menu offered so many more dishes. We'll be back for dinner again to try more options.
The food was good, especially the brick-oven pizza. Service however was not very good. It took some time for them to sit us and when they did, they squeezed us right next to a family in an empty restaurant. The table was small and it took time for them to clear our table for the next dish. When they did bring out the next dish, they did not offer clean plates. On top of this, they rarely came by to refill our water or ask how we were doing. The waitresses did not appear to be coordinated, several times nearly running into each other. Again, food is good, but service needs to be greatly improved.
Fabulous in house made pasta. Best burrito, fresh mozzarella ( made in Ca!).
Never disappointed. Shared 1 dessert for 4- budina. Inhaled it!
Food was good. Service was okay. The chairs for the outdoor seating were poor. I think sitting inside would have made the experience a lot better. It felt like we were left as an afterthought.
The Wood fired pizza was very good and I would highly recommend. We also had a variety of pastas including the Cacio e Pepe which could have used cracked fresh pepper rather then the finely grounded pepper they had on it. The Tiramisu was very good for dessert!
A delightful night of great food and wonderful service. Had a bottle of family wine Barolo which was outstanding.
Pizza was wonderful. Octopus appetizer and rigatoni ragu were okay, nothing special.
Took my daughter there for the first time. She is a freshman at UCSD and we were blown away! The people were so nice, the server Tina was AMAZING - she took time to talk about the special wines from the family’s vineyard in Italy, and the pizza was the best I have had- anywhere!! Except maybe Rome..😄
We came back the next night because we couldn’t stop talking about our meal!! Anna was equally as lovely as our server and the prices are SO reasonable, my daughter and her friends plan on making this a weekly thing!!!! Thank you for some wonderful experiences!!!! I can’t wait to visit her again!!
Nice casual dining with varied menu and reasonable prices . Friendly, efficient service . Recommended.
Great pizza and the pasta was outstanding
Service was very good
The food is extraordinary!
The pastas are all cooked in perfect al dente, which makes the pasta dish so good.
And the pizza dough is very tasty making all flavor pizza the best.
We love it!
Excellent pizza as usual. Love it.
Food is good, but way too loud in the restaurant and the server never picks up our dirty dishes, more worried about adding water to our half full glasses.
Best Italian food - it’s comparable to food in Italy - authentic and amazing
Best authentic pizza around town! Light dough with adequate toppings and delicious flavors. Calamari fritti was tasty and good to share as an appetizer. Pizzas were very tasty. Pasta dishes were ample and flavorful. Only disappointment was the Eggplant Parmigiana which had no melted mozzarella on it and the dish was overcooked and had a burnt taste to both the sauce and eggplant. Service was attentive although it took over an hour to get our orders in. Overall it was a nice evening with good food and service.
Isola is the best
We love Isola! This was our first time visiting the La Jolla location as we usually go to Little Italy since it’s closer to us. LJ did not disappoint! Everything was delicious and the service was excellent!
I have been to isola La Jolla numerous times, it is one of my favorite restaurants in all San Diego.
Last Saturday food was as usual outstanding, the service just fell a bit short ,
The restaurant was the busiest I have ever seen it, that’s prob why.
Servers seemed stressed out
Just a quick word for the management to keep us the excellent work
Still one of my favorites by far.
Sometimes it happens on a busy night.
Dilightful service and very good food. They will accommodate requests with pleasure. Becoming a regular spot for us for casual meal w great food, wine and service.
The bartender / server / manager (?) was amazing and did the job of 5 people. The hostess basically did nothing but look pretty. Promote bartender. Fire hostess.
The menu is really big and I we ended picking two pizzas that were too similar in taste. Will definitely be back to try some of their entrees.
I love the food at Isola. It feels traditional and fresh at the same time. I’d go every night if I could.
everything was fantastic except the noise level. we had a lovely meal with little conversation
Had to ask for a check 3 times. Third time my wife said if we do not get the check we are walking out. Only then the waitress came to us and delivered it. Food is amazing but this evening service was really bad. Hope it improves.
The fungi pasta was awesome.
We love returning here each year when we come to La Jolla. Staying here a week and have already been twice
It was a saturday night and it was finally cooling off in La Jolla. We made opentable reservation and arrived to find a table on the sidewalk available which was perfect with the weather and fresh air. We asked about their family wines from northern Italy and selected one. It was excellent as were the appetizers and main course. Friendly staff, great food, good service, just a perfect evening outside eating, drinking and talking. Highly recommend Isola to anyone!
Really good menu, preparation is authentic.
Wine selection not over the top and includes some hidden gems.
Caccio e pepe was fantastic. The pizza with spicy salami, one of the best i had in recent times.
Best Italian food I have ever had!!!! All the pasta was house made and cooked to perfection.
Upon arrival our table was ready for us. Although we had an early dinner reservation, the restaurant quickly began to fill. Tables were set nicely with a single fresh rose and all candles lit. Its nice when everything is set, we often have seen the servers lighting candles after the fact. I believe the manager was there that night, and he tended our table. He kindly offered menu recommendations as well as wine selection. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal and time at Isola La Jolla. Every item we ordered from appetizers, dinner and wine was delicious! We won't wait so long before our next return.
Side note, we celebrated my daughters graduation dinner at Isola two years ago. Even then they accommodated our late arrival and were not in a rush to kick us out. They have always been extremely friendly and service excellent.
